Gone: A Novel

Rate this book
Disillusioned with his marriage to the controlling Ursula and shattered by his sister’s death, young Stephen leaves Dublin for New York. Quickly swept up in an affair with Holfy, a fiercely independent woman fifteen years his senior, Stephen finds himself divided between his new life and his past. And as his obsessive, intensely erotic bond with Holfy begins to fray, Stephen’s dislocation intensifies, leaving him to face an unraveling identity and longing for a home that no longer seems to exist.

I took a class with Martin at NYU and he was excellent, as is this novel. I look forward to more writing from him.

Interesting introspective novel about a man who doesn't seem that fun to be around, whether one is a woman or not.
