Ancients of Light #3

Broken (Ancients of Light) (Volume 3) by Heather J Fleener

Rate this book
The Light’s Duty to Protect A war over the fate of mankind sparked the creation of the Ancients - Light and Dark - one divinely-created guardians, the other hell-spawned killers. The conflict raged within the Realm for millennia, neither faction triumphant in its purpose. In recent history the Darks have adopted a more surreptitious path - the boom of technology allowing the Dark One to insinuate himself into the midst of those he would most like to destroy. Tragic consequences result when the Ancients of Light pursue the Darkness into the Outer Realm. The Prophecy continues…Darkness Claimed Her SoulThe adversity of Kylie’s youth forged an indomitable spirit. A vibrant and strong woman determined to plot the course of her life with room for nothing beyond the next measure of success, Kylie believed in only herself, and most certainly neither destiny nor love. All those tenants were derailed with a single encounter, but the same man that tempted her to live again drew her into the middle of an aged war, the consequence being her own destruction, plummeting her into a hellish existence. A Warrior Haunted by His Failure Sayer’s mission was only to foil the latest plan of the Darks in the Outer Realm and return a few Vampire to Hell. Finding a perfect mortal that tempted him beyond all reason was unforeseen complication. Just when Sayer realizes that his eternity is meant for one alone, Kylie is destroyed by the Darks, and the loss drives him to the pits of despair, revealing events of the past that would best be long forgotten. Tragedy will Reveal Those of Divine PurposeSayer’s appearance in her life was the catalyst to fulfilling a destiny that has existed since Kylie’s creation. Their fate thwarted by Darkness, both shattered by tragedy, Kylie and Sayer must return to the love that once was while finding absolution and seeking forgiveness, or perish apart. Only once all that was broken is returned to unblemished will God’s own Warriors rise. The beginning of the beginning…About the Ancients of Light seriesChosen is the first in the thirteen books of the Ancients of Light series and is only the beginning of a young Witch’s journey toward developing both the strength of character and magic that will be required to fulfill her prophesied role as leader of the Light faction. Revelations of nuances in the Prophecy - facets that were never fully comprehended by the Ancients - will continue in successive stories. The culmination of its true meaning in the destiny of the supernatural world of the Realm will only be revealed when Kaitriana is adequately prepared to lead the Warriors now being called together to champion the Light’s purpose. Familiar characters return for each storyline as the focus turns to a new key couple in every book - a pair that significantly factors into the purpose of Light – however, the story of the Chosen does not end with Book #1. Kaitriana and Lorcan, their growth together as partners in leadership and in love as a couple, will thread through the series as Kaitriana assumes the role that was destined as hers since the beginning.

About the Ancients of Light series
Chosen is the first in the thirteen books of the Ancients of Light series and is only the beginning of a young Witch’s journey toward developing both the strength of character and magic that will be required to fulfill her prophesied role as leader of the Light faction.

About the Author
Heather Fleener lives in Indiana with her husband, D.A. and their twins, Thomas and Alexandra. Professionally she has spent her career working in the area of Intellectual Property law.

Reading has been a passion of hers since she was young and she has been a closet-romance junkie her entire life. The romantic styles of Judith McNaught and Julie Garwood are her inspiration, though she has read and loved the stories of countless other authors. Her fascination with the paranormal began to form at the young age of six, watching late-night ghost and vampire movies with her Grandpa. Unfortunately, as a result, she also remains afraid of the dark to this day.

Combining her love of epic romances and the supernatural was a natural progression for her overactive imagination. When the idea for the Ancients of Light series began, it was an abstract story line rambling around in her head to help kill a few miles on the treadmill. As the stories and plotlines continued to grow, it finally became necessary to put the words to paper and build the characters that had been living in the Realm and having conversations in her head for months.

The series is a testament to many miles on the treadmill and lots of characters that insist on having their stories told.

This is a series review!!!
Series Rating: 4 Stars!!!

I got these books from the author, free of cost, in exchange of an honest review from my side.

Firstly I would like to thank the author and the tour organizers fro giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing these books.

Well as I read the books at a stretch so I'm going to express my thoughts about it in a single review. So, first of all I would like to focus on the story line. Okay so about the story line nothing seemed outstanding to me and the story line wasn't unique but one thing that I liked is that the events that unfolded one by one were new to me and I didn't quite expect any of it to happen so the author succeeded in surprising me every now and then.

Secondly I would like to talk about the amazing writing style of the author, it's fabulous really!!! Thirdly, lets talk about the characters. Well to me most of the characters were quite developed and we got to see different aspects of their personality which really made the read quite interesting.

There is kick-ass action, but-kicking heroine who doesn't whimper and seek others help, she can take care of her own business and I like that!!! The other characters were great too and I liked being a part of their life.

So go for it guys, these books are awesome and I would definitely recommend this series to all others and hope that you guys will love it as well, so enjoy!!!

Book provided by the author.

Another brilliantly written mesmerizing addition to the series. Mrs Fleener's imagination always amazes me and never fails to surprise me.
The plot was fast paced and action packed. It held all of my focus and sucked me into the story. I was sad to see it end.

I loved the characters, the hot protective alpha male, Sayer, and the fierce warrior, Kylie. Their struggle to find each other again and fight through the pain and mistrust.

It was a magical read and I'm chomping a the bit already to get the next one.

I would definitely recommend this series and plan to read it again and again :)

I still love this series, but I didn't feel like Kylie and Sayer had a prominent enough role in their own story. There were so many distractions, that when they finally came together, as a reader, I wasn't sure they were ready. It felt like they only had a quarter - or less- of the book devoted to them and developing their relationship. While I wanted to learn about the rest of the plot lines, I wish they could have waited for a future book, to give Kylie and Sayer the center stage they deserved. I will still wait -impatiently- for the next book of the series, but I hope the future books follow more closely to the format of the first 2.

OMG! Still addicted this series is like a drug you can't get enough of. If there was a story you really would love to step into IT IS THIS ONE! Kylie & Sayer's story will take you on an amazing journey. I'm now waiting on my next fix in the Ancients of Light Series!

Kylie and Sayer are at the forefront of this book and the action only gets better. She’s human yet destined for more. He’s the manwh%#e vamp that had never settled. They’ll each have to walk through fire to get to where they are destined to be. Our other characters don’t take too far of a backseat. The prophesy is still alive and new people are brought forward. It’s another fantastic book in this series.

These books are good but the author really drags them out. Could have been a little less in the details. I like details but get to the point. And I just found out that only 5 books of 16...WHAT?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Continuing the Ancients of Light saga, Broken brings tragedy and redemption to the forefront with Kylie, a mortal thrust into immortal conflict, and Sayer, a warrior haunted by failure. The story explores grief, resilience, and the search for forgiveness within a supernatural war context. The dynamic between flawed characters and the dark forces threatening the Realm adds emotional weight and tension. This entry is powerful for readers who enjoy emotional intensity paired with grand-scale supernatural battles and complex romance.

Amazing series! I have loved what I have read so far! this series is edgy, unique and downright awesome in all areas.

Darkness Claimed Her Soul
Strong, Sassy, Independent business woman Kylie is used to running the show. That is until a overbearing Vampire of light walked into her office, now she can't stop herself from thinking sizzling thoughts and every time they are together she seems to fall all over herself. All those tenants were derailed with a single encounter, but the same man that tempted her to live again drew her into the middle of an aged war, the consequence being her own destruction, plummeting her into a hellish existence.

A Warrior Haunted by His Failure
Slayers mission was to find out what the Dark were up to, falling for the human was not part of his plans.Just when Sayer realizes that his eternity is meant for one alone, Kylie is destroyed by the Darks, and the loss drives him to the pits of despair, revealing events of the past that would best be long forgotten.

Tragedy will Reveal Those of Divine Purpose
Sayer’s appearance in Kaylie's life was the catalyst to fulfilling a destiny that has existed since Kylie’s creation. Their fates both shadowed by darkness and tragedy they must find absolution, and love again before it is to late. Only once all that was broken is returned to unblemished will God’s own Warriors rise. The beginning of the beginning…

Wow,I loved Kylie and Sayer's story! Actually I have loved the first two couples' stories too but I think this one is my favorite so far.Though we may not have been through the extent of the pain and torment that Kylie has endured,I believe we call all relate to her on some level. Kylie and Sayer have to work through so much pain and torment from the past while trying to live in the present in hopes of having a future together. Their story is about loss, heartache, torment, betrayal, vengeance, friendship, trust, and forgiveness.
Kylie is trapped in darkness of no fault of her own but her actions while she was plagued with this darkness still grapples at her soul to once more pull her under. She must find a way to overcome her pain and forgive herself or risk the chance of loosing a new beginning,a mate who desperately loves her,and friends who care for her.I totally love the Realm and wished I could live in it as Heather does in her mind but I did end up having dreams of the Realm.Heather has created a unique world where Witch and Vampire fight together. There are those who prefer to live in the Dark believing one day their endeavors will prevail over the Light. While the Light does its best to thwart the attacks of the Dark and fulfill a prophecy in hopes of putting an end to the Dark. The Rise of the Queens has begun and now is the "The Beginning of the Beginning".

I really liked this one of the 3 books so far I felt like it brought all the characters together and made for a really great read. I Completely fell in love with this series from book 1 but, book 3 has completely won me over. Which like the first 2 is a journey of each of the Queens story to tell this one combines them both and introduces us to Kylie/Callie who in fact was turned and had a hole BUNCH of dark magic in her, that is made her super crazy. That's okay because in the end everything works out just fine.

Addictive

This magical world that Heather Fleener has created is totally addictive. Once I started this series I really could not put it down and I now find myself anxiously waiting on the release of Mistaken. I think what I have enjoyed the most is the development of the female leads in this series, they are totally kickass and do not rely on the men in their lives to take care of them, not to mention their sarcastically humorous dialog and approach to certain situations. Broken is somewhat longer than the first two books in the series but totally worth the read as the characters continue to develop and new players are introduced as the prophecy begins to unfold and the battle between the Light and the Dark heats up. Can't wait to read what happens next.

Finally ... I knew Fleener had it in her. This story knocked it out of the park. Absolutely loved the character of Kylie, "Crazykins". Fleeners' writing was just as well done, but what really stood out in this story was the character development and the journey of each, especially Kylie, Sayer, Kaitrianna and Mauve. The pain that Kylie had to experience, and how her and Callie's history drove her to be woho she became and how it influenced her action was perfectly, and poignantly well done. This is a series I am going to enjoy following. In my last two reviews I compared Ancients of light to Feehan's Dark series. AoL is progressing beyond that and can't wait to see where Fleener goes with it.

Broken, this is where we finally get a close up and personal look at Kylie and Sayer. This is also where we see a turn about. Kylie being the dark and tortured soul and Sayer doing all he can to help her.
Kylie's story was one that really tugged at my heart and reading her was so engrossing that I had to make this one personal.
There is a lot going on in this third book that has to do with many other plot lines in the story as well and I really don't want to spoil anything so I will just end this review by saying
READ THIS SERIES NOW!

Enchanting

I love how confident, headstrong, and silly all these females are. They have a great ability to do what needs to be done but still have fun doing it and take great enjoyment of the little things. The story again overlaps with the first one but in a way that gives a broader view. I must say it was very well written. I was enchanted by it and look forward to the next book.

This is a pretty jam packed book filling gaps and adding more intrigue to the prophesies.
At first it was a bit tricky to get my head around timeline of the story at the start but once I had it worked out was very enjoyable and helped understand some of the reactions and interactions.that happened in the last 2 books.
It's very hard to talk about this book without writing about spoilers to what has happened in this story so will simply say its a must read and you wont be disappointed!
