BULLIES, FATPHOBIA, MEAN GIRLS AND MEAN MOTHER

I’ve tried not to be too hard with my rating but honestly the mistakes throughout this book are plentiful. The mother who bullies her one and only child because of her weight reminds me so much of my own mother that I might’ve cried a few times. Fatphobia is so ingrained in our society it really hurts. Apollo is emotionally constipated, maybe from his mother’s death or his absentee father but he runs away from any emotion until Everay. He makes some very stupid mistakes but finally matures thru the relationship and love with Everay.
To the author…please if you are going to write a book about American football get your terms right! Second, I live in New Mexico and some of the things you wrote are just not realistic. Don’t give up writing but it might have been better to just base your books in what you know. It’s obvious that you are not from here from your terminology.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This is the first book I have read by this author and found myself reading it within a days time. I felt invested in the characters from the first chapter and enjoyed the evolution of the main characters relationship. I did feel that it was a little rushed at the end - but overall I loved the couple and that the FMC was plus-size and was proud who she was. I am looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
