Cover is intriguing, though admittedly the situation shown isn't new. I am not sure how many stories have been written with someone trying to prove Clark Kent and Superboy/Superman is the same person but it is alot, many featuring Lois Lane and/or Lana Lang. I am not usre how much of a threat this guy is though. That doesn't look like enough explosive to be a threat to anyone but the person wearing it. Of course I don't pretend to be an expert on explosives so maybe it is. The story itself was not bad. We do get to see a few events from Clark's previous life as Superboy that hadn't been covered before.
The Supergirl story has her father tryng to collect her tears. He is under the control of the Phantom Zone prisoners so of course it is for some nefarious purpose. Somehow her tears will supposedly allow one or more of them to cross from the Phantom Zone to our world. Since these are some of the blackest villains Krypton ever knew this is definitely not a good thing. Jax-Ur is able to cross over and plans to collect more tears so as to open the rift even further to allow more of the villains out. However Supergirl is able to thwart his plans, with some assistance from another denizen of the Phantom Zone. This was a fairly good story. Mind you part of depends on some sort of latent esp-type powers that Fred Danvers (Supergirl's adopted father) possesses. These powers had not been shown before, as far as I know, and apparently were knocked out of him at the end of the story and thus never appeared again. Still and all, an interesting tale.
One thing I will note. This comic came out in early 1962 when I still lived in Quebec. It wasn't until I moved to Ontario in the summer of that year that I really got into comics. That would explain why I didn't read this one when it first came out. Still a decent enough comic. Happy reading.
