Setelah sekian lama baca buku romance yg disuguhi hero yg sempurna mulu (sampai bosen ter-eneg-eneg) barulah di novel ini saya menemukan hero yg semprulna namun realistis banget.
Pierce Hollister tidak menginginkan anak. Sbg akibat dibesarkan tanpa kasih sayang terutama dari ayahnya, Pierce sangat menjaga jarak dgn anak biologisnya, Graham. Pierce terpaksa mengambil alih mengasuh Graham krn ibu kandung Graham, Kat sedang dlm penahanan teroris. Anna Aronson adalah pengasuh kandidat terbaik tapi Anna sendiri sudah memiliki anak yg sebaya dgn Graham.
Selama Anna bekerja utk Pierce, Pierce menjadi sangat terganggu oleh kehadiran dua bocah yg berisik dan Anna yg sangat menarik dan keibuan ini. Insting Pierce sbg pria dan pemburu menjadi hidup kembali. Dan Anna juga menerima status hubungan mereka yg hanya temporer ini. Dan kejadian demamnya Graham dan kembalinya Kat, menjadi titik balik dari hubungan mereka. Anna menyadari Pierce tak akan mencintainya dan menawari hal-hal yg diimpikannya. Apakah hubungan mereka berakhir begitu saja?
Ini pertama kali saya baca novel author dan saya suka gaya penulisan author ini. Karakter Pierce dan Anna juga realistis menurut saya. Karakter mereka saling bertolak belakang tapi bisa saling bersinergi. Mungkin sedikit kendalanya adalah perbedaan status mereka sbg pelayan dan majikan, dan gampangnya Anna menyerah pada hasrat seksual mereka. Kalau Pierce sih gak usah ditanya lagi. Laki mah pikirannya gak jauh-jauh dari seks, apalagi kalau ada perempuan nganggur di depan mereka. Tapi emang sih tipe ky Pierce ini kalau udah kecantol sama wanitanya, biasanya sih bakal setia banget dan bucin juga.
Penjelasan di akhir cerita ttg mengapa Kat "mengkhianati" Pierce dgn jalan hamil diam-diam, bagi saya juga masuk nalar saya. Walau agak egois, namanya perempuan kan ada jam biologis yg terbatas utk punya anak, yg berbeda jauh dgn laki-laki yg bisa kapan aja mau punya anak. Dan hubungan wanita dgn mantan suaminya tidak perlu sampai ancur-ancuran ky di sinetron juga kan? Inilah nilai plus plus dari novel ini. Coba sering-sering yg spt ini yg diterjemahkan.

Anna Aronson, a recently terminated kindergarten teacher, is overqualified for the job and has a child of her own. But desperate times call for desperate measures, and soon Anna and the toddlers are working their way past Pierce's defenses. Can he overcome his distrust to find family, love and happiness?
Hmm... this is one of those books that is enjoyable because of rather than despite its problems. The hero is an obnoxious jerk for 2/3s of the book, but it is impossible not to fall for him because the heroine sees his potential to be a loving father and giving lover, and the reader wants him to live up to her expectations.
The romance is excellent as Pierce and Anna have tangible chemistry and their snarky interactions are very entertaining. Anna is more than capable of standing up to Pierce's domineering and overbearing tendencies, and she gives as good as she gets.
The two toddlers, Cody and Graham, are simply adorable and their shenanigans could melt even the hardest of hearts - as they do with Pierce.
The ending is somewhat contrived and the epilogue saccharine sweet, but this is a Harlequin romance so it is to be expected.

This is simply not my kind of book. I don't like where there is an ex lover involved and she was a mess. She got pregnant by him on purpose and had planned never to tell him of his son. And why, you may ask, did she get pregnant? She worked a dangerous job as a journalist and had been through being captured and her brother being murdered. So, she decided she wanted to have a baby to leave a piece of herself behind when she was most likely killed.
WHAT?! Is she insane and then not to tell the father? Then she leaves town and dumps the baby on his unsuspecting father. Father hires a nanny who also has a child and they fall in love. Ex lover returns for the child and he pushes everyone away. Decides he can't live without nanny then ex decides she isn't parent material. So he gets full custody but when he and his new wife go out on the town the ex lover comes over an babysits not only her own child, but the new wife's child and her ex lover and new wife's baby girl. Sorry, I may be really traditional but this just sounds a bit too sick for me! I despise this type of story. I guess that's a happily ever after??? But not in my books.

I didn't see any romance in this. Just a guy pushing a girl away, being quite closed off and lust. No romance. He needs a nanny for his son, whom he doesn't want, while his mother is away. She needs a job as she was fired from her teaching job because of a lying dad who doesn't like to take no for an answer. Anna is told in no uncertain terms that he does not want anything but peace and quiet. She is to keep her son and his son quiet and nowhere in his sights. He needs to work. Obviously, things spice up, but it's more of a need not a want and he continues to shove her away, except when he wants sex. That's not love.

Selain sibuk bekerja, Pierce belum bisa melihat Graham sebagai darah dagingnya karena apa yang diperbuat pasangannya dan bayang-bayang masa kecilnya. Makannya ketika dia memperkerjakan Anna sebagai babysitter, Pierce berencana untuk tidak pernah bertemu Graham sampai pasangannya mengambil kembali anaknya.
Sayangnya, Pierce ga menyangka Anna bisa jadi duri dalam rencananya. Selain penampilan fisik Anna yang lembut dan penuh dengan aura keibuan yang anehnya bikin libido Pierce bertambah, Anna justru melibatkan Pierce untuk bertemu Graham. Ada sesuatu dalam diri Anna yang bikin Pierce ngga bisa menolak semua permintaan Anna.
Bagi Anna, kemunculan Pierce untuk memperkerjakannya seperti keberuntungan setelah dirinya dipecat dari sekolahnya. tapi Anna kaget melihat gaji yang ditawarkan terlalu tinggi dan lebih kaget lagi ternyata Pierce ngga pernah mau berinteraksi dengan Graham. Pertamanya Anna percaya Pierce bisa bersikap sedingin itu ke anaknya, tapi suatu momen membalikkan pemahaman Anna. Anna percaya Graham bisa mendapat kasih sayang Pierce.
Interaksi Anna dan Pierce bisa dibilang saling melengkapi. Pierce pengen ngajak Anna bobo bareng demi mengurangi libidonya. Sedangkan Anna pengen Pierce menghabiskan waktunya lebih sering dengan Graham tapi doi ngga menolak saat Pierce menciumnya. Konfliknya bertambah ketika pasangan Pierce datang mengambil Graham yang bikin hubungan Pierce dan Anna kembali renggang. Jadi siapakah yang duluan mengusir harga diri dan menjemput pujaan hati ?

He doesn't believe the pretty ex teacher's story of why she was fired and so decides to keep a close eye on her which of course gets closer than necessary.
Anna is trying her best to raise her toddler son without the help of his father. She is also trying to win Pierce over and make him see his son needs him too.
Final thoughts
I actually enjoyed this more than I expected myself to. Pierce was a bit of a dick for most of it but he did improve. He was just hiding behind a long childhood of hurt and was trying to prevent the same thing happening to him again. He just wasn't thinking about what he was doing was the same thing his father had done. Anna was nice too. I also liked the mum of the child she was looking after, she wasn't the bitch she could have been and was actually normalish, made a nice change from having bitchy exes ruin everything.

Pilihan bacaan yang sangat random di saat puasa 😁🙈 hanya karena judulnya yang mengingatkan ku pada satu judul film drama thriller keluarga yang dibintangi Hirose Abe.
Ceritanya? Ga jauh dari konglomerat kaya raya nan guantheng dan pengasuh bayinya yang sekseh.
Pierce tak pernah berniat jadi ayah, dia nanya hubungan suka sama suka tanpa ada cincin kawin, apalagi anak. Tapi Kat menjebaknya hingga ia punya anak. Ketika Kat pergi bekerja (seorang reporter di tempat yang sedang bergolak) Pierce harus tinggal mengurus bayinya, Graham. Karena ngga pengalaman sebagai ayah, Pierce memperkerjakan Anna, pecatan guru sekolah yang juga memiliki bayi hampir seusia Graham.
Anna ingin Pierce dekat dengan anaknya, menjadi ayah yang baik dan bertanggung jawab. Namun ia sendiri jatuh cinta pada cowok angkuh sok ngga mau jadi ayah.

Pierce tidak berniat untuk mengurus anaknya. Namun saat Kat, ibu dari Graham, hilang dalam tugas sebagai jurnalis, Pierce harus mengambil alih pengasuhan Graham. Untuk itu dia memperkerjakan Anna yang datang dengan anaknya, Cody. Satu anak sudah membuatnya pusing, apalagi dua anak balita.
Anna berusaha bekerja untuk mendapatkan penghasilan setelah dipecat dari sekolah tempatnya mengajar. Kali ini dia akan menjadi pengasuh. Dia bersyukur Pierce masih mau menerimanya, mengasuh anak pria itu sekaligus mengasuh anaknya. Satu hal yang ingin Anna pastikan adalah agar Graham dan ayahnya bisa lebih dekat. Meski Anna tidak bisa mengabaikan hubungan semalam bersama Pierce sangat ingin diulanginya lagi.
Karakter Pierce yang tegas dan tangguh bertolak belakang dengan Anna yang mudah tersentuh dan ramah pada siapa saja. Namanya Harlequin, tokoh pria dan wanitanya selalu punya chemistry tapi keduanya berusaha abai. Setidaknya, cara Pierce meminta maaf dan memulihkan semuanya membuat cerita ini lebih realistis

Pierce Hollister tidak pernah menyangka putranya akan "jatuh" ke tangannya. Karena Kat, mantan kekasihnya hilang saat meliput berita. Mau tak mau Pierce harus merawat putranya and he is not a family man. Kelabakan donk pastinya.
Anna Aronson kandidat kuat untuk menjadi baby sitter Graham, putra Pierce. Masalah utamanya adalah Anna punya bayi! Well, satu bayi aja udah bikin pusing apalagi dua bayi coba. Tapi, tak ada pilihan lain. Anna pindah ke rumah Pierce beserta bayinya. Bagus juga sih biar Graham ada temen. 😁
Meski begitu, Pierce sudah mewanti-wanti dia tidak ingin diganggu. Tidak mau tau kegiatan Graham juga. Namun, Pierce tak bisa menampik pesona Anna. Begitupun sebaliknya.
Karakter dua tokoh ini berbeda banget. Tapi memang gitu kan harusnya, cari pasangan harus yg beda karakter biar seru. 🤣

Baca ini sebenernya buat netralisir bacaan gue yg sblmnya aja sih 😭
Well, terjemahannya yaaa cukup nyaman dibaca walaupun di beberapa tempat sempet bikin lost gtu deh. Kayak, gak kebayang aja dan gak dapet maksudnya.
Pace ceritanya juga terasa cepet sih
Kalo alur ceritanya yaaaa standar novel CR lah udah ketebak bakal dibawa ke mana alurnya dan kapan saat2 'itu'nya hahaha

In order to prevent what broke him years ago from occurring again , he chooses to be a workaholic and puts up a cold personality (which died out with time) towards Anna whom he had hired to babysit his son. But how long does he puts up with this armor plated personality when he finds Anna desirable and irresistible?
You want a boss and employee kind of relationship that ends in almost premium tears? This is for you.
P.S Parenting doesn’t come with a manual so you have to give it your all and hope for the best.

I absolutely adored this sweet, spicy romance. Anna is so likeable as the soft-hearted, nurturing, but sunny MFC. I loved the MMC, Pierce; the stuffy, driven, CEO, with an "armor plated personality" who is secretly a softy. From Harlequin's Billionaires and Babies series, Pierce is a sexy Daddy that can not be beat. The romance is sweet and steamy and the spice is spicy enough. 🌶🌶

Very good book, with another anti-marriage, anti-kids man laid low by a baby. Pierce had closed himself off emotionally after losing everyone he had cared about. When he ended up with custody of his son, he needed a nanny immediately - one who would keep "the boy" far away from him. Anna is perfect for the job, but has her own son to care for also. Anna can't believe how cold and distant Pierce is, and tries to get him to bond with his son. Pierce is very distrustful, and doesn't really believe that Anna is as good as she seems. He is sure she has an angle of some sort. He finds that she is getting under his skin, and starts to interact with his son. When his son's mother returns and takes Graham home, he dismisses Anna and tries to return to his former life. The conclusion was great, and I loved the epilogue.

i thought that this book was exceptionally good, especially considering some of the fare available lately from harlequin. both the hero and heroine had really awful things in their pasts to overcome, but the hero was still walking wounded compared to the heroine. he tried so very hard to avoid any true intimacy with a woman, while she opened herself up to loving.

Two adorable toddlers that makes your heart melt and a mother that loves unconditionally...Pierce was so ruthless but I loved how determined Anna was to shatter his walls where the kids and others were concerned...Loved this book and how it turned out to the very end except for Kat's character albeit she seemed happy

Pierce Hollister is afraid of children and finds out he is a daddy and doesn't want to be. He ends up with the child and hires nanny Anna Aronson who decides maybe she should teach him how to be a daddy. First time I read a book by Emilie Rose and I enjoyed it. I will look for more books by her.

I really enjoyed this book. Love stories in which children are present are interesting in that you see a different side of the hero, something that is very true for this book. The main characters were likable, the plot was good, the ending was great - all around a good story.
