One woman's search for God's guidance in the midst of challenges. The author, an avid gardener and lover of the outdoors, heard God's voice through the pages of Scripture but also sensed it through evidence of God's work in creation. Waiting for Morning celebrates the wonderful and mysterious actions of God in the natural world and in the lives of his people.
My good friend Cindy Crosby wrote this memoir which chronicles, among other things, depression, and places the stories within nature motifs. It's a Christian perspective, but not a preachy book. One of my favorite chapters uses a prairie burning as a metaphor for cleansing the bad parts of our life. I was truly moved by this book.
I first read this book in 2001 and used it as a basis for a retreat. I picked it up again in 2014, and have led a 6 week study. It speaks to depression, despair, restoration, sanctuary, and forgiveness. A lovely book in the style of Annie Dillard.
