I am discovering a new author, Mariah Stewart. Her stories are interesting, mysterious without too much technicalities. I find myself reading every page instead of skipping lots of pararaphs. This story is a sequel to Mercy Street but if you haven't read the first I don't think you'll notice it. Its about a foundation who looks for missing people that the FBI or other offcials have given up on and about the people who run the organization. If you like mystery you'll like this.

I think that this book was a very good book. It has a very interesting plot and it has loads of suspense. I can barely put down the book after I started reading it. The author described every situation very well that I can picture it in my head. This book is actually about a mother who used to be a police. She adopted a criminal's child after her desperate pleas. She kept trying to run away and hide her daughter, Chloe, afraid that Chloe's biological father would find Chloe and take her away. Therefore, one day, she realised that her house was being watched and immediately packed up and left. She took Chloe and fled to a smaller town and got a job as a detective there with the help of her good friend. As her first assignment, she had to find a missing child. As she searched deeper and deeper, she discovered many unbelievable facts behind the disappearance of many children. The more she learned about the case, the more danger she got herself into. Finally, the case was cracked and Chloe was safe from her biological father forever.

I liked this book.

I suppose that's obvious from the stars that I gave and the fact that I'm even writing a review in the first place.

However, I liked the first book better. I'm just a fan of Mal and Charlie as the main characters. BUT. Nick was a decent lead and Ann/Emme was an interesting character. I felt more connected to her than I did to Mal even though the characters have very similar backgrounds.

What I didn't like is that the book essentially ends with a sort of cliffhanger. It felt rushed and sort of implausible and none of knew what happened between Nick and Emme, what name she was going to choose, what happened with Whitacker and whether or not Chloe ever said anything to Nick or Emme.

In the sense of a romance novel, well, it's more of a mystery with romantic elements. It's a quick beach read and it's not something you should expect a lot out of. It's well-written if not not always well thought out when it comes to the end. As a reader I just kept thinking to myself, how can you not tie up some of the larger loose ends? I'm hoping they'll be another book featuring them. That would be helpful because I don't want to learn about what's happening to them solely through the POV of the new lead characters.

All in all, good story - not the greatest book of all time - but definitely worth the read for those that want a small side dish of romance with your mystery.

AWESOME! Mallory Russo features in this one but as a background character. The main focus is on Emme Caldwell (and her daughter Chloe) who joins the Mercy Street Foundation as an investigator. Her first case with MSF is finding a 19 year old college student who disappeared without a trace five months before. The case involves artificial insemination and donor siblings - children created from the same "donor/father" sperm. A very intriguing and complicated mystery with a rather satisfying conclusion.

This is a super quick read. The action starts on page 1 and doesn't stop until page 411. What a spectacular surprise ending! If you enjoyed Mercy Street, you will absolutely love Cry Mercy. Can't wait for Acts of Mercy A Mercy Street Novel to be published.

My copy of Cry Mercy was a hardback, regular print, over 400 pages.

This is the second time I've read this book(I'm reading the whole series for the 2nd time).
I enjoyed the book as much this time as I did the 1st time I read it. It has been several years since I read the series the first time, so it's like getting a new book for me!

After reading the first book in the series, Mercy Street, I wanted the story to continue and this is that book. Cry Mercy picks up right from the previous book and keeps your interest from the first page.

There's several "stories within the story" in this series. What happened to the wife and child of Robert Magellan? Each book has another mystery, love connection, etc., that adds to the series.

I love the book. As I said, it is a page turner and even better than Mercy Street because it gets you farther into the story.

I loved this book. Mariah Stewart is fast becoming one of my fav authors!

Cry Mercy is the second book of the Mercy Street Foundation Series. This book focuses on new hire Emme who leaves her hometown and past behind to come to work for the Mercy Foundadtion as an investigator.
The story focuses on her first investigation involving a missing college student.
Full of action and romance this book keeps you interested and wondering what is going to happen next. I love that it continued things from the first book and leaves you with just enough at the end to make you want to read the next one.
Excellent book!

This book is pretty interesting. It goes under the mystery catigory. The beginning of the book kepps you wondering. The first couple of pages makes you want to keep on reading. As you read along in your head you imagin whats going on. The blood on the walls, the house, the setting, place, mood. Everything. At least thats what was going through my head.
The main character goes through a journy trying to fin d her daughter. Its a good bood. The way it describes things. It made me feel as if I was there in reality. I recommend this book to anyone that likes mystery books. If you like to watch the show "Law and Order" or "CSI" this book is for you.

I read this book last night when I couldn't sleep. I wasn't even tired, so I just lay there at o'dark 30 and read this whole book in about 4 hours. I found it very entertaining and relatively predictable, though there were a few unanticipated details to keep the story fresh and interesting. This is great brain candy if you have a few hours to just relax and get through a book.

The 2nd in this series. It was a great book and I really want to read the last one, but unfortunately my Mother picked it up and it really wouldn't be nice to take it back. I'll give her a few days before I get ugly.

I thought the first book was good, this one was EXCELLENT. Absolutely could not put it down. I often don't read the same author back to back, but I know I'm going to be grabbing the third book, Acts of Mercy, to follow.

It started out great, but overall, the book was just okay. The secondary stories were kind of distracting and the resolution of the primary story was too abrupt for my taste.

I read this book because I had it in my "stash" and had never read Mariah Stewart before. I don't think I will ever be a fan of Mariah's. The first 3/4's of the book were like reading a 3rd grade primer or watching a Hallmark....sorry Hallmark...don't take offense. 3/4's of the way through the book, the "mystery" story kicked into high gear. I enjoyed....well somewhat enjoyed....the last quarter of the book. Mariah's defense mechanism is to leave you hanging at the end as far as the characters. So I may, if I have it or find it in a thrift store, read the next "Mercy" book, but I wouldn't make any bets on it. Onto something more fast paced.......

I can't believe

that I am only now discovering Mariah Stewart. I first read and loved Mercy Street, and have just finished this second book of the series. Beautifully written stories that grab onto you from the beginning. The best thing is it looks like I will have plenty of reading material for a while because Ms Stewart has several books to her credit. I am a little sad that there appears to be only one more title in the Mercy Street series and I am quite attached to these characters now.

Good until the two kinda of just too cute endings. This is the tale of Emme who, to protect her adopted daughter from her drug lord father, moves across country to become an investigator to Mercy street foundation. Her first case is a missing college girl. So we have to end the case, totally unbelievable and seemed to be missing a lot of detail, and the drug lord dad’s search for his kid- ludicrous

“Some missing persons will never be found, some killers will never be brought to justice. But we’ll do our best on every case. For some victims, there will be justice. For some families, there will be closure.”

I love this series, wish there were more books in it. This one follows the Mercy Street Foundation expanding and hiring on new staff. We have hidden identities and secrets. And a missing girl to find.

I enjoyed the second book in this series even more than the first. A few things going on at once, not just the main story plot which was great and kept it interesting. A fast moving mystery with some deep emotional pulls on the heartstrings at one point. I found myself tearing up which doesn't usually happen. Anyway, I loved it and can't wait to read the 3rd in the series. Highly recommended.

Cry Mercy

I love Emme and Nick and Chloe is adorable. I loved her so much. The mystery surrounding the donor siblings was interesting and I kinda figured it was the son infiltrating the chat board in the donor 1735 chat. The daughter was an accomplice to her brother's crimes. Now onto the next book and finding Ian.

I really thought the first book was slow but since I bought it for $1 I was going to read the second that I bought for a $1. It was really good as the first one took so long to build a storyline. I can't wait to read the last in the series and I hope it's the best of them all.

The whole rescue scene was off. Nick slams into JJ’s boat. They wrestle in the water. Nick overcomes JJ. Then he goes to release Emme. Wait. What happened to JJ during the tender reunion of the two lovers? Finally Nick returned to tie up JJ until the cavalry arrives. Just a poorly written section.

A very well-written crime/mystery novel. All the new characters are still likeable and the storyline believable enough.

2nd book in the series. Less romance (except a quickie that came out of nowhere) but a decent mystery plot and good continuation of the series.

Great read! 3 stories involved in this book. A person in hiding, missing students and the continuation of Roberts family. I very much like this author.
