Rate this book
A spontaneous, passion-filled Vegas romp with a sheikh is out of the ordinary for sensible Laurel Kincaid. She's walked the straight-and-narrow her entire life and has wound up with more stress and conflict than she can handle. Indulging in a jaunt with irresistible Rakin Whitcomb Abdellah is a delicious escape. So delicious that she says "I do" to a short-term marriage of convenience so he can claim his inheritance. But being husband and wife behind closed doors is more tantalizing than either of them expected, and suddenly the rules of their temporary marriage feel very inconvenient….

This is another Kincaid book about the oldest daughter Lauren who jilted Eli in the last book. Laurel has always been perfect, trying to be a role-model for her siblings, working for the company but she is tired of it and wants adventure.

The hero is a friend of her ex-fiancee who needs a temporary wife and Lauren fits the bill, so he takes her on an adventure to Vegas and afterwards propositions her, marry him temporarily and in return he would help her family's struggling company.

They get married and it is kind of platonic, but they do sleep together a few time & then suddenly Lauren falls for him and when the hero expresses his desire to not have kids, leaves, since he has his company, the thing he married her for.

Of course she ends up pregnant but he shows up for her not knowing that fact and is in love with her. I found the book dull actually, it wasn't bad but nothing special either.

Laurel Kincaid is tired of being the perfect daughter, perfect sister, and perfect fiancée. She needs a little excitement in her life, and a trip to Las Vegas with a complete stranger fits the bill. Little does she know that her partner on this jaunt, Rakin Whitcomb Abdellah, has more serious plans in mind - ones that include a marriage of convenience.

The books in this Harlequin series have been hit and miss, and this, unfortunately, falls into the latter category.

Laurel and Rakin have good chemistry and their interactions are sizzling. That said, the entire situation is completely contrived and the conflict annoying. Laurel was well aware that Rakin had no interest in anything other than a short and convenient marriage, yet has a hissy fit when he reminds her of the fact. Rakin for his part overcomes his reluctance to remain married and father children far too quickly.

Once again, there is no development in the ongoing mystery of who killed Reginald Kincaid although the identity of the culprit is becoming more clear with the character's every appearance.

The next book is the final installment, and based on the snippets at the end of each of the other books, I am looking forward to Jack and Nikki's story. I really hope it lives up to expectations.

Loved the book - there's nothing like a sexy sheikh to make fun reading. Laurel was tired of being the sensible sister, and decided to make a "Get a Life" list. On that list was "flirt with a stranger". Rakin was fascinated by Laurel when he met her at Eli and Kara's wedding. Eli had suggested asking Laurel for her help in claiming his inheritance, so that is what he did. He offered Laurel the opportunity for the adventures she wanted in exchange for her help. Once they were married, Laurel found herself really liking Rakin and the man she was getting to know. That liking turned into love, and she started to dream of a future with him. Rakin had not really been exposed to love, and had had no intention of marrying. As he gave in to his attraction for Laurel, the intensity made him very nervous and he kept trying to withdraw and bury his feelings. When their differing outlooks caused a rift, Laurel returned to Charleston. I loved seeing Laurel as she let go of her inhibitions and started to enjoy life. I enjoyed seeing Rakin's attempts to deny his feelings, and his capitulation at the end.

I fould the story very enjoyable. I do wish it gave a little more insight to the murder of her father, and about her half-brother Jack. The way the series was written it's leaving a lot of pressure to sum it all up on one suthors shoulders.

As we are getting to the last book,I have my suspect who killed Patriarch Kincaid. We will see if I am right. Also I have an idea who has the last 10%.
Thank goodness Laurel decided to let loose after breaking off with Eli. Also Eli playing cupid without realizing it could or would happen worked out well.
Once again a parent’s lack of love almost costs their son finding love and happiness.
Now for the ending!!!!

This Kincaid series just isn't hooking my interest. I'm having trouble caring about who killed the father, or why he led a double life with two families for several decades. The characters just seem shallow and boring to me. And if the little chapter at the end of each installment about Jack and Nikki is probably supposed to whet my whistle for the ongoing saga, but it's not working.

Usually read one of these HQNs in one or two sittings, and this one took several days.

not at all a bad read, just pretty predictable. the obscenely rich sheikh who needs to cpontract a marriage of convenience in order to become the head of the company he runs, and the heroine who has a heart of gold and routinely puts everyone else's needs above her own.
