This story reads like a bildungsroman, especially for the hero as he matures through his interactions with the heroine, his family, and when he comes to terms with himself. It is also a family novel in which the thoughts of the secondary characters are revealed and thus, become critical in pivoting the plot.

Our hero is Colin Brockhurst, Earl of Ravenshire, who returns home like the prodigal son, to prevent his father from selling his boyhood home, Sommerall, the place where his mother was laid to rest. Due to Colin’s wild reputation, his father issued an ultimatum: If Colin can prove that he’s changed – via marrying and settling down in 6 weeks’ time, then the estate will be transferred to Colin. The problem is, of course, where will Colin find a willing and suitable bride in such a short time?

Enter his childhood friend/adversary, Lady Angeline, who returned post causing a scandal through jilting a fiancé. No matter that her ex-fiancé was a horrible cheater, Angeline bore the brunt of the scandal, which drove a wedge between her and her father, with the chance of jeopardizing her beloved young sister’s debut. She has a special skill in renovating rooms, and it is not long before she joins Colin in renovating Sommerall, despite his attempts to push her away.

Due to the closeness of their families, it was predicted that Colin and Angeline would marry each other, but a youthful incident caused a falling out between the two, whose relationship slow began to mend, as Angeline became sympathetic to Colin’s frustration of needing to prove himself to preserve his mother’s memories in the form of Sommerall. It was not long before Colin concocted a plan – a marriage-of-convenience to Angeline to keep his property and repair her damaged reputation.

There are several significant virtues in this novel, one of which is Colin’s growth. In the beginning, he is like a wounded young bird, trapped in his past eight year-old self of losing his mother, unable to understand his father’s remarriage. His hurt was transcribed to Sommerall, and the intensity of his frustrations at being denied that was something only he, and later Angeline, understood. As the story progresses, Colin began to reflect on his past and truly move on emotionally with one part of his hurt.

"I’m glad my father found happiness with Margaret, but their lives went on and so did mine. No one is to blame. It was just the situation.” – Chapter 5

Yet, a part of him was still fixated on having Sommerall, and he was not above using Angeline for his goal.

“He meant to compromise her thoroughly, and then she would have no choice but to marry him.” Ch 11

However, through his interactions with Angeline, getting to know her and letting her heal him, that Colin came to truly see the result of his own actions, and grew to take responsibility for them.

“But he’d been a cad. He actually told her he wouldn’t abandon her if she found herself with child. Now he felt the shame bone-deep. She was the daughter of his father’s best friend, and he’d bedded her, without offering a single tender word. She deserved better.” – Ch 13

Initially, it is Angeline who gives her heart to Colin, all the while knowing he’s a rake who couldn’t make her promises. She does this secretly, holding back on her feelings for some time in fear that Colin does not love her, all the while soothing his hurt and championing his cause to his family. By the end of the story, their positions are reversed and Colin tries to win her back with his newly-realized love, which makes a wonderful dynamic of their relationship.

“Worse, she’d made it clear she didn’t want to marry him. He meant to change her mind, but first she must take her rightful place as Lady Angeline and then God willing, she would consent to marry him and become Lady Ravenshire.” – Ch 15

Indeed, Colin and Angeline take the crown in this story, but kudos also goes to the set of dynamically crafted, multi-dimensional secondary characters – Colin and Angeline’s family. They appear to be antagonist at first, respectively thwarting Colin’s plans and uncaring towards Angeline’s situation, yet it is soon revealed that behind the curtains, every parent was wishing the best for his/her child, in their own way of caring, however misguided.

Accolades to Vicky Dreiling for penning a fantastic bildungsroman romance of a loving, realistic set of a characters who not only have their own perspectives and perception, but manage to grown into better versions of themselves. A great tale of familial love and self-actualization, for two splendidly crafted characters.

What a disappointment...where to start?! PS. the review has some spoilers so don't read if you don't want to mess up ur book reading…

Here's what I DIDNT like about the book:

1) REPETITION....You can't believe just how much of this book is repeated...the dialogues, the thoughts, the doubts, even the scenes with the dog and his "water-closet" accidents are repeated...it's as if the author counted think of any events or forgot that the characters had already said that sentence! The whole story is built on 2 repeated arguments that Colin and Angeline have with themselves…she feels guilty about what she caused her family by the loss of her reputation (this is the cause for both her WANT AND REFUSAL to accept marriage to Colin…don’t ask me how) and He is obsessed with the house and what it means for him and what he should do to acquire it…and then the whole book is just these same thoughts over and over again…and some added boring scenes with the mother and sister that I find utterly irritating.

2) And the dialogue…my God! It’s like listening to teenagers talk on a cell phone! Low substance, and inconsistent to a degree that just want to make go “Really?! Some editor actually approved this?” and the switch in opinions in one conversation would drive u nuts! E.g. he plans to seduce her but feels bad about it, but he has every intention to go through with it… and then he talks and tells her to go to sleep and tries to stop her from touching him and reason that this is a bad idea and he respects her…ON THE OTHER HAND, SHE says she won’t allow him another kiss cus she was burnt before and she learnt her lesson and she doesn’t want to get her heart broken….and then SHE tries to convince him to get into bed with her and take off his cloths?! Really? aagghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

3) There was no realistic development of characters...Colin just went from being 31-year old total wastrel and rake to just a nice good son, brother and a perfect lover to Angeline...Angeline never actually developed! I can't believe there is a more confused and unstable woman at her age and at that time!

4) The back of the book says that “…unfortunately, the only woman he wants is the one whose heart he broke years ago”
…no where in the story is there a mention that these Colin and Angeline had been romantically attached. Just that he came to her come out drunk and he was supposed to dance with her but she refused. Since they are of the same age, born only 1 week apart, I would imagine that he was around 17 or 18 at the time…HE would probably have not been attending the come out in the first place, supposedly he would still be at Eton at that age…regardless, the story doesn’t show WHY they didn’t like each other and what exactly happened, so I imagine it wasn’t a big deal…but defiantly they were not in love as the summary says…

5) I understand that back in the old days the woman’s reputation would be hurt if she breaks her engagement but come on! She discovered him having sex with a slut of a lady, he opened the door half naked, she slapped him in anger and many people witnessed this…how is it that it all got on her head and no one condemned the man or the woman who was having sex with him in a bedroom during a social event?! The other thing is, how is it that both her father and brother didn’t do anything to defend her honor???? I hated her father cus he is such a wimp!

6) I read a lot of historical romance novels…most if not all say that a woman by the age of 24 or 25 is considered a spinster and with almost no hope of marriage…Angeline was 31 and they still thought that she has time to catch a husband? Plus, there was no proper explanation why she wasn’t really married…yes she was waiting for love but come on…she was a duke’s daughter with a fortune of her own and she’s pretty…dono…just doesn’t work out…

7) Also, a lot of the details of the story just don’t add up…a house that was left unopened for 25 years CANNOT be cleaned by ONE maid in 3 or 4 afternoons!!!!!! The maid would go in for few minutes and announces that the dining room had been dusted! The place sounded like it has been kept closed for few months not quarter of a century! And it has only one mouse :) how cute!

There are more things that bugged about this book but I won’t waste any more time on this review…I DON’T RECOMMENT IT…don’t waste your money and time…

To date I’ve read everything that has come from the pen of author Vicky Dreiling and I have to admit that she has not once failed to disappoint. Her books are always packed with plenty of exciting adventure, laughable moments and tender romance. What a Reckless Rogue is book two in her Sinful Scoundrel series and picks up almost right after What a Wicked Earl Wants. What a Reckless Rogue Needs is no exception to this rule. In traditional Dreiling fashion this book is filled with plenty sweet romantic goodness.
Colin Brockhurst, Earl of Ravenshire returns to his home when he learns that his father has plans to sell his boyhood home, Sommerall, the very place that is his mother’s final resting place. Colin is a known rakehell with a wild reputation. It is due to this reputation that causes his father to issue an ultimatum, to prove that he has matured and changed his ways by marrying someone within six weeks or lose Sommerall in a sale. Colin’s biggest challenge is the short amount of time he’s been given to find a willing bride, six weeks after all is not that much time.
Lady Angeline is no stranger to Colin or scandal. As one of his early childhood friends/rivals, Lady Angeline has also recently returned home following having jilted her fiancée. It did not matter that her ex-fiancée was a cheater and a liar, Angeline as a female still bore the brunt of the scandal which included driving a wedge between herself and her father. Angeline’s scandal could have other repercussions including causing trouble for her younger sister who is about to make her own debut.
Due to their closeness as children it was at one time assumed that Angeline and Colin would wed each other, but as an incident during their youth causes a falling out the pair went their separate ways. Angeline is not without sympathy towards Colin’s plight and soon puts her skill in room renovation to work on Sommerall. It does not take Angeline and Colin to hatch a plan that would solve both of their problems in the form of a marriage of convenience of sorts. One that would allow her to repair her tarnished reputation and him to keep his property.
The growth between Angeline and Colin is incredible as the pair soon find there is more to their relationship then a simple childhood rivalry. As a pair they work tirelessly to restore his childhood home and their hearts. It was almost sweet harmony as the pair stumbled their way into each other’s arms and into love.
What a Reckless Rogue Needs is simply a delight. It is filled with fantastic storytelling and wonderful secondary characters. It brings out the bittersweet emotions of loss and the glorious moments of falling in love. It is the second book in the series and I would strongly advise readers to start with What a Wicked Earl Wants first as the books do play on each other. However it can be read as a standalone. I for one cannot wait to see what happens to Harry in book three.

Colin Brockhurst, has lived a life of pleasure and enjoying life as he can. When his father gives him a ultimatum either marry or he will sell the property that belongs to him, property where his mother is buried. Colin will do anything to get a hold of that precious property. His beloved mother died during childbirth of his fathers second child. His father then remarried, and circumstances between them have been strained, although he is quite fond of his twin step sisters. There is one woman he would marry, a woman who he will have to prove himself to. Angeline is a spinster, but has been waiting for true love and won't settle for anything less. Angeline's reputation is ruined in the eyes of society, after her ex fiancee told vicious lies about her. Angeline is desperate to fix things even though it wasn't her fault. Her younger sister is about to have her debut, her father who was her closest ally, now hides himself away from her, and a man she once loved rejected her. That same man, Colin, and herself come to a agreement to restore his parents old home, that is in sore need of repair. As they start to work together, a chemistry builds between them, and they both discover a way to get what they both want....Marriage. But will marrying each other be enough or is love waiting right around the corner.

What A Reckless Rogue Needs is the second installment. After reading the first book in the series I was very excited to read Colin and Angeline's story. I recently discovered this author, and it was her covers of these two books that drew me to her. I was so excited that I was able to receive a ARC of this title. In fact I came close to jumping up and down....and who wouldn't be especially after discovering the joy of these charming storyteller that pulls you in magically into her love stories. And What A Reckless Rogue Needs is no different.

The story begins with Colin rushing home trying to convince his father to not sell the property that belongs to him. I instantly became charmed with Colin, very tenacious and a fighter. I loved seeing his vulnerability of his deceased mother, it was quite sweet at times. I really enjoyed how he would do anything to have a reminder of her. Now comes Angeline, where my heart just went out to her. We see a sweet woman who only wants what her parents have and what Colin's parents have. We see how she starts to fall for Colin, But from her past experience, she wonders if her love alone will be enough for the both of them. Colin and Angeline's story is all about trust and the true power of love, and it is worth the fight.

A Beautifully written romance with endearing elements, an engaging plot, characters to melt your heart, and a love story to bring a tear to your eye while bringing a smile to your face. PURE SENSUALITY!!

Colin Brockhurst, Earl of Ravenshire, is over 30 and his dad is sick of his shit. He wants his son to grow up and settle down. No more gaming, women, or partying. So he hits his son right where he knows it’ll hurt – he’s selling the family estate where Colin’s mother is buried. Well, that lights a fire under his ass and he does everything he can to keep that from happening, including trying to negotiate with his unreasonable pops. Get married? Heaven forbid! But there is no way he wants to lose Sommerall, so he scrambles for a plan. A plan that keeps evolving once Lady Angeline Brenham, longtime family friend and sort of nemesis, enters the arena. She agrees to help Colin with his plan, but neither of them expects the end results.

A bit different than your usual historical romance, this delightful read will have you sighing and grinning as well as wanting to shake these two main characters. Man. Talk about stubborn blindness. But it all works. Both characters grow and evolve throughout the book and secondary characters are more than mere props. If you like historical romances with some humor and heat then don’t pass this one up.

Romance at it's best! Two lost souls discover that together they can soar. In Vicky Dreiling continues her Sinful Scoundrels Stories in What A Reckless Rogue Needs and gives us an emotional treat.

Lady Angeline Brenham was secure in her life, a Duke's daughter with all the protection that implied. Flirting her way through life, until one day waking up and realizing she was close to 30 and her dreams of a husband and family were fast fading away. When she accepting a marriage proposal from one of the ton's worst rakes, she is appalled to learn she has been taken in. Jilting him she flees to France to avoid the scandal.. Only that didn't work now she has returned and finally accepted that she isn't going to get that fairytale existence. Even her father's title can't save that for her.

Colin Brockhurst, Earl of Ravenshire is a happy bachelor. Sure he will marry someday but that day isn't today. That is until he receives a letter from his father saying that the home where is mother is buried is going to be sold. Colin is infuriated and more than a little afraid. Can he manage to convince his father not to sell? What will it take? When he discovers that the price is marriage and in six short weeks, Colin almost gives up hope. But Lady Angeline agrees to help him and together they come up with a plan of sort. Maybe they can help each other.. take a few weeks of a "secret" engagement and see what happens.

While on one hand these two can talk about everything, Angeline shares her full story with Colin and Colin tells the story of his childhood and why he so desperately wants this land. They still manage to avoid talking about some of the truly important things. Of course both of them have cause to be wary of love. Especially Angeline who is afraid of repeating her mistake, she has already given a rogue a chance and that lead to betrayal unimaginable.

The amazing thing about this story is that both Colin and Angeline rise above their individual needs and are willing to make a huge sacrifice in order to see the other happy. And it's a beautiful thing.

This was not a fun, light bouncing story.. this story made me tear up on a regular basis. Colin and Angeline belong together, all they have ever needed was a chance to realize it.

While this book definitely had family members behind the scene ready to manipulate if needed. They were written to be likable and interesting. We can understand just why such methods were taken, even if they seemed a bit harsh and irksome. No promises were made then changed, just a strict line in the sand. Get Married or loose the land you desire.

In a way both Colin and Angeline had some growing up to do... and they did it beautifully.

Wonderful story

MY THOUGHTS

ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT

Colin has misspent his youth on drink and wicked women and now must pay the price when his family home is being sold out from under him. He always assumed he would inherit the property where his mother is buried but his father believes that he is not serious about settling down. When Colin makes every excuse not to find a wife, his father gives him a deadline to find a wife or the property will be sold within six weeks. His father has since remarried and now the father of twin girls, Bianca and Bernadette, and with his stepmother, Margaret, live on the neighboring estate.

Angeline has known Colin since childhood and had been at odds with him ever since. Now that she has broken off her engagement to a scoundrel, she is shunned and now looking at life as a spinster. Her real sorrow at the whole mess means that her little sister, Penny, won't have a proper debut, even though her father is an earl. At a house party, Colin and Angeline are thrown together and decide to make the best of a bad situation. She decides to help Colin take inventory of the house and with her skill and eye for design, the two actually talk instead of bait each other.

Both are in need of marriage, Colin to inherit and Angeline to repair her reputation, but Angeline will not marry just anyone. She wants to have love and even though she realizes that it may not be there at first, she decides to work for it. Colin doesn't even realize how much he adores Angeline until it is almost too late. SIGH! They develop a connection that seems natural and full of chemistry. This was a fast read for me and I didn't want to put it down. It had a lot of humor, a bit of drama and that HEA that I crave. Of course, a dog mixed in the plot with a little pug named Hercules. Again, Dreiling has outdone herself creating likable characters with a plot that makes reading a pleasure.

More, please. I really want to read about the twins but I know the next one will be Colin's friend, Harry in WHAT A DEVILISH DUKE DESIRES. And, yes, I read every word in that excerpt since I didn't want the story to end.

REVIEW:
What does love got to do with it?
Well if you are Colin’s father you think it has everything to do with everything. But two can play at that game. Colin will do anything to keep his father from selling the piece of land where his mother is buried. But in order to do that he needs to prove to his father that he is serious. Only problem Colin’s father has told him that he can only inherited the property if he can find a bride. Problem is, Colin doesn’t want to marry. Well at least not yet.

Angelina is still trying to recover from her broken engagement. While she may have not done anything wrong no one know that. They only know the lies that have been spun by a very evil person. But in order to regain her place in the world would she marry for convenience?

What a Reckless Rogue Needs is book two in Vicky’s The Sinful Scoundrels series. In What a Reckless Rogue Needs we get a closer look into what makes Colin tick. I have enjoyed all the snippets we have got of Colin in the past. There is much more to Colin than meets the eye. I loved Angelina. She is feisty, sweet and willing to do just about anything for her family. These two were great to read.

If you enjoyed book 1 you will really like book 2. If you are a fan of historical I think you will enjoy What a Reckless Rogue Needs. While I think that you should read the series in order it is not necessary. This story easily stand alone.

Lady Angeline Brenham is recovering from the scandal of a broken engagement to a roué at the ripe age of 30 and being a societal pariah, wants to avoid the indignity of being trotted out in the new season. Unfortunately, Colin Brockhurst, Earl of Ravenshire made a grave error for Angeline's debut when he reserved the first dance, arrived drunk and too late for it. They've been frenemies every since.

Colin's hung over when he receives a summons to his father's side to discuss the sale of the ancestral home where his mother is buried. Colin doesn't want to sell and is prepared for his father's objections. Colin presents his case and his father flatly refuses. The father counter-offers the property if Colin gives up his rakehell ways and make a respectable marriage. Colin can't think of a worse fate.

As the women of both families think to determine a bride for Colin, Angeline's former fiancé triumphantly returns to the area as a neighbor. Meanwhile Angeline and Colin renew their childhood friendship. This is the type of read where the ending is telegraphed as soon as both leads are introduced and it's all about the enjoyable journey.

This is the second story of The Sinful Scoundrels series by Vicky Dreiling and is a continuation of the great writing style of Vicky Dreiling. This is the story of Colin Brockhurst and Lady Angeline Brenham. Colin is given an ultimatum by his father, either marry or he will sell the home that was supposed to be Colin's. Angeline is recovering from a ruined reputation after she jilts her cheating fiancé. Colin and Angeline have known each other since childhood and decide to marry to help each other solve their problems. What they don't count on is that the time spent together is leading to a true love. A wonderful story.

OMG!!!

I have a perfectly good reason to dnf-ed this particular book... I was first interested in this book after reading an excerpt at the end of book one... it was a good one of two people promised at birth to each other, but they fight... good ... right?

but what I get from this book is totally different. no proper chemistry and not to mention a whole different premise... I just couldn't agree with it. I also had continuity issues... I just couldn't reconcile that the characters I'm reading were the same ones from the series... I went back like three times to check if I was reading a different book.

I just want to know ... why change the whole story when it was good... and particularly when a good base was already there in the previous book... what a waste :(

May be... May be ... I might have liked this one as a stand alone... but expecting one story and getting a whole different one is ... I don't even have the words.

I enjoyed this historical romance. I received it for free and I voluntarily chose to review this book. I've given it a 4.5* rating. There is just a little too much sexual content and is not for the under 18 readers. This is one that pulled you into the family drama along with family friends. Welcome to the annual house party that lasts for weeks. Lots going on with sisters in both families, one unruly pug puppy and lots of rain. There is humor and rage to keep everything stirred up.

Well this was disappointing. For one thing, the back cover synopsis doesn't fully match the story. I could find no evidence of the supposed back-story that the heroine broke the hero's heart. Instead, they grew up as neighbors and never looked at each other that way before.

I think I might have enjoyed the story more as a novella. This was too repetitive for my taste.

Why do I love sassy men who are so scared of love? Because out of all the heroes of historical romances, the Collins are my favorite. Especially when the fall in love with women who are very intelligent, and they just sit there like “go get ‘em, love!”

What a Reckless Rogue Needs was one of those books that just made me smile. I loved it. Everything about Angeline and Colin just tugged at my heart as these two life long adversaries find themselves--and their futures--at the mercy of others and are tempted to rely on someone they'd never thought a friend.

Alright so the quick of it is that both Angeline and Colin are in a pickle. Her reputation has been ruined by a horrid man and at her age--31--she's resigned herself to being a spinster and leaving society to spare her family more grief. And Colin's reputation as a rake has his father has laying down the law. If he wants to keep his childhood home..he must settle down and marry. Soon! So life is...in a bit of a muck as the two come together during a family house party and end up working on a project together and finding they may very well be the answer to each others problems.

I really liked Angeline and Colin. They've both been dealt a fairly undesirable hand and been judged by others in the worst ways. But the two had a similar strength about them. While they had insecurities and doubts now and again one thing about them was that neither just took it lying down but fought back and made their own decisions on things. They weren't flighty children but solid adults and tended to act that way even if they waffled now and again on some things. They were just likable people and nice to be around whether they were lending each other a shoulder, things were heating up or they were verbally sparring with each other.
"I have a confession to make," he said.

Now she couldn't breathe, because he was too close and the scent of him swirled all around her.

"I find you charming today."

She too a step back and lifted her chin. "It will wear off quickly."

They played nicely off each other as well. I loved that they'd known each other for longer than they could remember and haven't really rubbed well in the past. The fire and sass between them because of it was a treat. So was watching their relationship change as they worked together and really got to know each other for the first time. They're far from perfect and blub up with each other more than once but they're also the type that as soon as they realize they were wrong...they admit it and make amends which was a nice change of pace in my opinion. It was really kinda sweet watching them slowly and without even realizing it become friends and begin to rely on each other to share their burdens. And to realize that while a marriage of convenience would easily solve both their problems they wanted more than that for themselves and each other.

All in all, even with a bit of repetition now and again in the storyline I really enjoyed What a Reckless Rogue Needs. Dreiling just has a way of making me smile and had me falling in love with her characters before I even realized. My heart broke for them as they dealt with the past and rejoiced with them as well when they started to heal and found something they truly needed in life...each other. Heartwarming, witty and utterly endearing it's one historical fans will love.

The story in a nutshell:

Colin Brockhurst, the Earl of Havenshire, is given the ultimatum by his father. He has to get married or lose one of his ancestral homes, the property where his mother was buried. Now he finds himself with no other choice but to agree with his father’s wishes. The problem is that he has no desire to get married any time soon. When an extended stay at his father’s house brings him closer to Lady Angeline Brenham, who’s a long time family friend, he may have found the alternative answer to his dilemma. On the other hand, Lady Angeline may have known Colin many years ago but now there are no more than strangers. But a project where the two agreed to work together allows her to get to know him better and she might decide that he can be her alternative answer to her dilemma as well.

What worked for me?

I really love slow burn romances and I’m happy that this is one of those books. It didn’t really work for the book that the book summary mentions the proposition between the main characters because it doesn’t happen until somewhere around the middle of the story. I thought it was an initial set-up and I was waiting for it to happen in the beginning. I guess, it was a little discomforting that I wasn’t able to focus much on other details while I was waiting for that shoe to fall.

Having said that, I still really liked Colin and Angie. I completely understand that Colin wanted to keep the property where his mother was buried from being sold in exchange for his getting married. I also understand the motivation behind his father’s finally giving him the ultimatum.

Angie, on the other hand, I also feel for her. After what she’s been through in the past, it is to be admired how she’s still able to carry herself with dignity. Of course, the potential for ruin is still in the horizon but she is not one to give up on life or the future. When she assists Colin on assessing the ancestral home, I was glad that not only is she able to exercise and make use of her talent for interior design and organization, she is also able to get to know Colin better.

What did not work for me?

The romance was perfectly believable. There were just times that I would have wanted more. We do get to see them interact with each other, get to know each other’s true feelings and all that. But at times, I felt like there was something missing.

There were some interesting characters in this book and while their interactions with the main characters served their purpose of pushing forward the plot development, I would have appreciated it more if the relationships that they obviously have, like family relationships, were explored a little better. There was a certain kind of depth of feelings that wasn’t really hit by the author.

My over-all take on it?

This was still a historical romance worth reading. This is my first read of Vicky Dreiling but it won’t definitely be my last. She has the talent of giving the readers interesting characters who you want to get to know better.

I finally finished What a Reckless Rogue Needs by Vicky Dreiling. I can't say that I'm surprise that I enjoyed the book, because Vicky is one of my favorite authors. I love her writing, because you will find fun in a book. You will always find humor and sentimental moments. They are great for that "I don't know what to read" books.

What a Reckless Rogue Needs is the second book in the The Sinful Scoundrels series. If you have been following the series, you would remember first meeting Colin Brockhurst back in A Season for Sin. Honestly, I never really saw Colin or Harry as rakes, rogues, or whatever you want to call them. Truth be told, I kind of thought of them as dorks. I guess falling into river doesn't really make you rake material in my book. Anyway, I have change my opinion a little; he might be a rake. Slightly.

Anyway, his father is tired of his tired of his wild ways of living and has decided to take matters into his own hands. How you may ask? His father has decided to sell, a cherished family home. What!? I know the nerve of him. Of course, Colin isn't going to let his father sell the only he has left that ties him to his mother. So, Colin sets out to convince his father that he's willing to take control of the property. However, the only way Colin's father is convince is for Colin to hang his up the rakish lifestyle and marry. Sheesh, that's a might high price to pay.

Now Lady Angeline Brenham has been a friend of the family and she's practically given up hope on finding true love. Let's not split hairs, she's on the shelf and still recovering from a horrendous scandal. However, she would give anything to be at her sister's coming out the up and coming season, but she doesn't see how. However, Colin offers her a chance to be there. Could she sacrifice her morals to be someone like Colin? Will he give up his rakish-lifestyle to save a family home? Can a marriage of convenience work Colin and Angeline?

LOVED What a Reckless Rogue Needs! I was entertained from beginning to end. I was little leery about Colin's father. I just couldn't believe his father would be so callous to Colin's feelings about his childhood home. Granted Colin didn't show much interested until he felt like he was about to lose his home. However, I should know better that Vicky wouldn't have made his father out to be a bad guy, but I did wonder. I love how Colin started to develop a conscience when he was around Angeline. I mean he could have been a cad, because he wanted to secure his childhood home. Yet, he saw something more in Angeline. I appreciate how Angeline was willing to sacrifice herself for her family, but decided what was best for herself. Yes, loved What a Reckless Rogue Needs, because it was light fun with some moments that squeeze out a tear or two.
