And... I'm done. :/ I hate it when I get to the last book in a series. It's depressing because I become so attached to the characters and their world.

1) again, I truly love this world. At least for me, it's different - unique and creative - and it's rich. There are still a few nuances, rules, and whatnot that I don't know (and would like to), but overall the author created a truly fantastic setting. A for that.

2) the two protagonists just stole my heart. Maggie was strong, willful, smart, talented, and just lovely. And Eran. Holy wow. He was wonderful. I loved him. I loved their devotion and their relationship, how it transcended time and spanned not just time and space, but dimensions. Wow. That's... yeah. The protagonists get an A from me.

The secondaries were good. Solid B. A few were a little underdeveloped IMO and a few seemingly came out of nowhere. But overall, I liked them. I think Campion was my favorite.

The villains get maybe a B-. Some were underdeveloped. Some were just a little... too much? Or too much that they weren't believable in the context they were used.

3) I really enjoyed the plot - the war between good and evil and all the battles it encompassed. There were a few turns that I found to be a little distracting / unnecessary, but not bad at all. A few things occurred that, I felt, were a little under-explained or maybe too convenient. Also, like in the other books, I found the climax itself to be a bit rushed compared to the rest of the book. It was too quickly and too easily done. But overall this book's plot execution wasn't bad at all. Gets a B from me.

4) Romance. Ties in with 2) but I really enjoyed this throughout the series. The UST was insane in a few places, but admittedly, I was ready / relieved for MxE to... consummate by mid-book3. A few of the lines were used too often and in some cases, I felt MxE were having the same conversation over and over. And I kind of rolled my eyes a little at all the chastity - not it per se, but the reasons that were used. I mean, they'd had sex before... and they were married, lol.

But... as a whole, the MxE was beautiful. The parts were the two characters watched / felt each other die? Holy my chest hurts so badly! I loved, loved, loved those angsty bits... And when Eran died that last go around? Oh my sobs. It took everything I had to not flip to the end to make sure it all ended okay!

5) I'd say the writing and editing is probably the weakest part of these books. It's not terrible, and it's better than some other "well known" YA books. But some phrases and descriptors are used way too many times (i.e. Eran's "signature smirk"). There's a good bit of unneeded repetition. There are some editing flubs (grammar, punctuation, etc). This author's story-telling shows a lot of promise, however. A little polishing on the mechanics and execution would be good. I'll give this a B-/B.

This has been a great (and very surprising) read. It's clean (meaning not smutty or vulgar), which is nice from time to time. It's exciting and refreshing. The characters are likable. And the world was fascinating. I couldn't put these books down. Now... now I'm anxious to see what this author cooks up next.

Okay,

So I just finished reading this book... And I did enjoy it!

I first came across this series several months ago when I was waiting for Fallen Eden by Nicole Williams to be released. I thought, Oh what the heck, it's $.99, why not give it a try! Well, let me tell you, I was glad that I gave it a try. I enjoyed it so much that I continued w/the second book Eternity, and then was surprised a couple of days ago when I discovered that Reckoning was out! I put another book that I was reading on hold, just to read this one!

I really liked Magdalene's character in all 3 books! This book especially. She is so committed to her cause to protect those she loves that she really doesn't care what happens to her. She is very independent, but she still NEEDS Eran! I enjoyed that we get to experience A LOT more of her and Eran's relationship in this one. He is definitely more open about "PDA" in this one, and for that I am thankful!

I like what Laury Falter did here! Every time that she explained something that Magdalene was feeling (especially when it was about Eran!), you (or I would) feel it as well. The butterflies in her stomach or the giddiness when ever he made some kind of physical contact w/her or when he gave her that special smirk!

I really enjoy that you do get the "story" to Abbadon & his "followers" and why it is that they are truly after Magadalene. I like that it's a quick but thorough explanation of it (if that even makes any sense). All in all, it doesn't disappoint, or at least, it didn't disappoint me!

Would I recommend this book? Absolutely. Is it for anyone and everyone? I don't know, but I definitely enjoyed!

Phwoarrrrrr. That is the only sound that comes to mind. This book was fully made of awesomesauce!

The awesomeness started in the first page and kept going right up until the last word on the last page.

Magdalene (Maggie) & Eran were even better in this one, I didn’t think it was possible. They are continuing their mission to eradicate the Fallen Ones to eternal death to save the alterums as well as the human race, but also so they can finally focus on their relationship and just being together without having to fear for the others lives.

Everyone united in the book to get the job done and my jaw was hanging a lot of the way through the book. This book is non stop action – something interesting was always happening. And not all of it bad. I adored the sneaky touches and the build up to their kisses. I absolutely felt their love. It oozed from the pages. I am so happy for them. I just want to read more of their happily ever after. The original soul mates <3

Ms Falter did a sensational job with this series and particularly this book. When Maggie got butterflies, so did I, when she was impassioned so was I, when she was horrified viewing past lives of the baddest of the baddies so was I. I felt all the emotions right alongside Maggie, often getting goosebumps with the suspense of what was going to happen next. My hat goes off to you Ms Falter!

Please read this series fellow Goodreads pals. This series was delightful.

So here’s what I think of the ‘Guardian Trilogy’ (may contain spoilers)...

I enjoyed reading ‘Fallen’, but for ‘Eternity’ and ‘Reckoning’ is a different story. It became boring for some reason. Book 2, which is eternity, is quite similar to Lauren Kate’s ‘Passion’ of the ‘Fallen’ series, which I find boring as well. Although I think Eternity is less boring, it’s the same concept as Passion. And how many times does Maggie and Eran have to say that they have this certain effect to each other? Like for the nth time, up to the final battle!

Also, there are some things that's a little bit of confusing to me. Maybe I just didn't really read and understand the book, I don’t know.

Here are some:

1. The first time Maggie mentioned to Eran about the Fallen ones, Eran was surprised (asking “how did you know they’re fallen?”) that she knows about them when He should've known that Maggie has a built-in radar for them, having known her for centuries. I get it he thought that all fallen ones were exterminated, but he says it himself that Maggie is always in trouble. Someone always tries to kill her. Who else would want to kill her badly but the fallen ones? And, how can fallen ones be extinct? Isn't it that, based from this book, all souls can be either alterum or fallen? Hence, even if they send all fallen to its eternal death, there’s always a possibility of new fallen ones, right?!

2. After Ms. Beedinwigg trained Maggie, she still thinks that Maggie is not ready to fight the fallen ones. So how to be ready? She has to die...and fall as an Alterum. Really? Well I don’t see the point in training her then. As an Alterum, Maggie is very capable of defending herself.

3. Marco, which is a fallen, appeared in Book 2 and suddenly disappeared in Book 3? It was not mentioned if he was also killed by Maggie during one of her hunting days (or nights). And I don’t think he will join Abaddon’s army since he said that he’s just a spectator. Since the ending of this series shows that the world is fallen-free so I assume Marco is also dead...but how? I don’t even get how Marco became a fallen to begin with, I thought you have to be a bad soul to become one?

4. Abaddon: if he is that bad, how come he didn't evolve into an Elsic? And if the Elsics were so frighteningly bad, how come they follow orders from a fallen one, which is supposed to be a little bit lower on the bad-o-meter? The reason given in the book doesn't do it for me.

5. All along I thought that eternal death means you cease to exist in ANY plane/dimension. How can you call it “eternal death” if you still exist in one plane? It appears that eternal death means you’ll just be miserably locked up in heaven’s version of jail.

And a lot more...too many to mention :) Reading this series was OK, sometimes boring as I've mentioned. You know with some books, after quite some time you would want to revisit and read them again?...well this is not one of them.

Don't get your hopes up when you see the near 4.4 star rating and gushing reviews. It is puzzling how this book, in all its plot-holey-gramatically-errored glory, can elicit such a positive response from the majority of readers.

Honestly? I don't see what all the fuss is about. What is in this book that appeals to so many people?

What pestered me out of all of the flaws of Reckoning was the sudden change of Maggie, the main character in this book. In the first book, she is weak, depending on Eran for protection. This is also the case in book 2, except her action at the end, an attempt to save the world. In this book, she makes the not-so-subtle and unbelievable shifting from a "weak" to a "strong" heroine. Frankly, I find this very unrealistic; I feel like the author did this to show her strength and bad-assery, when, in reality, it just felt forced and fake.

Some may think the redeeming quality of this book is the romance. No, no, no. The romance between Eran and Maggie is... icky. Barf-worthy. Not gross in the sense you think, but gross in a way that was full of kissing during random and innappropriate moments and the overusage of the term "I love you" in all its variations. Cute is the last word I would use to describe their relationship.

As a final book in the series, Reckoning did a rather poor job of tying things together. It would have been very difficult to write a solid conclusion, since the first two books were very bad.

Most of the time, I had no idea what the characters were talking about. I felt like something was missing , some crucial element of the plot the author failed to mention that caused my constant confusion. In all honesty, the actual plot wasn't very good to begin with, so even if the author somehow managed to write a perfect book, I still wouldn't have been very interested.

This book had the same glaring flaws present in the first two installments. It did not improve, and if it did, only very minimally. Like the writing, for example. Compared to Fallen, there is noticable improvement, but it is still a pain to read.

Should I address the beyond cheesy Epilogue? Considering the fact I don't like Eran, like, at all, it wasn't a pleasure to read. I love HEA, but this book butchers the phrase and takes HEA to another level.

But don't make me stop you from reading this book. If you enjoy cliche, overused storylines that make little sense and pay no heed to offering explanations, then go for it.

Celeste's review: 4.5 stars! I was eager to start the final installment immediately after I finished Eternity. The pressure was on for Maggie to defeat the Fallen Ones or be defeated herself. I wasn’t crazy about Maggie heading out on her own, she seemed a little foolish thinking she could take the mission on all by herself. I know it is something we see a lot in books-the heroine or hero has to do something solo to save the others. I’m just not a fan, but the rest was so well written I could get over it. Her personal mission was also quite debatable, and it seemed to consume her. Something that wasn’t good for her personally, as well as all the angels. She didn’t think beyond her immediate goals at the possible consequences her mission could have. And that is where the story heats up.

There were constant battles and fights to the death in this book. As in eternal death. It was intense! Each time a battle was over, there was usually a small tidbit of information that Maggie, Eran and his army could use so the story progressed at a constant clip. Maggie also used her skills as a Messenger to learn more about her opponents. I won’t say how in the review, but I thought this was very ingenious and I loved the author’s creativity!

Not only did this book heat up with all the battles, it also heated up in the romance department. Eran and Maggie definitely had a physical attraction to each other, but for the sake of their mission, they couldn’t lose focus and have any time for themselves. It was stolen moments filled with angst as they waited for the perfect moment. RAWR!

As I fan myself down we also got to see Gershom again in this book and he didn’t disappoint either. He continued as an ally and friend to Maggie, lending just the right amount of support. There was some more of Campion too, but for me personally, just not enough. He is one smoking hot dude (I love my romance, what can I say!) and I’m convinced he has a fabulous story to tell. The other secondary characters such as Ezra, Felix, Rufus, and Ms. Beedinwigg were the same, they didn’t take the spotlight away and filled in the background nicely

The ending was starting to stress me out! I didn’t know how it was going to go, and I was really hoping the author wouldn’t end like THAT. Can’t say anymore, but Ms. Falter pulled out all the stops and I loved it. If you love angels, romance and action, this series is a must read!

Wow!! Again, this series was amazing. Laury Falter spent very little time adding too many details or extra "fluff" to these books, as most authors end up doing (and ruining it).

This last book, was a perfect ending. I mean, although I had an idea of how the ending may be, I still felt every emotion along reading! Every embarrassing and frustrating moment Maggie came across, I felt as I read. Most especially the loving bond between Maggie and Eran, just the right amount! There wasn't much to make it a "trashy love novel," but there was just enough to help you connect to the romance these two characters shared. I actually cried at a very perplexing, sad moment in this book! (That doesn't usually happen with me!) I could not to put it down. I just kept feeling like I needed to know what happens next.

I strongly suggest this series if you enjoy books with action as well as love- But want more romance between characters. Falter delivered enough to help you connect and share the emotions they had, creating an amazing ending. Especially without making it lame like in Twilight (lol).

Amazing! Laurie Falter is a genius in this series. I'm talking about love, action, and suspense. Characters that are gutsy, herolike, lionhearted, attractive, charming, and pure evil.

We start with Magdalene who will go to no end to protect the one's she love. She is a tough cookie who turns into mush when she is around her loyal and devoted guardian Eran. Eran being very aware that Maggie is stubborn tries to keep her away from the war because her death from a Fallen One will result to Eternal death.

Their love makes her strong as well as determined. Maggie feels guilty that everyone's life is at stake due to her hunting spree; and so she decides to learn more about her enemies; Abaddon to be precise by visiting past lives.

Abaddon is pure evil and seeks revenge. He will involve every Fallen One and the Elsic creatures to make sure he is triumphant.

Listen! This book is an amazing read. I was cheering for Maggie and Eran to express their love for each other (wink wink). Funny roommates, loyal friends, great fighting scenes.

The end will shock you. I sobbed like a baby. I was not expecting any of it. This series started brilliant and ended outstanding.

I have never re-read a novel; Guardian Trilogy will be the first.

This book (and this trilogy) was amazing. I finished it in a couple of days and just could not put it down.

Yes, some parts were a little cheesy, but the storyline was just so well thought out that I looked passed the cheesiness and just enveloped myself into the story. Admittedly, I was kind of obsessed with this trilogy. When I was at work, I wanted to come back home to pull out my Kindle and finish the next chapter and move onto the next book.

I was so invested in these characters that I was a little sad that it had to come to an end. I felt all of the emotions of the Maggie as we see the world through her eyes - her love for Eran, her anger, her grief, and her happiness. Eran is probably my favorite character of the book as he always watched over Maggie, protecting her and never overbearing (if he was, it was at least cute).

I laughed, I cried (OMG did I cry), but most of all, I just loved this story.

Now I have to look for another book to fill the void that this last book has left me...

What a great trilogy. I love Eran, he's so devoted to Maggie. She can be so stubborn but I guess that's what great about her. I feel as if the ending is a little rush and too good to be true but hey, it's hea so I am ok with it. Great books

I read the first two books in the series, the first book being my favorite and then decided to read a few other books before coming back and finishing. I just needed a break from the characters and now I remember why. I hate not finishing a book. Some books I struggle through end up being really great books once you get through the first few chapters, but I could tell early on this was not going to be the case. The book started off really well with Maggie being by herself and hunting a Fallen, but within two chapters here comes Eran back into the picture. Which would have been fine other then when they weren't talking about hunting Fallen all Maggie could seem to think about was having sex with Eran and when it would happen. When they were talking about having sex every conversation ended with Eran explaining that he was also frustrated and wanted to have sex, but he wanted to wait so it would be special. I mean I'm all for some pent up sexual tension in a book, but there back and forth was very annoying and wasn't adding anything to the story. I read to page 68 and couldn't handle it anymore. It felt like the story was going nowhere and the same conversations were repeated every chapter.

This one didn’t quite do it for me but I was glad to finally get some *relief* about 73% into which is entirely too long to wait for consenting adults who are married and have already had sex before despite having a century long dry spell *deep breath* over the course of three books. Exhale. Anyways.

Evidently there is another one after this and two prequels but I’m fine. I feel good. You’re doing great kids.

Literally one of the worst series I have ever read. (WARNING! This review contains SPOILERS!!!!)

First off I am a big fan of paranormal angel series. I loved Fallen, and Hush, Hush and Halo. So I was really excited about this book. But from the first chapter I knew there were going to be issues. The writing lacks so much in detail and in imagery. The pace is fast, which I have no problem with, until it goes so fast that you loose all of the necessary components to writing a well written book. Why did the Alterums and Fallen Ones have wings? They never really explain if they are angels or not. Eran is certainly a heartthrob. That I cannot deny. But why in the world does he have an English accent? That just came out of left field. The secondary characters of Maggie's roommates were shallow and underdeveloped. I never really cared about them in the way that I did with Maggie and Eran. Plus all of the characters have weird names. So weird that I had a hard time trying to remember who each one was. I am certainly not saying that they shouldn't have been named Bob and Fred, but come on. Gershom?
Again the pace of the book was just one thing that really irked me. Particularly in the last book. The first book was okay, I wanted to know what was going to happen more than I actually appreciated the writing. In the third book, Eran dies which made me so sad! That wasn't the problem though. The problem was that when he came back to life, there was nothing meaningful that happened between Maggie and Eran. She just plopped him down and they went back to fighting. Second, the ending was soooooo anti climactic. Abaddon (which again is such a stupid name. His name literally has 'bad' in it!) dies with a knife through the chest. Great. Cool. That's it? What happened to all of the Fallen Ones having special ways to die? His was just a knife through the heart? Another inconsistency in the series. Then all of a sudden guess what?! None of the 'angels' (or whatever the heck they are) can actually die! Maggie just goes underground and yay! Not dead. And not a good plot twist. So no one in this series will ever die and they will all live happily ever after... for forever. Stupid.
The ending was such a let down. I spent 3 days reading this series and then there was no closing. I'm not a reader who expects there to be a happy ending tied in a neat bow. But I do expect to feel some sort of close. This did not happen. What happened to Maggie's Aunt? She's mentioned, what? Like twice in the first book and then once in the second and not at all in the third. Why did she never give Maggie a call? Yupp just drop your teenage kid in a whole different country and then never contact her again. Awesome.
I think one of the measures of great writing is when I can actually see what is going on in the book. A lot of this series is just thought. There is no detail and imagery to show the read what is happening. What did the surroundings smell like, feel like, LOOK like?! Never does Laury show this in her series. I never saw what was happening, because all that was said was Maggie's thoughts.
I'm getting really worked up writing this (which is one of the reasons I don't normally write reviews for books I hated). So I'm going to leave it at this.
-It was a good concept, but it needed more development and detail, and thought, before it was ever turned into a book. Not the number one worst series I've ever read, but in my top 5.

A solid and satisfying finish to the series. Reckoning brings everything full circle with romance, suspense, and the threat of epic consequences. It’s dramatic and heartfelt, even if some twists feel familiar. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the ride and wants closure with a splash of angelic warfare.

One of the BEST series I have read this year! (DO NOT LET THE COVERS FOOL YOU!) Laury Falter, creates a masterpiece with her Guardian Trilogy. This series is the definition of near-perfection with a few minor errors. Fallen, is the first book of Falter that I have read, and I was mesmerize by her creativity, -detailed writing. And, she does not prolong the events and tries to stretch out the story! I love that! This is a trilogy and I am glad she did not try to expand the story any further, then, it would have changed my opinion; the plot would have become dull.

Fallen, I rated a 5/5 star. Deserves all compliments and recognition—A solid plot, vibrant characters, action, (only to name a few admirable qualities of this first installment) mystery, and best of all, it is unpredictable!

This is where readers are introduced to Maggie and Eran for the first time. It's amazing to see how their relationship builds, their dialogues are full of wit and sarcasms. Full of fun. I enjoyed every moment of their interactions!

Eternity, (4.5/5 stars) second book in the series, just as good, but there were a few grammar and incomplete sentence issues (It's not really incomplete sentence, but there were one or two chapters where -- before the next page a word would be cut short.) It didn't really affect the book, you still are able to understand what the author is trying to say, I am merely pointing it out for those who cares about these little things.

Reckoning, (4/5 stars) the last installment ... the final conclusion, and I could not have imagined a better one! Action-packed and SO much thrill! The reason for the 4/5 star, is because Maggie annoyed me at some parts, she kept wanting to jump into action without thinking matters through. An ending that doesn't disappoint, however!

Overall, from the beginning to the very end, Laury Falter held my attention (after book one, I bought book two, and then three. THAT's how good this book is) with her detailed writing (the description of the world she created, to the in between world Maggie goes through, it was not hard to picture), surprises, and creativity ( there were many new elements I have never seen in any other YA, what is most important, is that she was able to take those standout-elements and mash them together, without the story seeming overdone). A great read, I highly recommend!

The last book of the Guardian Trilogy unfortunately was slightly disappointing. Don't get me wrong, I still liked the series overall but I was a little let down with the last book.

As the war between fallen ones and angels grow, the threat of the fallen ones magnifies as they unleash darker creatures that can send everyone including humans to eternal death. Maggie is determined to rid the world of Fallen Ones and to keep her loved ones safe but as she treads deeper into her obsession she realizes that she may be bringing more harm than she realized.

I felt like the last book sort of glazed over the war and big battle at the end. It felt like all of it was quickly squished into the last 10% of the book. With everything happening so fast and with the ending of the book it seemed almost anti-climatic. It wasn't fully anti-climatic like Twilight's Breaking Dawn but it was almost there in my opinion. I was slightly disappointed with how the last battle ended. I was expecting it to be more but it fell flat.

The beginning of the book focused a lot more on the romance between the two main characters. There is a lot of back and forth between the characters that seemed a bit much since we know that they love each other already. It almost seemed like it was fluff that was added just to add substance.

Overall, I still think the series is one of the best "angel" fantasy series out there but I didn't love the last book which made me disappointed. In fact, I thought the last book was the worst of the three.

Again, there were more story inconsistencies in this book and some holes that were left, not sure if that was done on purpose for future stories.

Phwoarrrrrr. That is the only sound that comes to mind. This book was fully made of awesomesauce!

The awesomeness started in the first page and kept going right up until the last word on the last page.

Magdalene (Maggie) & Eran were even better in this one, I didnt think it was possible.

This book is non stop action something interesting was always happening.

I have to tell you that the final book in this series had it all for me. I was surprised by how well it did end. I loved Maggie and Eran. They are what I believe is what soul mates are meant to be and with added dimensions of how their past brought them to the present. The UST remained almost all until 70% of the book was done. I loved how they was intimate happened. It was not smutty. It was full of intimacy for me. So many new set of characters came into play but it wasn't confusing for me to keep up. One of the characters, Sarai, was a very interesting to see how her past came into play. I thought that she was pure evil but I was also given a different Sarai. A Sarai that was not as beautiful as she was. The writer gave her more depth to see why she became who she is. That was enlightening to me. I also loved reading about Eran and Maggie's past together. Towards the end of this book I had so many emotions. Love, Hate, Anger and Sorrow. I truly look forward to what Laury Falter writes next. Overall, I have to give this a 5 stars. I am also sad to see this series ending and letting go of this characters. I have to give thanks to Kate (she knows who she is) for leading me towards this series. I love fantasy. The battle between good and evil. I am also a romantic at heart that loves the idea of fated love.

This book was the best yet, it was full of drama, action, love, heartbreak, and such heartwarming parts between Maggie and Eran. I worried about Maggie for awhile, afraid she was going to get hurt because of putting herself at risk all of the time. There were many interesting but upsetting parts in this book, I liked reading about Maggie going back to the past but I hated her visiting certain people's past, there were many parts that I cried like a baby. I could not believe certain things that happened in this book, how the Alterums treated her, Eran, and her friends was awful, I was happy they saw the light. I will tell you the past Eran and Maggie had together was both beautiful and heartbreaking, I loved what Dominick told her about her and Eran, it was a perfect explanation for their connection. What Maggie suffered when her and Eran were apart and a tragedy occurred broke my heart but when she revisited this time through the scrolls it made me cry so hard, I was sickened by what she saw and what Eran went through. Then the battle between her and Abaddon wow, that is all I can say, I thought, how in the world is this going to end. I never thought about what her ability would mean in another location, smart idea, smart writing. I loved the ending and I hate that this series is over.

Reckoning is in my opinion the best of the three. I did not feel like Falter rushed the ending, rather she let the ending come out organically. I was very pleased with how this series ended and I would recommend the entire Guardian Trilogy to anyone considering reading it.

Unlike the previous novels, Reckoning begins with action and keeps up the momentum with ease. There was only one occasion when I felt like the book had done a 180 and everything just stopped. Even then I think this pause was necessary, because afterwards it is a mad dash to the finish.

Magdalene--she is a character that changes, grows, evolves from start to finish. Even in Reckoning Maggie has room to grow and finally comes into her character's full potential towards the end. I wish maybe she came upon this realization sooner since the change transforms into someone the reader has yet to see until that very moment, and then it's over.

I would say everything wrapped up smoothly. All the questions and plots were answered and tied up neatly. I questioned some of the events that took place in Reckoning, but all in all I am very happy with how the series ended.
