"For those who were born before or after their time..."

That described Pam. She'd always felt that she'd been born too late--there was no chivalry in the world anymore. She'd only wanted to commune with the universe while reading a "moon rhyme" in the antique book she'd purchased from the local New Age shop. She had not expected guests--especially not Jasper and Margaret, summoned one hundred years into the future by the rhyme just as Jasper was proposing to Margaret.

Now the displaced visitors insist that they be returned to 1910, and Pam and her roommate Robin agree--an Internet check confirms that Margaret and Jasper were married by year end, 1910. But the rhyme won't work until the next moon cycle, and in the intervening month, forbidden love blooms between Pam and Jasper, and Robin and Margaret.

Threaded Through Time Boxed Set Books One and Two — Sarah Ettritch (Book One: 13 chapters; Book Two: 18 chapters) June 26-July 1, 2018

Note: This paranormal (as in past characters comes to future via a mystic reading) involves lesbian characters in a consensual relationship. If that may bother you, skip this and read something else.

This is a two book set. I will review each book individually in their own book space; give a brief description here, and then review the book as a whole in this space.

Book One: 6/26-28, 2018 Two stars.
Two friend live in a house together, one straight, one lesbian. The straight is pining for Mr. Right, who loves old b/w films, pulls a early 19th century gentleman, and his fiancée to 2010 using a moon rhyme. Will she want him to leave?

The lesbian ain’t got no time trying to find a companion, and maybe doesn’t want that, gets caught up in the story and wants them to leave.

Book Two: 6/28-29, 2018 Three stars.
Continues the story and the drama, with more emphasis on Pam in 1910.

————————

This was a great concept when I read the short blurb about it, but at first I was disappointed. The first book got really draggy and many of the chapters were long (79 pages;) also there was a lot of repeating dithering going on for one of the characters. I felt the story seemed to have the straight couple more fleshed out and the lesbian and her friend more unfinished. There was no real romance of any sort in the first book for the lesbian; in the second, sexual encounters were only alluded to for both couples. Robin seemed blasé for 90% of the first book, and even in the second, she seemed a bit more stiff than Margaret. I was disappointed in the first book, but the second book redeemed itself by being more engaging and ending on a strong note.

Three stars.
