Tahlia and Alex are now officially one of my favourite book characters. I could stop smiling at all. During the entire book Alex was so sweet and understanding, agreeing to have a fake relationship which turned into Marriage of convince with Tahlia so she could get her inheritance.
I read Doctor Taylor earlier this year, so was really excited to hear that Alex would be getting his story and it was with Tahlia! Tahlia has finally had enough of working at the coffee shop and being treated like dirt. She quit on the spot, and is ready for a change. She’d really like to enter the family business that she could own 60% of… but she needs to be married in order to take claim to it. After a few run in’s with Alex, Tahlia basically blurts out will you marry me to him.. and he agrees.
The pair have incredible chemistry, and I really love that Tahlia comes into her character more in this book. Alex has never truly felt love, so when his feelings start to actually grow for Tahlia it is very difficult for him to understand. He really tries to distance himself from her - specifically in a physical way, despite Tahlia trying to seduce him in multiple ways.
Ultimately the pair gives into their desires and their relationship goes from fake to real. Sometimes things are a little grey while they work out if they are “acting” or not, and Tahlia retreats back to her apartment when she feels scared for advice from her friends. Alex consistently had to grow to accept and give love, and sometimes that came with him lashing out or retreating inside himself when this happened. The two of them really pushed one another but also stood by each other when they could.
I have read all of sharon's books and I loved them all but this was my favourite. I really loved Alex and his obsession with Thalia was amazing . Officially, Alex is my new book boyfriend.
I positively loved this book and this couple. I mean seriously Ms. Woods wrote this story perfectly. Alex and Tahlia were a puzzle that I needed to piece together. Alex was broken and Tahlia was lost. I can't say enough about this couple or this book. I have read and liked Ms. Woods's writing and have enjoyed it but this book tops them all. This couple was everything. This book is about discovery, self-love, and falling in love. I highly suggest this book and this author.
I have read every book buy this author. Her books. Are amazing. But I think this one the more emotional. an amazing author she puts her heart in to her books. Alex loves his job as a doctor. but there is no woman in his life he loves and leaves them. He jealous that his brother has the love that he can't feel. Tahila is just. Coping with life she hates her job. and just has her friends for her. Tahila is best friends with Alexs's sister-in-law. and they have just had a baby. And she literally bumps into Alex. She has always had a crush on him. But she knows he a player. I don't want to give the story away. but it's so dam good and very emotional. I had tears. I so recommend this author.
👨🏻⚕️ Alex is a neurosurgeon by day, and a playboy one-night stand addict by night. He is the brother to Mike (a hero from a previous book).
☕️ Tahlia starts off as a coffee shop barista that quits her job of several years after getting yelled at by her boss for burning a customers coffee. She is bff to Alice (heroine from a previous book).
Tahlia has mommy and daddy issues, feels like she’s always disappointing them. She feels like she is aimless in life. So she decides (finally) that she wants the 60% share that she’s entitled to of the family business. Only hook is, according to grandpa’s will, she needs to be married by 25 yrs old to receive her share.
So this starts the idea of a fake engagement, then fake marriage btwn Alex and Tahlia.
I absolutely love fake marriage plots… but this rendition was just Meh for me. I actually DNF at 50% - I did not even make it to them having sex OR getting married. I just became too tired of their wishy-washiness.
The hero Alex was just too loving and caring right from the start. I think this story would have been a whole lot better had he been a bit more grumpy. And he is written as being conflicted about not touching our heroine because he is determined love is just not for him (one of those guys!).
The heroine was annoying as hell because she was so hot and cold with wanting him to kiss her and/or shutting him down. One of her rules for the fake engagement was ‘no sex or hooking up’… yet she can’t make up her mind whether to stick to it or not. 😒
So many scenes that were total let downs (might be spoilers coming up here!) For example… in the beginning they dance together at a dance club. It had such great potential to start building much needed sexual tension, but the heroine gets standoffish and shuts it down too quickly before any chemistry progresses.
Then! After moving in to the hero’s house (so her parents believe they are actually engaged), the hero runs a warm bath for her, he leaves the room, she disrobes and gets in the bathtub, he returns with a glass of wine for her… walks up to the tub to hand her the glass, proceeds to have normal conversation all while she is laying there buck naked in the water. Absolutely nothing comes from that scene. No awkwardness, no talking about it later. So weird.
She starts getting offended that he’s ‘obviously not attracted to her’ so she opts to then skinny dip in the backyard pool. He comes home, finds her and decides to join her, he decides to maybe try to cop a feel but work calls him away too soon. End of scene.
Lastly, the poor guy is so frustrated that when he comes home from work one day and finds the house empty, he runs to his bedroom in excitement to go play with himself and blow off some steam. At some point he opens his eyes, she’s standing there in the doorway, silently watching him in awe, that then throws him over the edge with him screaming her name as he finishes. Result? Heroine smirks and walks away, end of scene, never to be talked about again.
I was like what?! This is NOT a good slow burn build up for the reader. Everything felt hot and cold, incomplete, missed opportunities in building sexual chemistry… I lost all interest in their HEA with all of the let down interactions and lousy slow burn. ☹️
I’m always looking for the next great marriage of convenience. I’m such a sucker for this trope. Especially when you toss in superior mirco-tropes. Like, he’s a playboy. And his brother is married to her best friend. And he’s successful and she’s kinda lost. But the top tier micro-trope for this one? She hesitated to ask, but he didn’t hesitate to say yes! Alex just jumped right on in there! And I loved him for it! I enjoyed every moment we got with playboy Alex in his brother’s book. So it was even more enjoyable getting to see a woman bring him to his knees. And I mean that literally as well. I was obsessed with Alex and Tahlia from the first chapter. Like, giddy kicking my feet kinda obsessed! They frazzled each other, and it made me so damn happy! Alex and Tahlia built an unexpected friendship. They shared their fears and faults. The dark, heavy things that they’re afraid to voice out loud. He takes care of her, he’s the ideal fiance/husband instantly. That’s just who he is. Caring, thoughtful, generous, attentive. But with Tahlia, he turns that dial up ALL the way!
My Favorite Quotes: • “You’re too f!cking good for me.” • “Watch me touch you.” • “I still want you.” • “Do you know how badly I want to throw you on this bed, spread you wide, and f!ck you until you're screaming my name?” • “I want to be able to see you take me deep into your mouth and swallow me.” • “Eyes up. I need to see your eyes as I come down your throat.” • “Watch me eat you. Like the best meal I’ve had in years.” • “I want you to mark me. It would be an honor to wear scratches from you.” • “It’s a you thing.” • “My person.” • “Tell me you’re mine.” • “That ring on your finger is to tell them you’re mine.” • “I only have eyes for you.” • “Let me love all of you. • “Let me worship you.” • “Kneeling for you is my greatest pleasure.”

Lies lead to more lies until it all falls apart. Doctor Alex Taylor loves being a Doctor, in fact; most of his family are Doctors working at the same hospital. His family’s very close. Alex is a great guy he just has major commitment issues, he thinks he has no heart. Tahlia Adams is floundering. Her bossy parents forced her to take a major she wasn’t interested in so she dropped out of college, and they disinherited her. She just quit her awful job in a coffee house. To top that off her mom called to remind her that if she’s not married by her 25th birthday (she’s 24 years) she will lose her 60 % interest in the family business and she’ll have nothing. Emerald Designs is the family business her Grandfather started. It’s a successful clothing design shop and Tahlia finally realizes that she wants to style and design clothing. She can’t just walk away from the business. Upset Tahlia runs into the gorgeous, got-his-life-together Dr. Alex Taylor and she shares her problems. Alex has been attracted to Tahlia for a long time so he’s happy to help the little beauty. He offers to move her in with him, and fake date, be fake engaged, and then fake married. It’s damn near impossible to keep the lies straight and secret, then when the lies are uncovered all hell breaks loose. With everything in flames, Alex and Tahlia realize they actually have fallen in love and choose to marry. The ending is wonderful. Alex is an awesome hottie and his family is fantastic. Tahlia starts out lost soul but with Alex’s help finds her true passion. I received a free advanced copy of this story from Bookfunnel and these are my thoughts. Linda
Alex Taylor is a neurologist and the brother of Mike Taylor. Tahlia is the best friend of Alice. Alice and Mike's story is Doctor Taylor! Being who they are to Mike and Alice, Alex and Tahlia have had some run ins. The arrival of Mike and Alice's baby is what has them bumping into each other this time.
Alex is living the bachelor life and thinks he is always going to be a bachelor because when he is with someone, there are no additional feelings for that person. His one night stands are just that.
Tahlia has had enough of working at a coffee shop and realizes she wants more. More being her share in the Family Design business. One catch, her Grandfather put in his will that in order for her to obtain her shares, she needs to be married at 25. Same day she decides this, her mother calls to remind her and Tahlia decides to tell her she has a boyfriend name Alex. She then bites the bullet, calls Alex and without so much of a fight, he agrees....agrees to not only be her boyfriend but fiancé.
I loved Alex. Even though he though he was broken, he was so far from that! From the beginning of their "fake" relationship, he acted like what a model boyfriend/husband should be. He was caring, charming and most of all supportive.
Sharon knows how to write a slow burn! Sheesh! She had zoned it because the tension between these two was steamy. They had chemistry! Hands down!!! Alex's push from acting on what he was feeling. Tahlia's actions to get Alex to break was entertaining. I enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it!
My Thoughts- Tahlia is tired of working at the coffee shop she has worked at for years, so she is ready to finally take her 60% share holder in the family business. The only problem? In order to claim her stake, she must be married by her 25th birthday, which is only a few months away. So in a conversation with her mother, she blurts out that she is dating Alex, her best friend’s brother-in-law, and also a major playboy. Tahlia explains to Alex what she told her mom, and he instantly agrees to help her. Tahlia and Alex had instant chemistry, in my opinion. I would categorize them as a friends-to-lovers trope. I love when a guy asks the girl to promise not to fall in love with them. Instant swoon, and challenge accepted. I usually lose interest in a romance when the main characters finally kiss, but I didn’t in this one! The author kept my interest all the way to the very end. And I am not one for a lot of spice, and this book had a few scenes that were tastefully done, but it still isn’t my favorite thing to read. To each their own. I think this is a great start to a cute series by Sharon Woods, and I can’t wait to read the next one. I would rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars, and would recommend it to people who love a sweet story with quite a bit of spice. BONUS- it is on Kindle Unlimited!
Yay 🤩 I mean, I knew this book was Alex's book, but with Tahlia? That made it even better 😁
Alex is sooo cute. He is the absolute playboy. And now? Just WOW. My heart broke multiple times. He wants Tahlia. He wants her so much. But at the same time, he thinks he's not capable of a relationship. He thinks he would hurt her, and he never wants to hurt her 😭 But he's such a golden retriever. And I thought Mike was, noooo, Alex is even more. It's so crazy, I know. The combination of playboy and golden retriever, but the Taylor men are just that 🥰
I love the "I need to be married to get an inheritance" trope. Most of the time, it's the MMC who needs to be married, here it's Tahlia. She wasn't actually interested in her family's business, but her life changed, and she wants it now. She's like Alex, just that it's not the relationship part she thinks she isn't capable of, but the business part.
The tension between them, ooooh 😯 Sooo strong. And the teasing 😎 It's 🔥 even though nothing happens 🤣 But when it finally happened, puh... It's even more 🥵 Alex has a very dirty mouth 😎
Unfortunately, there isn't another Taylor brother, but at least there is a co-worker 😁
I absolutely love Sharon books, if you haven’t read her, what ya doing? Another quick, easy, beautiful, fun and steamy read. Tahlia and Alex meet at her best friends wedding, the sparks flew and then a year later they come crashing back into each others life’s. Alex is a playboy through and through, but he’s also the most caring, sweet, genuine man and very swoony. Tahlia seems so lost at the beginning but when we get more into the story her and know her she’s has so much determination and sass, was cheering for her the whole time. One of my favourite things about the story is both of the MCs character growth especially Alex, it was really well done. The slow burn was an absolute killer but so worth it in the end, they balance each other out so well and watching them fall in love I just couldn’t stop smiling.
Fake Relationship. Age Gap. Forced Proximity. Alex is a notorious playboy. His romantic life is nothing but one-night stands. Tahlia has had enough of her current situation, working at a coffee shop. She decides she wants her inheritance. The only problem is that she has to be married to get it. Tahlia and Alex enter a fake engagement. Can they convince everyone that they are in love while remaining just friends? This is my first book by Sharon Woods. While it is obvious Alex and Tahila have met in another one of her books, I was not lost without reading any of the other books. I loved how attentive Alex was to Tahlia. I wish my other half would give me massages like Alex did Tahila! Watching Tahlia grow into her business persona was also nice to witness. I will be reading more of Sharon Wood’s books. This was the perfect slow burn with a happy ending.
Being that this is was my very first time reading one of Sharon’s books I was honestly not really sure what to expect. But Doctor I Do was just the change I was looking for . I mostly read dark themed romances so it’s not often I get to enjoy a feel good love story that has the ability to make smile the entire way through. Not to mention laugh out loud and keep me rooting so freaking hard . Well Alex and Thalias journey did just that and so much more . Fake relationship and Marriage of convenience, angst, humor , witty banter , passion , love , heartbreaking and heartfelt moments, fun , sexy , unforgettable and unputdownable, family , friendships, unexpected surprises and characters that are so wonderfully written you cannot stop yourself from becoming 100% invested.
- Fake engagement - Age Gap - Slow burn - Friends to lovers
I was excited when I was asked to ARC read this one as I love a good fake engagement/marriage of convenience trope. But unfortunately I struggled a bit. Full transparency, I read this one thinking it was supposed to be a standalone, but after I finished I realized that Alex's brother has a story called Doctor Taylor and that Alex and Tahlia are introduced in that story. I feel I would have enjoyed this story more had I read that one prior since I did like the authors writing style. It just all felt rushed since I didn't know much about the characters.
I voluntarily received an eARC for Doctor I Do and these thoughts are my own honest opinions.
ARC reader review: A fantasy love story of a doctor and a woman who needs to get married to get her dream career through her inheritance. They started out being friends with obvious sexual attraction. The progression of the relationship is beautiful yet frustrating in ways. It’s definitely a slow burn but once you get to the spice, it doesn’t stop. Spice level 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. The story starts slow. Towards the middle it starts picking up. Overall a good story with a happy ending. I found a couple errors, but nothing that distracts from the story. Keywords: Slow burn, friends to lovers
A nice read. Two likeable characters with sexual chemistry. However, too many holes in the story for me. Obvious ones include meeting the parents. Surely Tahlia would have met the parents at Mikes wedding. Alex would not have needed to buy the business if they married as planned. Legally 60% would have been hers due to the inheritance (arranged or not) - her parents were arranging a marriage for her anyway.
Alex and Tahila. A perfect read once again from this author, to pull at your heart strings. After Doctor Taylor this was just perfect, leaving flutters in your tummy. The chemistry is so amazing, I loved it all.
Another great book from Sharon! Alex and Tahlia have sizzling chemistry together and realize over time how well they match after a marriage of convenience starting off as friends. Really enjoyed this book, it might just be my favourite so far! ARC received and reviewed.
Good story of love and fear, Alex fear that he I damaged and unlovable. Tal fear of not being loved by Alex. Both have a lot of fears to over come, such a good tale showing that men are not always in control.
Good storyline but poor grammar and messy writing. Could have been better if a better editor was used. Also quite cheesy to begin with and a bit far fetched. Enjoyable read nonetheless the less
The story was predictable but enjoyable if you want something easy to read. I read the first book in the series and events from that one are referred to in this one. But the timelines aren't consistent. The author needs a better editor.
Alex is my kind of man! I loved his self discovery on self love for him to freely love Tahlia. The spice 🌶️🌶️ just perfection. It is a great book read to escape the world.
