You may not recognize the name Anne Taintor, but it's more than likely have seen her work - on greeting cards, refrigerator magnets, or even that magical thing called the internet. Taking images from mid-century advertisements, and sticking on funny captions, Taintor has made a name for herself (and more than a few bucks) marketing her unique blend of nostalgia and humor.

It was alright. I got this one because thrift books had it listed as a comedy and I guess I didn't read the description as closely as I thought I did. I was expecting humor, not art. And truthfully, it's not great art. Just old pictures (like from adverts and such) with a single sentence of text over each. And it's not really that funny. Just meh.

It's fun, it's fluffy, some of it was clever, but it's a touch repetetive. There was no real bangers in here for me, I would have liked two or three pages that I just wanted to rip out and put on my fridge. I think it's a matter of temprament, a lot of the tone here is just not my speed. The art is pretty incredible though.

I've read this book twice now, and it is new every time I read it. I love Tainer's books! They are funny in a sarcastic way: they are what you really are thinking, even though you'd never say that to the person it was meant for. Here's a sample: " what am I making for supper? why sweetie, I'm making whatever the hell I want served with a side of eat it or starve".

I absolutely loved this book! The pictures were so beautiful!! The one liners that went along with the pictures were definitely humorous! My boss had given this book to me to look over on some down time. She said it really helps her to get through the day when things are tensed. So glad that I got a chance to read it. Definitely a constant page turner of laughs!
