Do you want to breastfeed your baby, but don't think you can because you have to go back to work? Are you concerned about the challenges of combining breastfeeding and a fulltime job? Working without Weaning describes in detail how you can work and still breastfeed your baby, with stories and advice from mothers who have been in your shoes. Working without Weaning gives you step by step guidance to help you work and continue to breastfeed, including how to talk to your boss about breastfeeding in a language they'll understand, figuring out the time and place to pump during the day, maintaining your milk supply when you are pumping, choosing the best pump for your needs, storing and feeding breastmilk from a bottle, getting enough rest when you have to work all day and baby all night, keeping balance in your life, supplementing without weaning, and most importantly, preserving your breastfeeding relationship with your baby when you are together.
This book allowed me to continue nursing until my son was seventeen months. Very encouraging and provides you with all the information you need to go back to work and pump. Highly recommend to new moms!
I read this in the week before my daughter was born and it was exactly what I needed to calm me down as I prepared to breastfeed. The basics of breastfeeding are there, tons of advice on how to deal with doctors and nurses who are bent on getting formula down your baby's throat (which we did end up running into at the hospital), and most importantly all the facts and tips on how to successfully continue breastfeeding upon returning to work. I was happy to know everything I'd need to prepare for my return to work before my daughter was born so I wasn't scrambling a week before to pull myself together. This gives explanations of how pumps work, opinions on which are the best on the market, a breakdown of supplies you'll need beyond a breast pump, charts with how long milk will last, how to deal with bosses and coworkers in relation to pumping...everything! And all with a lovely feminist bias, too.
(Non-Fiction Breastfeeding) This book was exactly what I needed to help me prepare for going back to work after my maternity leave ends. It also offers great advice and timelines for preparing for the return to work. I loved it and I am grateful that it exists for the breastfeeding-working mothers out there like me.
I read this book before I went back to work and it was very helpful. It had lots of breastfeeding tips regardless of whether you are working outside of the home or not. Some of her ideas really aren't that practicle but overall I found it had great advice.
