Oh I loved this one. I'm usually not big on MM books, but this one is a prelude to a MMF book I've got lined up as my next read. And I'm really happy I read this one first. It was also nice to read something good after the previous train wreck of a book I've been unfortunate enough to read.

I loved both Trevor (shifter) and Lawrence (vamp). Their story was both genuine and heart warming. I can't wait for Lily to join this twosome. If this book is an indication to this author's skill with words, I have a feeling I'm in for a real treat with this series.

Sadly, this series seems to suffer from real bad covers. But, I'm ignoring the bad book-art, and diving right into the stories.

A nice novella, I think that more than the two men, the real protagonist is New Orleans, the city where they are living; it’s the city, with its magic, that allows these men to be able to cohabitating with humans and not arising suspicious questions.

At the beginning of the story, Trevor is a drifter, after losing is home due to Katrina hurricane; he is living on the streets, but that is not, unfortunately, not strange. Then one night he cannot avoid to rescue a woman from a rogue vampires’s attack, and that is the time when he meets Lawrence, an ancient vampire who is self-patrolling the streets.

Lawrence helps Trevor, not without a personal interest in the young werewolf, but neither imposing himself on the guy; Trevor is quick in declaring himself straight, and Lawrence, who doesn’t consider gender an element to exclude a possible relationship, understands he has to let the young man go to have a chance for him to come back.

There is a bit of cinderfella feeling in this story, Lawrence is apparently well off and can afford to satisfy every desire of Trevor, and truth be told, they are simple and nice desires like having a Christmas tree, nothing really complicated to realize. Again, in a city that is alive by night more or less like it’s by day, it’s easy to find a place where to buy Christmas lights.

With patience and a little wooing, Lawrence will courtship Trevor right into his bed and heart.

Lawrence and Trevors story…
This is the Prequel to the other two books – it is the story when Trevor was getting beat to crap and Lawrence saved him.
What we read in the first book of Trevor’s family – we recap in this book. We do learn his father’s name when he was running in the woods and a wolf pack come to check him out.. he tells them the name of his father and claims immunity.
Lawrence tells us of his love of a woman that was murdered but we didn’t really learn anything new … to grow any closer to him.
I enjoyed the in depth story of my two favorite characters – but did we need it? I did learn that the book store was started by the two of them.
I just learned that the little flag at the end of a book on my nook is for me to share I’m finished and to rate the book on B&N. So I did this to my recent books and when I rated my favorite books by Louisa Bacio… I seen this book was newly available.. So I quickly tapped the purchase button on my nook.
