Hebrew Creation Story and the Fall
This readings were quit engaging as I have read it many times in my life. By reading them in this format of how they make we feel. At this stage in my life I question more than I did as a young person searching for answers and direction for my life. I never noticed in Genesis 2:11-14 that the river that God established for Eden became four heads what is the meaning of that and why? And his command of man to eat of every tree of the garden seems a bit strong. Why the command? I like the idea of the voice of God walking. Can you imagine how scary that would be? Not see anybody and know there was only the two of you on earth. I question in Genesis 1:26 where God says, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Who is us? Maybe the angels because no one else was there. Good read. (166)

Boice was the model of scholarly pastor -- BA Harvard; MDiv. Princeton Seminary; PhD Basel Switzerland. He spent his entire ministry at one church (30 years at 10th Presbyterian), in the city he loved and grew it to thousands.

I have used his commentaries now in Ephesians, Acts, Genesis, and John, and in my opinion his NT work tends to be less moralistic and more Christ-Centered than his OT work.

Nevertheless, his exegesis is always thorough, readable, theologically solid. And the hardcover edition by Baker is packaged nicely. This set is definitely worth having, but you will want to supplement it with something like Allen Ross (more technical), Iain Duguid (more focused on covenant theology), and Waltke (more theologically rich).

Commentary on the first book of the Bible. A little hard to get into at first, it took several chapters to cover the first few verses of Chapter 1 and the creation. After getting past all of the theories on creation, it was a great source of information and insight.

Quite well done, very objective and thorough. Boice is fundamentally compromised with the scientific world, but it is outweighed by the level of study that he put into the series.
