I write not only for my own pleasure, but for the pleasure of my readers. I can’t remember a time in my life when I haven’t written and told stories. When I’m not writing, I’m dreaming about writing, doing something wild and adventurous, or trying to make the world a better and more open minded place to live in. I adore beautiful men, and I know I’m not alone in this! Eroticism between consenting adults, in all its many forms is the icing on the cake of life!

The Melting Ice books are part of one of my favorite DJ series. The men are tough, the threats to life and limb are terrible and imminent, and the evil gangsters who make everyone’s life miserable and honorable always seem to be winning until the last moment. Then there are the slightly flawed detectives or federal agents who protect the victims of injustice or those about to testify with unstoppable determination. Oh, yes, and there is always romance. Not the frilly kind, but the deeply moving and emotional kind that becomes visible through action rather than words. What more could you want?

Cal, a criminal’s foster son is in a pretty tough predicament. Forced into a life he didn’t want, he has no way out until he runs into agent Dominic. He’s chased down by him, actually. Interestingly, Dominick has his own issues, and Cal is fully aware of them. It doesn’t make their journey to safety any easier, nor does it help melt the ice around Dominick’s heart.

If you like reading about two men on opposite sides of the law battling it out and falling for each other, if the idea of a not-so-white-knight standing up to save a not-so-innocent victim has your interest and if you think you can deal with the tension of will-they-will-they-not, then you will love this book. I adore it!

This series is bad boy with a good heart written all over it. In book 4 which can be read as a standalone, the latest bad boy to corrupt a cop is Claixto Medina. Cal is not exactly a bad boy. The circumstances of his situation are horrific. What was done to him as a child is wrong and I cannot condone it. It makes me see red and I want to kill this so called "good guy" who saves him from being on the streets. There is no way to state it other than pedophilia is wrong. Now Cal is stuck in a situation where he has to be under protection by a U.S. Marshal, Dominick Sawyer.

Dominick and his team pull a fast one on Cal to get him into protective custody. What looks like a simple operation turns into something ugly fast. And isn't because Cal is hitting on Dominick or because Cal remembers Dominick from a time in the past. It is because Dominick's past is not as finished and over as he thought.

I like this series. These are fast appetizer erotic suspense with guys I like. Yes, the male characters are formulaic and that is what ties the series together. Well, the stereotypes of the bad versus good guys plus the decrepit cabin in the woods. At this point, shouldn't someone fix this cabin up a little bit? I digress. The series keeps my attention because there are no absolutes. There are gray areas which makes requires a review of the situation case by case basis. In addition, the guys are all created differently enough that they keep a reader interested and wanting to learn more. The imperfect conclusions with a bittersweet ending also keeps me interested because whilst the good guy doesn't exactly lose, they don't exactly win either.

From an erotic perspective, D.J. Manly definitely hits all the right spots. The sexy build up between the characters as they protest and try not to give "into sin" is adorable. The tension adds heat to when the characters finally get it on. The sex is not exactly kinky but it isn't vanilla either. This bit of rough play is just the right balance. Looking forward to reading the rest of this series. This erotic suspense is recommended to m/m readers who enjoy redeemable bad boys.

So far my favorite from Melting Ice series.
Very unlikely pair, as usual, and I have to say I didn't like Cal much at first, but just as his pov started, I immediately warmed up to him. He's sweet and caring person, despite his hard living. Dominick's great too, I loved him from the beginning and you won't believe me I even felt for Percy at the end. The last scene with him and his desperate feelings for Dominick were sympathetic to me.

And great HEA, finally!!! xD I've always felt the endings of previous parts had been left... a little unsaid. I would've liked HEA to be more explicit and here it was - Cal and Dominick's happy future together. I'm happy! :)

Cal is tricked into witness protection and put under guard of Dominick. Cal knows a lot of things but didn't plan on talking. Little does Dominick and Cal know it was all a trap. Cal eventually recognizes Dominick from a party he attended with George. Dominick was with Percy who he had to investigate and threaten with jail to get Percy to leave him alone. Percy arranged the trap to get Dominick. When Dominick and Cal find out, they run to a new hiding place where they finally get together. Cal to save Dominick goes to confront Percy. Dominick follows and together they take out Percy. Cal testifies for real and gets a new identity. Eventually he contacts Dominick and they get together for good as they both wanted.

I love this indie author! I feel like he's an MVP of writing gay romance. You should also check out Jacob Z. Flores when you have the chance.

This story is the weakest in terms of plot in for this series. I really didn't believe Claixto's love at first sight claims especially when at the time he was at sex party being offer as a sexual favor to some random character and the love of your life was being drug and most possibly being rape by his at the time boyfriend. The fact that you only remember the person years later because of a tattoo on his ass cheek doesn not get me to buy the cookies your selling. I felt that everything was rush and ridiculous for the characters to fall in love the that small period of time. I will be continuing this series because these book are meant to be comfort read not life changing one. Sometimes you just need to say "FUCK IT".

I can't pass up a good wit sec romance...and this one was good. I loved the beginning of the series. I was afraid for book 2, but loved it too. I almost wish they would stop while they are still fun. I didn't like these MC's as much. I like a little more angst in my wit sec :) Enjoyable but not necessarily a re-read. I'll keep reading future Melting Ices, because even a mediocre MI is better than a lot of others...but I wish there was a little more work the MC's had to do to get their HEA.

Dominick is a Marshall who has been assigned to protect Calixto, a "boytoy" (for lack of better words) of a mobster. Cal apparently knows Dominick before and he is determined to 'melt' the ice around Dominick's heart. The story is light, even if involves gunshots. The ending is pretty lovey-dovey, and since I am a bit in the mood for something edgy, I can only think this one as a bit so and so

"There once was a cabin in the woods ...." ingredients that characterize the series are all there, plus there is a sweet / bitter that surrounds the lives of the protagonists and we must wait for the finale of the most moving.
