Death should bring peace, an end to life’s momentous struggle. But that isn’t always the case. Sometimes the dead just will not stay silent. When the mummified remains of a pregnant woman are discovered in the cemetery at St Matthew’s Church, DCI Paul Wells and his team start the hunt for a murderer who is threatening the very fabric of the church’s long tradition. Someone thinks they’ve got away with murder – but not for much longer. Whilst Wells battles to keep one of his team out of prison he must wade through a tangle of lies before the truth finally surfaces.
I'm so into this series. When is book 4 golng to be published? Once again, Patti Battison had me on the edge of my seat. So many suspects , but which one did it? You won't want to miss this one, readers. As for Mia and Nick; will they eventually end up being together as a couple? Or will the bickering between them continue? 5 stars from this happy reader.
I really didn't want this book to end!! Each book in this series has got better & better. I am already missing the team & all their fabulous emerging characters. Thank you Patti - but please hurry with the next one! 😁
I have read all three books in this and have enjoyed all three books. The antagonism between Mia and is finally resolved which will make for a better read when the series continues.
I liked the pace of the writing. Unfortunately Mia really gives me the gripes. In the 3 books I have read she hasn’t learnt a thing about her very very judgemental nature.
Detective Sergeant Mia Harvey is more than relieved when a body is discovered in an unmarked grave just as her mother's funeral is over. A murder investigation, if that is what it is, will give her something to think about other than her mother.
The body belongs to pregnant Rebecca Crawford and she was buried in a meadow next to the cemetery. The area was in a flood zone so had not been used for burials. Who would know that?
As Mia and her fellow officers try to make heads of tails of the crime which took place in the past, the killer tries to stop them. Dead ends and wrong suspects abound. Everyone seems to know just who did it; but no one knows. Several well-kept town secrets get out before everything draws to a close.
Good book but a bit slow. It took a while to figure out it was set in England.
