This was an exciting end to the Fitzgerald Bay continuity series. I wish Ryan had been mentioned more than 'in passing' in the previous books, because it felt almost like we knew Meghan more than we knew the actual Fitzgerald sibling the book was about. Ahh well, we got to know Ryan fairly quickly through the fast-paced action surrounding the final mystery of who killed Olivia and *why*. A theory I'd made in the previous book in the series held out, but the killer's motives were a surprise to me. I really appreciated the theme of forgiveness and humility and liked how both Ryan and Meghan learned to humble themselves before God and the people who'd hurt them and ask for and grant forgiveness. 3.5 stars
I read this book as a standalone without any problem. It was action filled with suspense, and a dash of romance. Meghan Henry is a journalist that won’t stop or give up till she finds out who killed her cousin. She is also desperately searching for her niece. Ryan Fitzgerald is a deputy chief of the Fitzerald Bay Police department. It was fun to watch him fall in love with Meghan. He was there to protect Meghan when things heated up. With that being said, Meghan was no damsel in distress. She was a very strong heroine, who was not afraid of danger. Meghan would face down a whole gang of kidnappers if that’s what it took to get her niece back. I really enjoyed this book!
I really enjoyed this clean, love-inspired, suspenseful romance. I bought this at a local goodwill and I voluntarily chose to review this story. I've given it a 5* rating. These men hardly know what hit's them when they meet the right woman. Lots of indecision on his part but the heroine is consistent in her goals. But someone is out to get them when they least expect it. Lots of action to keep you turning the page and answers toward the end. Good ending.
I found this final Fitzgerald Bay book to wrap up the series nicely, although the time frame in which all six of the siblings find their lifemates (under a year) felt a bit forced. That said, I love that Ryan and Meghan were antagonists and then formed a relationship when they are forced to work together.
First five were great! I wish I had given #6 a miss!
There were so many factual errors in this book it put me on edge from the beginning! Even knowing this book is nothing but fiction we still need to find the words written believable! There was nothing endearing about the main character and a lot to dislike! I couldn’t finish the book leaving the last 4 chapters unread!
too much praying! Was quite a good plot. Ryan Fitzgerald is the eldest from 6 siblings and Meghan has no family except the young daughter of her cousin Olivia, who had given her baby up for adoption before she was murdered.

This is the only book in the Fitzgerald Bay series I have read. Ryan and Meghan's story. Crime and mystery. tv over reading a book... tv maybe quicker but reading involves more.
This book contains a very good suspense story of over 20 chapters. It is followed by a sort historical story of 8 chapters. Both stories are good reading fun.
The final installment of the Fitzgerald Bay series (and the one in which Olivia Henry's murderer is finally revealed) concerns oldest brother Ryan and freelance journalist Megan Henry, who happens to be Olivia's cousin.
We first meet Meghan early in the series....she is determined to find her cousin's murderer, as Olivia was the only family she had left. The recipient of the note written to Olivia's "sweetheart" is revealed, as well as indiscretions from family patriarch Aiden Fitzgerald - which happened when his children were still quite small.
Ryan cannot forgive his father for what happened long ago, as it indirectly relates to Olivia's death. It turns out Olivia's murderer is responsible for at least one other death as well......the person is involved in a baby trafficking ring with an older brother. Ryan and Meghan go through several hair-raising close calls, as they strive to protect little Georgina.
Ryan, who always had vowed he would never marry, is surprised that Meghan has penetrated his gruff exterior during the months she's been in Fitzgerald Bay. As they come to care for one another, Megan is faced with a terrible choice...secure financial stability to gain custody of Georgina by writing an expose which will reveal Aiden Fitzgerald's indiscretions. Ryan finds the article on Megan's laptop and the resulting argument leaves her heart-broken.
Since these stories always end happily, one knows the pair will be reunited....but not until after the baby traffickers kidnap Megan and threaten to throw her off the same cliff where they had killed her cousin six months earlier. Predictable and a bit pat in some of the resolutions, but an enjoyable beach read with a happily ever after ending.
The Deputy's Duty was all I hoped it would be and then some.
Meghan is desperate to find out the secrets that are buried in Fitzgerald Bay starting with who killed her cousin Olivia and bringing her cousin's murder to justice. Things quickly become complicated for Meghan when Deputy Chief Ryan Fitzgerald enters the picture. Having escaped an abusive marriage Meghan does not trust men and trusts the Fitzgeralds who she feels betrayed her cousin even less. Unfortunately for Meghan through a series of events she has to work with Ryan or risk being left out while the investigation is carried out.
Ryan Fitzgerald is the oldest of the Fitzgerald siblings and use to being in charge and seeing as how Meghan is pushy and demanding answers he is not really sure how to deal with it at first. Plus he has the stress of tying to solve Olivia's murder.
The relationship between Meghan and Ryan stared in a previous book in the series but until The Deputy's Duty it was not obvious that they had feelings for each other. One of the best parts is how they are both scared to admit what they are feeling for each other and just sort of retreat into themselves about how they are feeling toward the other.
Each book in the Fitzgerald Bay series was written by a different author and it was nice seeing the different styles of each author. However what I really liked about the series was the set up of how the case of Olivia's murder was handled among each book. Clues were given which could have suggested several different people and reasons. When the truth was finally revealed a couple parts took me by surprise which was also nice.
Terri Reed has a nice writing style and I adored how everything was kept Pg13.
The Deputy's Duty by Terri Reed Fitzgerald Bay Series Book 6 Deputy Chief Ryan Fitzgerald is the oldest of the clan. The protector who watches over his family and doesn't have time for a relationship, especially with the pesky reporter who's been in town for six months trying to help solve her cousins murder. That's his job. When Ryan finds he's best off taking Meghan Henry with him instead of having her follow him...he finds another person he wants to protect.
Meghan’s last relation had been taken from her when Olivia was murdered and she was determined to get justice for her cousin. She receives a letter with information that rocks her world along with Ryan’s. After spending time with the handsome deputy she finds he is not like her cruel ex-husband, quite the opposite. When it comes down to a major crossroads in her life Meghan must choose between Ryan or her cousin’s last wish. Can God give her both of her desires?
Terri ties all the loose ends together to complete this exciting series. Ryan and Meghan have villains to face along with the past. And it seems their query is always two steps ahead of them, causing them to spend more time together. Some great twists and turns in this last book along with letting people know some hard truths about the past so that one family member can be set free from their secret burden.
I was quite disappointed in the final book. The authors did such a great job in books 1-5. I was very impressed and very excited to finally get the answers. I was disappointed in the suspenseful happenings themselves. But I was disappointed in how everything worked out so perfectly for the Fitzgerald family. I think there was a lesson to be learned here, and it wasn't learned.
I did not like Meghan at all! The fact that she shows up at the ex-housekeeper's house with a car seat shows what she was planning. From that point on, I had trouble respecting her. She did so many things to disappoint me throughout the story. I did't care much for Ryan either. It took a while for me to warm up to him, and I think he could have found such a better woman to marry! The decision that Meghan made out of desperation out of the end of the book was so wrong - I think she should have been the one apologizing - not Ryan!!!
Oh, and by the way, remember Tyler from the first book? What happened to him? He seems to suddenly disappear...
Suspense, but no sex, but you WANT the characters to be together so badly and have their HEA... (and the heroine mentions "six little Fitzgeralds" at the end - so we know they're going have a very. abundant. family. wink wink ;)) The 4th Inspy I've ever read, but the first contemporary/suspense one, and I didn't know this was the "final book" in the Fitzgerald Bay series. So when the MAIN mystery was finally solved, I was like, "Oh, snap." (It's definitely an extreme plot, but it's a "Love Inspired Suspense".) I had a little bit of trouble believing that this deputy chief would be so chaste, but what I appreciated most about this one was watching the hero work through his own issues and troubles (with the help of the heroine and his faith of course). I also really liked that Meghan was such a strong character. I just wish I read these "in order". *shrug* over all - GREAT story - I enjoyed it.
This is a very enjoyable mystery with some tense moments, and some tender ones also. Ryan Fitzgerald is struggling with forgiveness after he finds out a family secret. Meghan Henry has her own reasons, as a reporter, for investigating the same crime Ryan is working on. This ends up creating some interesting circumstances that will keep you turning pages. Ethical choices, murder, family relationships, baby selling, and a sweet romance all factor into the plot. The added short Christian historical fiction novella by Jillian Hart, An Enduring Love, is excellent also. My only complaint is that it is too short. I wanted to have the story filled out a bit more, but readers usually feel that way with a novella.
This is the last book in the Fitzgerald Bay Series # 6. It action adventure package awesome book. About Ryan the oldest son who Deputy Chief of Police and try is hard to hide out who kill Olivia Henry. When this Olivia Henry cousin Meghan Henry freelance journalist paid a visit to sheriff and what to know how the investigation is going and that she is going to be looking for Olivia's baby on her own and Ryan put his foot down and said no that is to dangerous the people are like the mob. It need to be handle by the professional.
I liked that all of the loose ends were tied up in the main murders, but wanted a longer epilogue. I thought it was a very sweet romance. It felt very real considering all that was going on. Everyone involved had very real emotions that they took their time to deal with, it wasn't just epiphany and easy life. I felt like there was a real closure, but would love another book of just weddings and a summary of everyone's next year.
This was one of those Out-with-a-BANG! series finales that knocked it out of the ball park:] Yes, I really enjoyed it that much lol. This 'episode' involved the entire family and Ms. Reed did an OUTSTANDING job at balancing the plot (incl. the chemistry btwn Ryan and Meghan) and the subplot featuring the Fitzgerald family as they struggle with the family secret intro'd in the previous book.
All-in-all, this is awesomesauce and everyone should read it^_^
The final book in the Fitzgerald Bay series. Can't wait to see what happens to Ryan and Meghan. Hoping to find out more about about the Fitzgerald Secret and also who killed Olivia.Ryan and Meghan have a lot of adventures. The secret that Aiden Fitzgerald was keeping finally comes out. Olivia's killer is finally found. I really hate to see the series come to an end.
As the final book in the Fitzgerald Bay series, the underlying mystery was finally solved. Although fairly average, the plot was definitely a little too far-fetched for me. However, this line of suspense/romance books from Steeple Hill are very simple, Christian and clean which is a plus. Probably 2 1/2 stars.
