The Predator

Rate this book
To some people the chase is everything…

The Predator had been stalking his prey for several months. He knew where she lived, where she worked, where she shopped. Covert surveillance of her home had given him a detailed pattern of her comings and goings. A discreet check of her trashcan had given him a bounty of personal information. With full name and address, her date of birth, he'd been able to visit the courthouse and search through the list of registered voters to obtain her social security number. The rest was easy.

It was hot inside the battered Dodge van. The Predator took a long drink of his soda and wiped sweat from his brow with a shop towel, glancing toward the mobile home a few hundred yards distant and occasionally raising his binoculars for a closer look. He knew from past observation his prey seldom rose before three PM, so he waited patiently, enduring the sweltering heat. A greasy blue notebook crammed with notes lay open on the seat beside him; a copy of his prey's divorcee decree, irreconcilable differences; her birth certificate; high school and college transcript, an honor student; a complete medical history and detailed credit report. He suspected he knew more about her than she knew about herself. The idea of taking her made his cock swell inside his mechanic's coveralls. It wouldn't be long now...

This is a short but powerful story, and definitely scary to me, and I suspect most women. A man becomes obsessed with a woman he doesn't know, but is able to find out all the facts of her life. He sets up an isolated and very secure place to abduct her to, away from society. Then manoeuvres a fake situation where he can snatch, drug and immobilise, restrain and remove this person to his prepared dungeon. Here the predatory rapist can use his victim, control and make his fantasies reality without any regard to her. What a scary premise. This whole scenario has been well written, and I'm not sure whether deliberate or not, but it is written from the predator's viewpoint and where the victim although known about in minute detail is not known as a fellow human being with personality, some one to be related to. How scary, it made my heart pound. Then the thought, what happens when he gets fed up, when she is no longer of value, or his preconceived ideal or fantasy, then they have crossed the major taboo threshold of taking and raping or sexually and emotionally using another for their own pleasure but how much does it take for that person to take the next step and wipe out the problem and so serial rapists and murderers are created. I read this as part of my taboo challenge within the Goodreads BDSM group. I found it a serious challenge to my comfort zone. I didn't find this erotic or a turn on and I reiterate scary.
It is a 3 - 3.5 stars in my opinion for this short story.

Muy frio en impersonal. Al ser en tercera persona podía al menos decir como se siente ella, pero el relato se centra en el personaje masculino y no es más que una lista de cosas que está haciendo, he sentido la misma emoción que si leyese la lista de la compra.
