Society of the Nines

Rate this book
The wig, the fear, and the weapon; those are the first things private investigator Mahayla Breland notices when Emma Chapin walks in her door. All Emma wants is for Mahayla to find her missing son, a man on the run from a Cult that proves to have far darker, more sinister intentions than Mahayla could have ever imagined.

What begins as an innocuous missing persons case turns into a deadly game of cat-and-mouse — a game both Mahayla and the Society of the Nines are playing to win.

This is a first book in the The Society of Nines Mystery Series.

This book really pulled me in. It started off being like a really good mystery, with a little thriller thrown in. the characters and plot were well drawn and that pulled me in completely and kept my attention until the end.

As the story progressed, however, things started to nudge into the front...paranormal/mystical like things. I really liked this book a lot, but at the ams time there was that undercurrent going on that made me feel like there was more going on that just a simple mystery story.

By the end of the story, I was so engulfed in the characters, that I knew I would be buying the next book(s) in the series.

Four stars.

Quite a good and fast read. I love the free book that draw you in and this book did exactly that! The plot was quick and somewhat unpredictable. If you read a lot the society part seemed familiar to other plots from other secret society type books, but otherwise unique approach. There was suspense, action, relationships, etc. I recommend this book as well as the rest of the trilogy!
