What Happened in Vegas

Rate this book
It happened in Vegas...

A sizzling encounter that turned into a scorching biweekly affair. How he’d ended up in bed with a woman like Robin was still a mystery to Paul. One minute they were riding the same elevator and the next he was riding her, the attraction so fierce and immediate he couldn’t remember how they reached his room or even shed their clothes. But when Robin suggested they take their relationship to the next level, Paul panicked, prompting her to walk out on him with her head held high and his heart in her hands. Four months later, he’s got her in an elevator again, ready and willing, but with her emotions tucked safely away. He’s got one shot to prove that what happened in Vegas can happen anywhere in the world, for the rest of their lives. (4,500 words - not including the additional short story, "Salacious Robinson" - 800 words)

First story was a little crude for my tastes.
Second one- I hate cougars with a passion. It was only 3-4 page but I wanted to slam her head on the rock when I read she was friends with his mother and sat with his girlfriend while watching his match! Ughh.. yuck!!!

P.s I adore books with older heroines and younger heroes without taking advantage of said younger heroes. I haven’t yet forgotten the character from Linda Kage’s ‘Price of a kiss’ even though I read that years ago. And as a result I now stay away from her books despite raving reviews.

What happened in Vegas is a short quick read.
Nothing much, no character building so I don't feel for the characters
Anyways we know SD excels in writing hot sex and could have written a better story if it's a full length novel.

As for the even shorter story of Salacious Robinson, sorry no will do. I am absolutely against cheating.

I would love to read What Happened in Vegas as an entire novel. I wanted to know more about Paul's son and first marriage. I was also curious about Robin's story. The 2nd story - I hope it was just a dream for one or both characters!

This little story is just what I was looking for—sweet, fun, and sexy as hell!

I think it's important to adjust your expectations depending on what you are reading, so picking up this ten or fifteen page book, all I was really looking for was a light read, and because it's Sylvia Day—hot sex! I certainly got it! Robin and Paul were absolutely scorching together!

Any character development took place before the story even began; this focused on the two main characters finding their way back together.

If you want a quick, steamy read, give this a shot. Just...not in public! ;)

3.5 stars, but I’ll let it fly with 4. Most of the story had my attention. It’s about romantic sex in a fancy hotel between a man who’s head over heels in love with his woman, and a happily ever after.

My review contains spoilers and they're mostly my thoughts as I went with the book...

Soooo, hmmmm... This is a 5 page quickie. I needed one to further my GR challenge. Yah, I know it’s shameful but can’t help it when RL is intruding and I’m lagging behind my goals.

Anyhoooo, nothing much to say about it but only to explain my 3 stars rating:

1) I don’t care for cougar stories/erotica
2) I don’t care for cheating/adultery

But, I already gave into the temptation and it being a quickie I didn’t expect much...

But:
1) The sex was hot and superr dirrrttty (because of the situation... er, behave )
2) Sex was hot and SD standard... Sometimes I hate that I feel no connection between her characters other than hot sex, but even then I find her sex scenes HOT.
3) Sex was hot and I thought it was fair for a free read.

I would rate it a 4 (or more) star definitely if this ‘next door neighbor’ fantasy was played out in a different setting with different characters (not the neighbor’s young son and a married woman old enough to be his mother).

So, balancing all these I rated it 3 stars.

This book was a free read in smashwords but not anymore. Sorry about that. You can also get this short story from the anthology “Got a Minute”.

Now where did I hear the word ‘Mrs. Robinson’? zipzipzip

Disappointment is an understatement, for a book that I finished in 10 minutes, it seems pointless. It was vague, obviously rushed, and I'm surprised the publishers actually were ok with this as a release. You don't get to connect or know the characters because it's so fast paced. Sylvia was one of my top writers, I feel now the releases are lacking in something, it's almost as if she's using the popularity and fan base from crossfire novels to release other books, which aren't up,to scratch, only this is a downfall, because when the writing becomes poor, the fans start to lose interest, and go else where, don't milk it unless it's worth something, your heart should be put in to,it! when a reputation is ruined you never get it back. Really disappointed. Rather than release stuff like this, and doing to many books in one go, focus on one book series at a time, giving a better quality of writing. Sorry.

When I read the title of this short story Simon & Garfunkel came into my mind and I was humming.

...And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Whoa, whoa, whoa
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey...

But that did nothing for my verdict after finishing this short story... I still didn't liked it...

Get your mind out of the gutter, boys and babes. I was referring to a quick read. Ha. HAWR.

P.S. I could have done without the extra story.

Short, sweet and delicious! Really, really naughty!! I read it along with Salacious Robinson/What Happened In Vegas at least 4x a year!
5/4/19: These two novellas are HOT! HOTT! HAWT!

Robin, a successful jewelry designer, and Paul, a brew salesman, meet up in Vegas every weekend for hot, no strings attached sex. A misunderstanding tore them apart 4 months ago but an unexpected tryst in the hotel elevator may just ignite a sizzling reunion.
#2: Mrs. Robinson's next door neighbor, college student, Jason, has been opening up her garage door, along with a few other things, on the regular, and Mrs. Robinson is one satisfied lady!!!
I am embarrassed (not!) to admit how many times I have enjoyed reading these HAWT and delicious
stories! Explains why Sylvia Day is one of my all time favorite writers!

Well that didn't even take an hour to read. But it was hot and intense tho and the little story afterwards was as well.
tho I wished it was longer then it is cuz I enjoyed it. what little I got. Sylvia sure knows how to write intense and erotic romance. she can pack a punch with even very few pages. again wished it was longer but enjoyed what it was. short and to the point.

Ugh! I was left craving more! I bought this on the Fire not knowing it was a short story! Very disappointed! and the Mrs. Robinson story DID NOT help it. Definately needed to elaborate that story more! Juicy sex scenes, but I WANTED MORE!

This is more of a short story than a novella.

I have not read Sylvia Day before so when I saw this on my OverDrive app from my library I decided to give it a try.

Good - and I will look for more

I needed a palate cleanser after reading a couple back to back meh books and thought a lil erotica could be fun. To my disappointment this goes in the bad pile.I rated this novella as a 3 for a few reasons: The stories were very short, I didn't feel connected to the characters, and I'm not a fan of marriage being a bandaid for relationship issues.

I was simply triggered by the first story LOL. The year long, bi-weekly, affair between Paul and Robin was uhhhhhhh too close to home thank you. I would've felt more intrigued by their tryst if the story centered around their first meeting. Their story would actually suit a full length novel that deals with Paul's grief over losing his son, his crumbling marriage, and his conflict about starting a sexual relationship with a woman in Vegas. I know it was a short story but it was very very short and I didn't really bond with the characters to be rooting for their marriage. The sex itself is 1/5 jalapeño emojis, because it was mild, quick, and also very emotional (for a stand-alone novella). Their reunion relies on their shared past and since I have no insight into how their year was (I mean I can project my own version, but not even I want marriage to be the solution), I feel disconnected to their story.

The Mrs. Robinson story is a bit on the nose but was kinda fun if you don't think about any of the real world implications. Also so so short. I was taken aback by their age difference. If this kid is in high school, I'm calling 911. If he's in college, eh fine. But being friends with the mom is suuuuper predatory. If they were just neighbors and formed a relationship in his adulthood, then it's just a friends with benefits and an age gap. I kind of wish they didn't explain the dynamic, so it could just be this isolated afternoon delight, instead of a possible dateline episode.

This is not actually a novel, its 2 short stories and the second one starts at 92% through.
First story has zero character building so you don't give a shit about the people. The sex is somehow simultaneously lackluster, unrealistic, and full of red flags that prove he's not a good person or a good lover.
-The story doesn't start off strong by having the characters engage in sexual activities with minors in an elevator (sex offenders anyone?).
-We also have some infantizing of women's body parts early on with a "baby-soft" vulva. I don't want to think anything related to children while reading a sex scene, thank you.
-The author also drops a bomb in another sex scene about "the death of his son", which, wtf??
-She tries to get some clit action and he is "impatient" so he just goes inside her. Red flag.
-She later says she's done and he says "we'll see about that." Another red flag. The flirty roughness can be good if it's written well but I disliked both of the main characters so he just seemed like an asshole.
-She comes instantly, and I mean instantly (I know this can happen but its so unrealistic for most people that it took me out of how little I was in the story to begin with.)
-The guy has a chained wallet and a barbell tongue piercing, which is not inherently bad... but I wasn't personally vibing

Second story, cheating older neighbor has sex with her neighbor’s son (she’s friends with his mom and even sat next to his girlfriend-so they’re *both* cheating)- definite no from me. Also this second one is so short (introduced at 92% through the book) that it's a wonder it was included at all
