This is Book Two in the completed Post Apocalyptic Series.
The Rage Wars are over. Society has fallen. Untold millions are dead.
The survivors are faced with a horrible, chaotic future.
An old prison in Montana serves as refuge to a small group of survivors. What will they do with the prisoners who are consuming their resources?
A wealthy enclave surrounded by towering cliffs on three sides becomes New City. How will they deal with others who approach, asking for sanctuary?
A young pilot waits to deliver a client to a well-stocked survivalist cabin in the wilds of Alaska. In this new world, does this island of safety belong to him?
A growing band of mercenaries chew through towns like locusts. Where will they turn when they run out of small towns?
People are at risk everywhere except in the domed city of Altor, where life is safe and good. There is plenty of food, fresh water, and crime is essentially unheard of.
But there is a threat to even that oasis of safety. A threat that will come from within the dome.
"All Fall Down" is the second book in The Chronicles of Altor. It is available in audio from Podium Publishing.
Once again I find that it's time to review another Shawn Inmon book. I find that I am almost out of words to express just how much I enjoy each and every one of them. I am a senior, a Christian, and I have a particular style of writing I am drawn to. Number one I do not like use of cuss words in the content of what I am reading, they give no bearing to the story other than the writer can't come up with useful dialogue to engage the reader. Number two I do not want to read sexual content in the books I read, we all know that happens, but I do not wish to read about it. Mr. Inmon's books are just wonderfully written, with engaging characters, plenty of action, and content to allow you to become part of the fabric of each novel. I find myself wanting to know more about a character, cheering him or her on to achieve their goals, and of course, wanting the book to never end. Well once again Mr. Inmon has created a new environment that immediately gets the reader involved with multiple characters and engages them inside a new fantasy world he has created...........Altor! This one was absolutely un-put-downable! Now we do the hurry up and wait until December for #3. HURRY UP~! I try to make myself savor each book, but it's useless, I just keep reading.
2nd book in 3 book series. The world’s population refuses to take it anymore. Low wages, Corporations high profits, inflation out of control, community agitators. Ego driven billionaires orchestrate the Rage Wars which causes the downfall of civilization. Except…one introverted computer-code genius unknowingly to the world, develops with his best friend, a program that can predict what will happen in the future. The program known as Janus gives this billionaire coder a heads up in time for him to build a domed city in the desert in hopes of populating it with good, talented and industrious people from all walks of life. But Janus seems to have evolved. Wandering gangs with nefarious ideas are moving closer to poke the city. Pockets of good people across the states have their stories told too. By the end of this book you are starting to see that some of these outside-of-the-dome pockets will be needed to protect and return civilization back to the one you and I know. But will that really be what the future needs?
Very strong. All Fall Down is not a complete continuation of The Precipice. We kept the focus on some of the same crew of characters, some were downgraded to recurring status for this outing, and new characters had a chance to shine. What I appreciate about Shawn’s pacing here is you’ll spend two chapters, perhaps three in one location and will shift to another. There were red herrings (which lake did you think we were traveling to?) and plots clearly visible in plain sight.
Janus is something everyone can see coming, but I think that’s more of a statement for humanity as much as anything else.
Eagerly waiting for Book 3. I’m a Patreon subscriber but will probably wait until I can read it in one sitting.
I started book 2 earlier today as soon as I found it on KUL. And just finished it a few minutes ago so I've been reading all day, almost9 hours. I want to start the 3rd and final book but it's after 11pm and my eyes are tired. I'm going to tune out but book 3 will open my day tomorrow. I can't wait to find out how this series finishes up but I know any author who keeps me this engaged and enthusiastic has some definite surprises and more thrills to come. This is one of Shawn In mom's best yet. Bring it!
The second installment of the series "All Fall Down" was just as good as the first one. What's good about the story is that within it, as with "The Precipice", there are many different stories within its walls, i.e. New City, the old Montana prison, Altor, and Dust City to name but a few. It's obvious that Shawn has put a heck of a lot of work into this series but it also looks like we might be waiting a few more months for book number three. Anyway, as the saying goes, everything come to he who waits.
This amazing story continues, with the various settlements having to defend themselves from outside incursion and Altor growing beyond its creator. I am thoroughly involved in the characters and their challenges. I have to read the third book, but I think there may be more books coming, as I don’t see it all being wrapped up so soon. Janus has become a force on its own.
Whew, tough read and very sure I’d want to live in such well thought out end times. Zombies would be preferred, so some could survive with a world and life. As grim as the story is, the truth of where we are now is what is scary, especially when what was described has happened and the world is going nuts. I’d recommend this to like minded, faster reader types more than to the casual read a book a year types.
It’s scary how accurate I feel this could be. The characters and situations, outside of Altor and Janus, feel so realistic. The decisions people face and actions they are forced into are not a stretch at all from the life we live today. Extremely compelling read, it’s going to be very hard to wait for the next book.
As a long time fan of PA fiction I’ve really enjoyed the uniqueness of this series. The characters are well developed, you love or hate them depending on who you’re rooting for. The different locations and situations they face are fascinating. I can’t wait for the third installment in the series!
Good job exceeding a high bar of expectations Mr Inmon! I came into this looking forward to seeing what happened to characters from book one. The breadth of new characters and their story arcs made this instalment so much more interesting though. Can’t wait for book three :)
Shawn takes you completely into the world of the near future with trends that are happening NOW. Altor is very possible and weaving AI into the mix gives authenticity that puts you directly into the story! I’m eagerly awaiting the next book in the Altor saga!!
Love this new series! It's neat how you have survival like the past and the most futuristic computing of the future at the same time. Wish all the book were out so I could binge, as it's always hard to wait!
My limited vocabulary is running out of superlatives for Shawn Inmon. He is just a terrific story teller. I can't wait for the next installment of which ever series he decides to continue next.
This is a wonderful series that will keep you wanting more. The author has promised one more book in the series. I’m hoping for several more!! Keeping my fingers crossed.
I highly recommend all of Shawn Inmon’s work. His books flow easily and you get absorbed into the worlds he creates. Looking forward to all future books to come. Thanks Shawn!!
This turns into a frightening story of AI getting stronger and stronger and eventual realizing how small and vulnerable humans are. I look forward to the next book.
I worry about trilogies where the first is a barnstormer, the second is okay, whilst the third is disappointing. No such problems with Shawn Inmon. Books one and two are both storming the proverbial barn and I cannot wait for the final book. Great writer who knows how to tell a tale.
The Author has created a fascinating world in this Post-Apocalypse series which is far from the usual scenario. Each instalment builds on the last and draws you further in. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book in the series now.
The story was excellent and picked up from the previous book. The story reads like a soap opera with multiple stories happening at once. Great action scenes and plenty of twists.
There is plenty of action but with a very strong story, The characters really come to life and no do.ubt I'm very curious to see how these courageous people continue to survive.
