Libby Morgan returns to Lancaster County for her brother Trey's wedding to his attorney wife, Jessica. She lives in California as a photojournalist but she isn't really happy with her job and doesn't plan to return. Libby's best friend, Esther, is Amish and has written to let Libby know that something is going on in the Amish community that is disturbing so they agree to meet after the wedding. But Esther never makes it. She was involved in an accident where someone hit her buggy and horse and left the scene. Esther was on the stretch of highway that she should not have been on at that time of night.

Adam Byler is the local police chief of the township and longtime friend of the Morgan family. Matriarch Geneva is like an adopted mother. Trey and Adam were best friends and younger brother Link was always around. Libby and Esther liked to tag along with the boys. Libby has loved Adam for years and Adam has cared for Libby for a long time but he never felt he was good enough for her because of his background. He is still fighting his feelings.

It is Libby's goal to find out what Esther discovered that would make someone try to kill her in the hit and run. Unfortunately, Esther is in a coma at the hospital and can't help with the investigation. As Libby tries to follow clues, someone is trying to stop her. Adam gets very frustrated with Libby and her stubbornness and refusal to stay out of his way in investigating what is going on. Thankfully, Esther's mother welcomes Libby to be around Esther as much as possible. As the suspense gets intense, it draws Adam to Libby to keep her safe and as Esther comes out of the coma, it is necessary to keep her safe.

This is a great final suspenseful story in the The Brotherhood of the Raven series by Marta Perry. She does such a great job writing about the Amish, especially with suspense thrown in.

Danger in Plain Sight by Marta Perry is the third book in the Brotherhood of the Raven series. Libby Morgan was returning to her home in Lancaster County for her brother’s wedding and to help her Amish best friend, Esther Zook. Esther had written her and told her she needed her help, but didn’t relate what the situation was. Unfortunately Esther is in a buggy crash and sustained a traumatic brain injury. Libby convinces Adam Byler, chief of police and her childhood sweetheart, that it wasn’t an accident but intentional. This is another suspenseful book and a must read to see what happens to all the Morgan siblings.

I finished up the series by listening to this one, and it was very good. I enjoyed the mystery and romance, and the narration was wonderful.

This one was a little different for me. I don’t think I’ve ever read an Amish mystery before that I remember. This was book 3 in the series I guess. I didn’t have an issue reading as a standalone.

Not too bad the action in this book was a bit slow and I found the fmc a bit irritating.

Danger in Plain Sight, by Marta Perry, b-plus, narrated by Therese Plummer, produced by Harlequin Enterprises, downloaded from audible.com.

Had I looked before buying to find out this was a harlequin book, I probably wouldn’t have bought it as I’m not really into romances, but despite the dominant theme of
Desperation to get Sheriff Adam Tyler and returned-home Libby Morgan to realize they love each other, there is a fairly good mystery. Libby returns back to the Amish populated Lancaster County in Pennsylvania when her best friend sends her increasingly alarmed letters about something going on at home. Also Libby’s brother is getting married. So she comes home for the wedding, and during the festivities after the wedding, Sheriff Tyler is notified that Libby’s best friend, an Amish woman, Esther, has been hit in her buggy by a car which left the scene, and when it’s unclear Esther will survive, Libby insists on going to the hospital with Adam. It appears that the accident may not have been one and that someone might have been trying to kill Esther. Libby and Adam start investigating to try to find out the truth. At first they are just worried about keeping Esther safe while her health improves, but soon they realize that they are in danger as well. A pretty good book involving glimpses of the Amish culture, but Linda Castillo’s Katy Burkholder series is better.

"In the third book of her Amish suspense series, Perry brings us back to Lancaster County. She completely draws the reader into the world of the Amish with their quiet ways and their modern "Englischer" neighbors. Perry's strong writing, along with loads of suspense, will keep you turning the pages." Rt Book Review, rated 4 stars

I am a new fan of Marta Perry, read all 4 books in the Brotherhood of the Raven series (or Amish Suspense), this one ended the series well unless there is a future book). I didn't like Libby for most of the book; while I admired her courage standing by her friend, she showed incredible stupidity at times. I loved Adam, Geneva, Link and Marisa, I do wish there was at least one more book, to give Geneva a second chance at love.

A nice book,: nice, clean characters except a bad few,: Florida on Winter, , That's good also, a cute boy doesn't hurt. Predictable.

Synopsis: Libby Morgan never wanted to return to Lancaster County. She'd made her own life in the city as a news photographer, leaving the slow pace of Amish country behind. She'd left love behind, too, when she fled the old-fashioned ways of Adam Byler. But when a friend in trouble beckons, Libby knows she has no choice. What she doesn't know is that something sinister awaits her.

For Adam Byler, the traditional ways convey safety and order. As police chief of Springville, the former marine strives to keep the peace between the Amish and their modern "Englischer" neighbors - and he will not allow Libby's beauty to distract him from his duties. But when an innocent woman is attacked, they'll confront a danger more threatening than their growing passion.

I did not read this book. Since the author has been writing for more than 20 years, and writes lots of Amish books, or Amish themed book. There was a huge oversite in this book.
"she fled the old-fashioned ways of Adam Byler." "For Adam Byler, the traditional ways convey safety and order. As police chief of Springville, the former Marine strives to keep the peace between the Amish and their modern "Englischer" neighbors—and he will not allow Libby's beauty to distract him from his duties"
Adam is old-fashioned and traditional Amish. The Amish reject violence, weapons, and positions of authority because of their belief in nonresistance, and police work requires all of these. They also avoid modern technology, swearing oaths, and deep involvement with government. If an Amish man wanted to be a police officer, he would first have to leave the Amish community.
I will probably try the other books in this series, but skip this one.

Libby is returning home to Pennsylvania for her brother's wedding. She is also arriving concerned for her best friend Esther. Esther has expressed to Libby in letters that there is something serious going on in Amish Country and she is fearful. Before Libby can see Esther, Esther and her buggy are involved in an accident. The police are searching for the hit and run driver and the investigation throws Libby and Chief Adam together naturally rekindling something that happened a long time ago. During the investigation, many secrets are revealed, and things aren't always how they seem in the plain land. Didn't realize when I started reading it this is #3 in a 3 part series. I will now be seeking out the first 2 for sure.

Marta Perry writes "Danger in Plain Sight".

this was doubly fun because I love reading about the amish and then to add the mystery made me keep reading page after page, wanting to know more....
Esther is in a buggy accident at the beginning of the story or was it an accident???

Libby is best friend to Esther so she comes back to town to help, she meets up with an old friend Adam Byler who is now a police chief of the area.

thanks Marta for a wonderful story that gives so much reading pleasure..

Libby Morgan, the last of the Morgan children in this series, returns home for her brother's wedding, to help her friend solve a problem and an old flame. At the brother's wedding, her friend has an "accident" that requires guarding during her recovery and the help to investigate from the old flame who is now the police chief. This story kept me reading and I'm sorry there are no more siblings to continue this series.

I enjoyed this novel although it wasn't as exciting as others I have read. I liked the heroine Libby, but found her actions Impulsive and impetuous for someone who had been a reporter in a large city. I have read and liked other books by Marta Perry, but I found the action in this one a little slow.

The danger element in here was quite good; the love story a tad trite. Still, the more I read, the more I wanted to read, and that's a good thing. I really like Amish fiction. I may try another one of Marta Perry's books and see what I think.

I’d never read anything by this author before, and although this was the third in the series, it was a good one. Adam and Libby are portrayed so well. I never really thought of an Amish setting for a mystery like this, but it was well done.

The final installment of the series did not disappoint. It references the overall arc of the family and brings us to the author's ending. As a reader, I would have like more information on the family/town scenarios in the epilogue; however, it's a great read!

This third and final book in the series did not disappoint! I loved that each book’s characters built on the other books but were all stand alone. The characters in this book were strong and I could picture each one in my mind as I read the book. This is a very good series, for sure and certain!
