FACE IN THE FOG
The year was 1885, and lovely young Cecilia Jade Cummings stood along in the fog swirling through San Francisco. Behind her she had left her crippled younger brother on the wharf where they had disembarked from their long voyage. With mingled hope and fear she tried to see what lay ahead.

Then the mist parted -- and suddenly Cecilia was staring into a face too strong to be handsome, too striking to ever forget. There was anger in that face, and cruelty, and an iron will that would not be denied.

Even as Cecilia gazed at this man for the first time, she somehow knew she was looking at her fate--for good or for unspeakable evil....

A wonderful experience. I fell in love with this book as a young teen, and I reread it every few years, the most recent being last week. :) This book had me wanting to visit California for the first time in my life - Eureka, of course (no fog when I was there :/ ). ;) An enjoyable ride of murder, mystery, trust, and love.
