Dani Perez’s life is turned upside down when she finds out her twin sister’s child is dying. How far will the ex cop go to save his life, especially when somewhere out there a killer lurks...a killer who wants to silence her forever?
Dani Perez is on a mission to clear her dead husband’s name when she finds out her only nephew has a terminal illness. A desperate scheme concocted to save the child’s life sends her to a swanky hotel in downtown Dallas dressed in a tight dress and spiked heels. Her job is to seduce a Dallas anesthesiologist, but she never expected that old emotions she thought were long buried would resurface or that the good doctor would be accused of murdering his wife. Nor does she realize she has unwittingly become the prey for someone who thinks she is getting too close and will stop at nothing to keep his secret safe...until it’s too late.
I couldn't put this one down. High drama, suspense, love and honor, intrigue and one strong, yet womanly, heroine. If you haven't read Lizbeth Lipperman's debut novel, I strongly encourage you to do so. I had the pleasure of reading this while I was down with the flu - and I almost forgot I was sick! Can't wait for your next book!
How far would you go to save a child's life? Dani Perez draws a line that some of us may not cross. Lying and stealing, possibly. But dressing as a hooker to get someone's DNA?
The result of Dani's deception brings on all sorts of trouble she never anticipated and hampers her ability to solve the issues around her husband's death a few years before.
Liz Lipperman does a great job of weaving a story with elements of romance, sex, and danger along with some very interesting and memorable characters. My only complaint was that she didn't make the book a little longer to more fully flesh out one story thread. All the same, she had me flipping pages to get to the end.
"Wow!" A premise that I've never read before! Fast-paced, interesting and filled with family love...I mean, what lengths would you go to save the life of someone you love? Almost anything? Maybe more than you ever thought you would do? This is such a great story, I can't wait for the next one by Lizabeth Lipperman.
What would do if you found out your nephew was dying? Dani Perez’s twin sister’s son is dying. There is a long shot cure that would save him but can Dani follow through on the crazy plan the sisters come up with. She is also trying to clear her husband’s name. He was killed during a bust and has been labeled a “dirty cop”. Her entire world is turned upside down as she tries to complete and survive both missions.
Dollycas’s Thoughts This is one of those stories that I don’t want to tell you too much about so that I don’t ruin any of the suspense. I read the whole thing in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down.
This is a exciting story with really strong family relationships. The things we do for love. Dani puts her life on the line for both her nephew and her husband’s memory.
The author takes us with these characters on a journey of love, loss, surprise, tension, fear, worry, and hope in an extraordinary way.
This is my first Liz Roth novel that I would classify as a romantic thriller. I hope she has another one it the works because I definitely want more!! I highly recommend this one.
I had got this book free on kindle. I didn't start reading it for a close to a year. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. Dani is desperate to save her nephew, who needs a bone marrow transplant. They then discovered when Dani's sister got IVF the lab mixed up sperm samples. Dani a former cop now PI tracks down her nephew's real father to see if he is a match. She goes at it in an unorthodox way. She decides to seduce him and to get his semen sample. I was a bit like no way is she doing that. I felt so bad for Nathan, he was just getting used all around. Then after he sleeps with this mystery woman his horrible wife is found dead, and he is accused of it. Some other things happen, dani and nate must work together. They had their HEA. This was a nice read. Cute ending all around.
This was a cute little mystery type romance. Dani was sweet, but I didn't get the feeling that she was an ex-cop. She acted more like a scared little woman. I felt no back bone as you would expect from an officer.
The plot was interesting, the twists certainly weren't what you expected. I just wish Dani had been stronger.
The fact that Nate fell in love with her, after sleeping with her once and thinking she's a hooker was a bit too much, there's wasn't a whole lot of development there. The ending was maybe a little rushed. It's not a bad book, it passed the afternoon away from me. Would I read it again, probably not.
Mortal Deception is a fantastic book by a phenomenal author! Dani is a former cop turned private investigator. Her husband, who was also a cop, was killed and she is trying to find out why. Dani will do anything for her family and sometimes gets in over her head. She tries to prove her husband's innocence and save her nephew's life while unwittingly putting her own life in danger. I loved the fast paced action, the twists and turns and the way this book kept me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend this book!

I had gotten this book as a free offer on my Kindle. Certainly glad I didn't pay money for it. It was predictable and had a so-so story line. It suited my purpose though as fluff to read poolside.
Overall, a decent thriller. I enjoyed the genetics aspect. A few times it was annoying to not know who was speaking, though I understand it created suspense.
