About the author

Robert Jackson was born in 1941 in the North Yorkshire village of Melsonby. A former pilot and navigation instructor, his active involvement with aviation lasted many years. Following his retirement from the RAFVR in 1977 as a squadron leader, he became a full-time aviation writer and aerospace correspondent and lectured extensively on strategic issues. He speaks five languages, including Russian, and has written more than forty nonfiction works on military affairs. He is also the author of the popular Yeoman and SAS fiction series.

Exciting story

This book kept me wrapped up throughout the complete story. Author did an excellent job of keeping what was going to happen next throughout the story. Enjoyed this one and will be getting more of his exciting books. Must read!

- Again this book was OK. The characters are interesting, but the action scenes, compared to other action writers, seem understated or dull. I’m dropping the series at this point because I know there there’s better military drama out there. (E.g. William Peter Grasso and others)

another great series from Jackson

Good story about the SAS attack in France occupied territory. Kind of predictable but is a fast read. Can’t miss with Robert Jackson books.

“Attack at Night” eBook was published in 2016 (original paper edition published in 1988) and was written by Robert Jackson (https://www.fantasticfiction.com/j/ro...). Mr. Jackson published over 50 books.

I received a galley of this novel for review through https://www.netgalley.com. I categorize this novel as ‘PG’ because it contains scenes of Violence. The story is set mostly in 1943 occupied France during World War II. The primary character is Captain Callum Douglas of the British SAS.

He and his well trained team are landed in occupied France. Their mission is to meet with the French Resistance and plan an attack on a German air field. They rush to prevent German bombers from attacking a Allied convoy headed for Italy and a second front at Anzio. They must rush their plans when they find that the Germans plan a push to route out the French resistance.

I enjoyed the 5 hours I spent reading this 162 page World War II Thriller. I have read several of Jacksons stories and he could tell a good tale. The story is fast paced and maintains the reader’s interest. While I have no objections to the cover art, I am not sure how it is relevant to the story. It is German, but not a Dornier 217 which was being flown from the base to be attacked. I give this novel a 4 out of 5.

Ok military adventure.

I was really looking forward to this book until I got to the bit about the plane getting stuck in the mud in France and realised the author had got lazy and copied this, almost word for word, from an earlier book he wrote.
