I was raised in Alabama, so I know we Southerners don't hide our crazy people—we showcase them. Eccentric people make for the best stories, and we Southerners do love our stories. The need to tell stories has been a driving force in my life from childhood.

As a girl, my favorite books were mysteries and romances. When I realized there were books that featured both romance and mystery, I knew I'd found my calling. Now I get to play both matchmaker and murderer and get paid for it. Could there be a better job anywhere?

This romantic suspense did have it's moments of exciting action but it took a long time before they got started and too much time was spend on all the other Cooper's. I was easily distracted and had to push myself to finish. Pentagon liaison Evan suspects that Megan's husband wasn't killed in battle by the enemy but rather by corrupt government officials.

Very good book. I liked Evan and the way he wasn't letting his suspicions about Megan's husband's death go. The more he looked into it, the more he realized something wasn't right. When he came to Megan with his ideas, first he had to get her to talk to him - she held him responsible for Vince's death. Once he got past that, she had to listen. With the problems the Coopers had already had with the renegades, Megan knew that anything was possible. I loved the way that Megan was able to process the information and help Evan with his investigation. I also love seeing how all the Coopers get involved, and how more and more of the conspiracy is being uncovered. I really enjoyed the attraction between Evan and Megan. I also liked the fact that it wasn't a case of just forgetting her late husband and moving on, but that she had to make the conscious effort to realize that she did have to go on living. I really liked her dreams of her husband. I am really looking forward to the rest of the series.

Actually gave this 3.5 rating. I loved the characters, the non-stop action, and the story.

Evan Pike: former Pentagon lawyer and liaison to Vince Randall’s peace keeping mission in Kazirikstan has reason to believe that Vince Randall was murdered. He has been trying to prove it for the last four years.

Megan and Evan get together to track down the truth. They fall in love and have to deal with their feelings of guilt. Megan because she feels she is cheating on Vince and Evan because he feels guilty about Vince’s murder.

In Graves’ romantic suspense novel, Pentagon liaison Evan Pike was heading into the most dangerous job he’d ever taken on. He was going to confront Megan Randall with the truth—her dead husband had been murdered by someone in his own government. Working to keep their association strictly business was a challenge especially once Megan’s life was in danger.

Megan struggles to understand the chaos her life has become since finding herself on the run with a man she’d just met. But it helped her to know that Evan would do anything to protect her. And yet the most dangerous part of this puzzle was the fact that she, the woman who thought her only chance at love was dead, was juggling serious feelings for this man on a mission.

Another fast ride into danger with Cooper Security.
