USA Today Bestselling author, Shelley lives in Auckland, New Zealand with her husband and a rambunctious puppy.
Typical New Zealanders, Shelley and her husband left home for their big OE soon after they married (translation of New Zealand speak - big overseas experience). A year long adventure lengthened to six years of roaming the world. Enduring memories include being almost sat on by a mountain gorilla in Rwanda, lazing on white sandy beaches in India, whale watching in Alaska, searching for leprechauns in Ireland, and dealing with ghosts in an English pub.
While travel is still a big attraction, these days Shelley is most likely found in front of her computer following another love - that of writing stories of romance and adventure. Other interests include watching rugby and rugby league (strictly for research purposes), being walked by the dog, and curling up with a good book.
Heroine is celibate for 2 years, since the death of her husband. Hero decides he’ll mate heroine at heroine’s husbands funeral but moves away to give her time to get over her husband and get ready to move on. HE is in love with her. HE is sure he’ll pursue her. HE is SURE she is THE ONE and HAS DECIDED he’ll mate her yet he keeps on sleeping around for this two years. I don’t even care about heroine’s married years. But the two years that he’s been supposedly “waited” for the heroine he waited with his dick inside someone else because “he likes sex” and he was mad at the implications heroine may have had other sexual partners to a point he actually physically hurt her! Ummm....NO!
Okay I am seriously serial reading now. This is really a fast reading series and I am already started in book 8. Love the shifters, the story and the steaming romance.
Lana is a feline shapeshifter and widow. She wants a night with someone to scratch an itch. That someone will be Duncan, who is a rodeo cowboy and gorgeous. She is a widow of two years and beautiful. She needs some action. Two big cats. Action in the woods. A dance. Finally, a bed. A night of passion. Romance. A farm. A bag of toys. Another woman. A terrible misunderstanding. What a wonderful story once again.

Duncan is astonished when Lana propositions him. He thought he lost his chance with her when his cousin claimed her as his mate before he could introduce himself to her. He wants forever with Lana and she only wants a weekend with Duncan. Lana was hurt by her husband and his demands she give up her career and have children. She believes all shifter males will act the same way. Duncan uses everything in his arsenal to convince her he cares and loves her, including all the sex she can handle.

I thought that the tension between Lana and Duncan was awesome. The plot was similar to the first book, Scarlet Woman as Lana is a widow who's now skittish of men because her husband turned into a jerk. It was different because Lana is a shapeshifter and Emily was just a human.
I really liked Duncan and thought he was a great guy, patient and understanding with Lana and willing to take advice from others on his courtship. Lana was great she was a career woman who didn't dismiss children but wanted to wait until she had a better handle on things.
This seventh installment of the Middlemarch series features Lana and Duncan. They are connected to the core Mitchell family by the fact that Lana and Emily are good friends that both run restaurants. Lana has lost her first mate and is afraid to mate again. She fears the dominance of mist male feline shifters. While this story didn't really contain much drama, it was an interesting read. While the Jennifer and Richard characters were peripheral, they did add a hint of drama. All in all this is still a series that ensures a good read.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Right from the start I have loved this series and this one more than builds on that. I know when I start that I'm going to get an interesting story with believable individuals in (almost) real life situation in a well written story. This was no exception. What I love is that it doesn't matter how many of these books you've already read, each character is unique while still maintaining contact with familiar characters & that helps to build the Middlemarch community. Loved the touch of sadness in this story to make the happiness more precious.
Another page turner in the Middlemarch series! This one is more of a straight-forward romance - Lana wants to 'scratch an itch' and Duncan has been in love with her for years. This 7th book in the series is a light, fun read with plenty of steam, witty dialogue, and great characters. We also get more of Saber's dry humor and Emily's snark which is always a treat! This series is fast becoming one of my go-to binge reads.
Our heroine is plain ole horny and not shy about asking for what she wants and what she wants is our hero but only temporarily. Our hero on the other hand let her get away once before and has no plans to do so again. What he learns though is she is gun shy and he'll have to play the long game to convince her this is real.
Take a stubborn and independent woman and put her together with a determined and equally stubborn man and you get fireworks! This book is a fun and sexy read that is sure to please. Loved it!!!
