Interesting to hear her thoughts on the battles in Texas. And while I understand her concern regarding the possibility of homeschooling contributing to abuse, it is very poorly informed and was disappointing. Her choice to send her kids to public school is her right. But some choose differently, and do a fabulous job at home. To lump all homeschoolers together as needing government oversight is an overcorrection of her personal experiences.
Solid sequel to her book Escape, this book goes over the good, bad, and ugly of the raid on a ranch that became a focal point of the cult. The second half of the book feels almost like a combo between how she did it (almost presented in a self-help recipe) and a behind-the-scenes at more of her daily life before she escaped that contributed to her success.
I am so very proud of Carolyn. Her strength, courage, determination has moved mountains. This was written in 2010 and I crave an update. This should not be happening in the United States.
Is the reading book about survivors lessons after leaving a cult. I think this book explains better than her first book about how she survived and was able to get out of FLDS. Very interesting book.
This book was really interesting. I read her first book escape which was incredible! This one wasn’t quite as put down able but it did shed light on the FLDS
Loved learning more about her life in the FLDS, and the Texas raid on the YFZ Ranch. Felt a little patronized by her turning it into a self-help book, but even some of that was interesting and useful.
