Pulp Legend Emerson LaSalle is back, and to introduce him to a new generation of readers, we present this short story. It's hi-powered pulp sci-fi action. Aliens are invading! Who can stop them. Harry DAMN Truman. That's who.
*** This short story serves as a prologue to the hi-adventure pulp sci-fi tale THERE ARE ALIENS BEHIND URANUS, MR. PRESIDENT now available for KINDLE. ***
Includes a critical introduction from Adam Openheimer, Ph.D.
A pulp inspired tale of President Truman's visit to Area 51 in a crisis. Aliens were coming!
Three of them attacked, wiping out a whole company of Rangers and the Secret Service team guarding Truman. They were after a captured flying saucer. The Rangers and the SS team, though wiped out to a man, took out two of the aliens, leaving Truman with a pistol to face the last one.
Emerson LaSalle is to be the main character of a film, PULP BOY, written by Anthony Neil Smith and Victor Gischler. Which one wrote this little gem I'm not sure. Maybe both.
Historical context matters: If this were actually vintage pulp, it might qualify as a guilty retro-pleasure. As a 2011 creation of the nonexistent Emerson LaSalle, however, it is merely guilty.
You are, of course, familiar with the classic pulp work of Emerson LaSalle, right? Long unappreciated and unavailable, LaSalle’s work is finally getting its due and will no doubt usher in a new generation of fans. The title of this story pretty much sums it up: Aliens invade Earth, but the mistake is theirs when they try to destroy America. Not on President Harry Truman’s watch, alien scum.
