King of Patriam: Outlaws

Rate this book
The combat trials. He's going.
Cassian's only qualm is that he has to do the wrong thing to do the right thing.
The city's fate rests on his shoulders, but that's not what plagues his thoughts and hurries his heart.
She'll never forgive him. He knows it, but he still has hope that he can claim the heart of the woman he left behind.
If he makes it out alive...

He left her.
He thinks he's doing the right thing, but the numbers that Salem has trusted all her life are beginning to lose her faith. She wants him to live, she'll do anything to make sure that he does. But can she ever come to terms with what he did to save the city, what he did to her?
She gets her chance to keep him alive for long enough to figure that out, but what will happen when his safety is no longer in jeopardy? What will happen when it's hers?

Short version
Poor worldbuilding, character development, tension leading up to something important etc
Also the author seemed to constantly switch up abt if the romance was a subplot or if the rest of the story was a subplot. One second theres war and the next second theyre having sex.
Also I wish that wed seen more Cassian as King of Patriam.

Long version
My main problems with this series are the world building and descriptions, character development, the lack of build up leading up to important moments and the way the relationships were evolving.
Let me start off by saying that I really enjoyed the whole concept of The Dome. That however does not change the fact that Terra is very confusing. There's close to none insight about the beginnings of The Dome and the creation of the sectors. It felt like the author explained them very briefly, just so that we could get the gist of it, to never return to it again.

Jesus the descriptions. The same problem as with the origins of The Dome. Am I the only one that still doesnt really know what Salem looks like? I mean, I know her hair is short and dark, and I think her eyes are hazel? But she's never described in depth, it's just her some of her features that are shortly mentioned a bunch of times. I feel like the same goes for Deianira, Cade, Lia, Devin, Emori and all the others (except for Cassian). But honestly it might just be that connecting with characters and a story written in third person is pretty difficult for me.

Character development. I quite liked Cade in the first book, but after that he just got kind of weird. Deianira too, I just had the impression that they were constantly angry at something or that that was the only side of them we saw in the second and third book.
But Salem, at first she was this fierce, cold soldier. Then she fell in love, out of nowhere imo, and she just completely changed. Once again I got the feeling that it wasn't really a fluid change but an abrupt one. AND THEN she got kidnapped, rescued and her behavior was completely unrecognisable. Where did the most lethal in the kingdom go? Why cant she pee without her bf holding her hand through the door??? And why did a switch suddenly flip in her head to make her go berserk and go back to being the cool, calm and collected self she was in the first book, after her killing spree?!
It just seems like a lot of the characters were being ruined the further you went into the story.

As for the lack of build up, I do feel like it could've been my issue with stories being written in third person, but during any of the important situations I didn't really feel anything. When Salem went deaf out of nowhere, I know how she went deaf but it just kind of sprung up without any build up. Like Emori is screaming one moment and the next moment Salem is suddenly deaf. I feel like that part shouldve been written in her POV as to give more emotion to the scene.
The other times that I felt there was no build up to the event were Pola being killed, Cade saying what he and Deianira went through while Cassian was gone, the injury during the final war and Salem getting her memories back.

About the relationships I will just say that in my opinion the characters didnt have enough time to truly get to know eachother and just interact before they had sex and fell in love.

Id rate the whole series 3/5 but it truly had the potential to be 5/5.
Also what the fuck finally happened with Podak? And what about Cassians parents??

I wrote a whole essay and the app crashed on me. 😀
I’ll just give some points that I wrote about.
• 60% in I was bored and basically skimmed the rest
• salem was annoying (harsh but my opinion)
• nadeen(?) betrayed the absolutely frick out of me
• cassian and salems relationship was so toxic it’s hilarious
• Devin and emori best couple fr
• realized I don’t like trilogies of the same couple
• realized a continuation of the 2nd main couple should be illegal
• where oh where art thou Podak?
• cade(?) and denarieira(?) were so weird and annoying
• denairiraia(?) did not give bestie vibes, especially during the whole dome closing situation
• I loved the ending when they showed their children (sounds so creepy)… as a whole family
• I needed the book to be long but interesting and it did not give what I needed to be given
• the death of Pola was extremely dull, I expected more.
• poor Potak(?)
• “primas” I forgot what those were
• WHO THE HECK WAS aadil(?)
• worldbuilding? Where are you? I need you. :’)
• the switching of pov was random at times, it was weird and I never experienced that pfft
•the spicy scenes were so random i was crying
• don’t remember anything I’ve read
• so many questions left unanswered.

Overall, Devin and Emori carried the whole series.🎆🎇🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I’m so confused did the war just end out of nowhere? Where did Podak go? And if the book is titled “King Of Patriam” why did he never actually become “king” of patriam?

I am so baffled by the amount of plot holes by the end of this book, I feel gaslit by all the 5 star reviews….

1 ⭐️because I LOVE Cass and Salem
2 ⭐️because the first 80% of the book was good

The Epilogue was the best part of the whole book. I loved the insight into the kids and their personalities and quirks. Anyways…

I have NEVER read a book that took such a drastic turn so late in the story. The book went from clearly written story line, timeline and sequence of events to a literal mess - no, a freaking dumpster fire. If I didn’t love Cass and Salem so much I would have DNF this book. It’s a literal time jumping, multiverse mess….

SPOILERS

First and foremost- the title of this book is a joke. Not once did Cassian act as King of Patriam.. all he did was win the trials and leave powerful, human-eating beings to govern themselves… what could go wrong? 🙄 Even after the war, he stayed in the Dome and just worked… wtf was the point?

The author made Cade and Deianira sooo unlikable and for whattt? Many of their decisions did not reflect the people they were in the first book and then just blamed it on years worth of miscarriages? How does that explain abandoning their family and friends and leaving some of them for dead multiple times?

The second Climax of this book was written so poorly. 4/6 of the main characters were killed off and brought back.
Lia was all of a sudden in love with a someone they described as a visibly elder woman. (🤢)
Salem was this all powerful being called UMBRA but broke into a shell of a person after Podak?
Speaking of Podak, wtf happened to him? Did he die like Salem’s hallucinations showed, or did he get away like Cassian’s hallucination showed ORRRR was it neither and he just gave up on his “betrothed” and sent his people to the dome for funnsies? Such a strange “end” for book three’s main villain

AND CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHO TF IS AADIL???

Some books may make you feel happy, sad, overwhelmed, shocked, etc. Well, this one made me experience literally every single feeling! My face hurt from smiling as I read some parts and other times, I had to stop reading to calm down because the pain was too much to handle!

On other occasions, I found my heart dancing because of the chemistry between Cassian and Salem, as if I were the one experiencing their love story.

To say that I was surprised more than once would be an understatement. I felt like my brain was being rocked!

This is the type of book that you can easily devour because of how good it is! It is everything you wanna read!

There are some parts that I wish I could read for the first time again😍

I really wish I could give it a hundred stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

King of Patriam

I just want to know how we went from me thinking Devin died to four months later. For the length of this book I wished for more closure at the end. Especially from Cade and Cassians relationship and Cass being the King of nothing practically. I thought he would at least VISIT Patriam. Also, we still don't know why his eyes glow white or why he developed new powers and if his parents were actually his. As much as I adored seeing all the relationships develop and bonds grow deeper I needed more closure from a last book of the series. But omg Cassian and Salem were 10/10 but DOM AND AKILAH. I love their dynamic so much. Especially the scene where she put his gun in the microwave. And Aiko with Lilo is the sweetest. Seeing Salem with her brothers would've been nice too.

i liked it and i love cassian and salem but some parts were so confusing i had to put the book down for a second to collect my thoughts. the book wasn’t even short but i still feel like some important aspects of salem’s character and backstory were overlooked. i would’ve liked to see more of the depth of her friendship with deinaria. i loved to see salem standing up for herself and both admitting the friendship was toxic but i would’ve liked to see a bit more i mean… these two were family for more than a decade and then suddenly we barely get scenes of them together. overall i enjoyed it but a lot of things could’ve been written way better.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!

This book is officially my LIFE now. I finished this book sooner than I have a 300 page book because, IT’S so good!! I have cried, hated Podak’s guts, but above all I have laughed. This book has everything I could ever need in a book. The characters are sooo easy to LOVE, the genuinely feel like my second family. The parallels I’m this book are also IMMACULATE. Before I go into an hour long rant, I’ll just say… as soon as Amizah writes another book I will be RIGHT there! All my love to this series, these characters, and this author.

I have waited for over a good half year to read this book and it did not disappoint. While every single CHARACTER has managed to piss me off at least once in this book Ms Amizah knows what she’s doing. thank you so much for putting me through an actual emotional rollercoaster. But fr tho, the writing is fucking glorious and I don’t think it could have a better ending to the series. The fight scenes were AMAZING and the spice did NOT disappoint. The one liners are to die for.

🚨SPOILERS🚨DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVENT READ THE BOOK:
I would just like to say screw you Ms Amizah for making me feel so much during these books. When Devin “died” I sobbed for at least 20 minutes and got my phone taken away. And when Cassian “died” during Salem mental thing I was in shock for the whole day. The scene when they got drunk and almost every Cass Devin and Tyla scene were my favorites. And I love how Lilo has joined there family and that she and aiko are dating?? I love this series it is such a good comfort series and a ride or die for me.

I would like to see a book for don and Akilah tho.

“you have numbers” ARE YOU KIDDING ME. this book was perfect in every single way. it makes you feel so many emotions all at once. this book has the best character development with every single character and the most perfect ending. there wasn’t a single moment where i wasn’t sobbing, whether it be happy or sad. i dont care if their relationship wasn’t healthy at first, cassian and salem are the standard. this book deserves so much more than 5 stars but even goodreads cant make up a rating that fits this book.

i have a love hate relationship with this book. honestly, i think i gave it a pretty high rating because of devin. also because i spent a lot of time on it i ending up getting attached

here are some things i liked/loved ab this book:

- devin. he’s amazing, i was genuinely laughing my ass off every time he spoke and i adore him. he was so patient with cassian and when i thought he died i was full on sobbing i couldn’t believe it.
- kenny and ty. bro they were so cute
- akilah and don: i think they were my fav relationship. i would love a book ab them and their story but i’m pretty content with what we got. they were the best enemies to lovers to lovers with banter i’ve ever read
- devin and emori: no explanation, best married couple ever (sorry cade and deianira)
- there were many scenes that were really cute but if u mention them i’ll be here forever
- devin jacobs
- echo was fucking adorable even though she didn’t appear much
- lilo was so endearing i fell in love, her passion for learning was so cute. also loved how aiko was all over her obsessed
- cassian and lilo’s relationship
- kenny and ty’s father

here are things i hated ab the book:

- why the fuck was it 850 pages long? girl sorry but at least 300 pages could’ve been avoided. it also made it very difficult to finish this shit bc of the stress that reading that much made me feel
- cassian and salem: i apologize for this but they were so traumatized that it was annoying. i understand that i was warned at the beginning but i wasn’t even mad, it was just the clinginess that bothered me.
- why did they ruin cade and deianira? what was the reason bro i absolutely loved them for so long and then they got all superior and totally excluded themselves from the plot. and then at the end we got a pathetic reason as to why that was totally bc of miscommunication
- the plot was really intriguing and had so much potential, but i feel like it wasn’t properly developed. because this is (what i assume) the author’s first saga it’s totally understandable. it was very confusing because i knew it was a romance book but there was so much fantasy that i didn’t know what was going on half of the time.
- podak. no explanation needed.

i think that’s everything, i did enjoy the trilogy, it’s not bad, but i think it needs a little bit more development and i has very high standards the were lowered🤷‍♀️

This whole series was a roller coaster.

The characters were so deeply developed and loveable, they way the interact together really shows there found family.

The plot was so thorough and gripping, it was beautifully written. It was an enjoyable read that I couldn’t put down

4.5 stars. Omgggg this was so good. I wasn’t expecting it too be this long and tbh I think the competition part should’ve been in the first book and started offf the second book after that. Loveedddd Salem and cassians development through this. Was not expecting to hate Deiyanira and Cade so much… they’re lowkey the worst and I’m just so disappointed. Even at the end I feel like they could’ve done more. Also I wish there was more info abt cassians “parents” and who they are cuz that was never really answered. Also I wanted to see/know if Salem found out abt being UMBRA? There were just a few things missing for me tbh. But this was so cute and honestly reminded me a little of the hunger games. Also I’m just so happy Lia got a happy ending.. the things she’s gone through and the way cade just like dropped her got me so angry. Get me a man who would break someone’s legs for me👏😊

Just when i thought I couldn’t love Cassian more..
Ive been in a reading slump for the past month and half and this book got me back into reading.
Been waiting for it for so long now I can’t believe it’s over. I cannot begin to explain the love i have for Cassian and Salem and their love story, the way he’s so patient with her i cant🥺 Just perfect.

I’m so sad. IM SO SO SAD THAT IVE REACHED THE END OF SALEM AND CASSIAN’S ERA. I’m not ready for it to be over. They’re the cutest couple ever. They’re literally perfect. They just get each other. And match one another perfectly. Cassian treats Salem like the queen she is. He’s also gives and is a golden retriever bf. They’re just everything. I’m so sad that I can’t read abt them anymore. But rly excited for Devin and Emori’s Novella. And Donnie and Akhila’s book. OMG CAN WE TALK ABT HOW I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK THINKING DEVIN DIED. Like why would u do that to me. He’s literally one of the best characters. Can’t wait to read abt him!!!

♾️/5 stars more like !!!

This book had me feeling emotions I didn’t know existed 😀

Made me BAWL but it’s okay because it also had me giggling and cackling and blushing and kicking my feet like a child too

Salem and Cassian are officially some of my favourite characters ever… never mind them two TOGETHER omg I love them smm

Reading through some lower ⭐️ ratings with some critiques I low-key agree with some stuff but sometimes it’s more about how the book makes you feel while reading it

Needless to say I am waiting here (impatiently) for more books from this author 🙏🏼

I LOVED THIS BOOK. The emotion. The pain. The love. Everything about this book was amazing. The book is so long but so worth it in the end. Salem has so much fortitude and raw, overwhelming strength it’s just amazing. Cassias is filled with love and passion with mental intellect and brute, physical strength. I loved this book sm 🩷🤩. (Still don’t know if it’s a 5 or 4.5 star read yet).

loved it loved it loved it loved it loved it. The second book was my favourite because this book had some unnecessary pieces and I think a little bit of it was slightly unhinged. The plot twists were amazing, the FRIENDSHIPS that were formed. I also have some resentment for Cade and his wife tbh😭 Salem and Cassian and Devin and Emori are the IT COUPLESSS
