Mercer Mayer is always a favorite with the kids. And this book will be no exception. I'm sure they'll want to compare their experiences with those of Little Critter.

Book Review of Little Critter’s This Is My School

The book Little Critters This Is My School is written by Mercer Mayer and is a child friendly book. This book approaches the topic of school and how Little Critter is so excited for his first day. In the book it shows how he did things throughout his school day.

I most likely recommend this book to younger kids just starting school. It helps them understand that they shouldn’t be scared to start school it is a good experience and they will make lots of new friends to start the school year off with. Some of the best things about school is recess where you get to play with all your friends. “The driver is quiet. But we are not. We are having fun.” Most kids enjoy school and so does little critter.

Mercer Mayer approaches the idea of how heading to school on the first day of can be both exiting and nervous, in the picture book THIS IS MY SCHOOL. Little Critter is going to school on the first day and he seems as if he is going to kindergarten or even a new school. Little Critter seems like he is going to a new school because of how he says he doesn’t know anybody, in the book he said “there are many kids I do not know” and I know that many kids go through the struggle of moving and/or going to different schools and they can share this experience of not knowing anybody.

I would recommend this book to anyone in kindergarten through second grade because of the reading level and word choice that this book shows. Also, I would recommend this book for any primary and/or elementary classroom for lessons or just as a book to read to younger kids.

Little Critter’s Book Review of This is My School by Mercer Mayer

The book This is My School is about a Little Critter’s first day of kindergarten and the things he did in school like, riding the school bus, show and tell, and playing outside, just like many readers do. Little Critter is a very outgoing person and made a lot of new friends. This book shows what Little Critter does in school and how he feels. This book’s text is very simple, perfect for young readers who can understand this book with ease.

I would recommend this book to young children as they get ready for their first day of school. The book has fun illustrations that will make you laugh, and even take you back to old memories if your older like me!

Book review of LITTLE CRITTER’S THIS IS MY SCHOOL by Mercer Mayer

Mercer Mayer approaches the idea that heading to school on the first day can be both exciting and nervous, in the picture book LITTLE CRITTER’S THIS IS MY SCHOOL. Little Critter seems to be going to a new school because he says “I sit at my desk. There are many kids I do not know”
I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone from pre-K to 2nd grade because of the reading level and word choice this book shows.

The story is best for primary students as a read aloud or could be read independently for upper primary students. This would be an excellent book to read aloud to a class on the first day of kindergarten. It is about Little Critter's first day of school and talks about the experiences he had. The illustrations are detailed and fun and engaging.

I really like the part where they got name tags because there is a skunk named Stinky! That's very very funny because skunks are stinky.

In a sweet way the author shows a Little Critter’s first day of school. Of course, his little mouse friend goes along with him.
