Second Chance

Rate this book
At just twelve years old, Tallie McNeil was abandoned by her mother in the midst of the biggest scandal ever to rock the town of Burton. Tired of being harassed by the same kids who used to be her playmates, she faded into the background of Burton. Ten years later, she still lives in town and even works in the local bar owned by her dad. But she’s still just as invisible as she was in high school.Nothing is working out the way Rob Clairon planned. Jobless, alone, and playing nurse to his dying father, Rob is not pleased to be back in Burton. Despite the depressing state of his life, he finds himself drawn to Tallie, the girl he thought he knew a long time ago. What he needs right now is to start over.Sometimes life gives you a second chance to do what you should have done the first time. Tallie and Rob just might get that second chance, as long as life doesn’t get in their way.

2.5 - good story, but the writing made it easy to put it down and walk away from it. I only finished it bc it was right there every time I turned my kindle back on.

You hear authors talking about reading their stuff aloud - I think this person should have tried that. The dialogue doesn't sound natural and the paragraph flows often feel telly.

BUT, like I said - good premise. I hope this author gets better - I'd checkout something by her again.

The best thing about this book are the characters. They were very real and consistent. My only complaint was that it was too short. I would like to have spent more time with them.

Great book

This author is a great storyteller. The books are long but she develops her characters well and the story flows. She is one of those authors that you do not hesitate to buy a book from.

Another easy-reading good tale by Virginia Jewel. I like a break every now and then from my regular diet of murder 'n' mayhem and this was ideal. It tells of Tallie, a girl working in her dad's bar in a small town and Robbie, a guy returning to town after a failed marriage and to take care of his dying father.
Pretty obvious they'll get together but it still holds your interest as you wonder when and how it's going to happen !!
A perfect book to take on holiday for the beach for sure but still enjoyed in the pouring rain stuck indoors !!

Another fantastic book by Virgina Jewel! I fell in love with the characters and felt part of their life.

Friendship, relationships & love all told with a voice that feels like you're watching it unfold on your own doorstep not on the pages of a book!

Once again, the romance unfolds without the need for 'adult' content which is like a breath of fresh air!

Thank you Virginnia for another magical romantic story!

Virginia Jewel.. You never disappoint. This story was wonderful. Loved the relationship between Rob and Tallie. I found Tallie very relatable. The bullying she was forced to deal with as a child is something I can relate to. I enjoyed that sometimes everyone can see what you can't see in front of your face. Thank you for writing such a sweet story.
