An old bayou fisherman tells how his great-great-grandfather wrestled an alligator, rescued a captive maid from pirates, and became the hero of the Battle of New Orleans.

Fun story told by an old man about his ancestor, the "unknown hero" of the War of 1812, Old Hasdrubal and his run-in with Captain Lafitte and his band of pirates.
This was a very entertaining adventure picture book which is pretty rare. It's about an old fisherman who tells a young lad in a boat all about his great-great-grandfather, Old Hasdrubal, and how he skinned an alligator, fools a gang of cut-throat pirates, including the famous Captain Lafitte, and helped America defeat the Britsh in a battle of New Orleans! Fun pictures, very amusing story, and a rare find. My rating - 4/5
