Maude Barrow smokes too much, drinks Wild Turkey, and desperately needs a job. When she sees a classified ad for a nanny in the wealthy Munford home, she fakes her resume and references, lies her way into the position, and seems to have it made. . . until they ask her to sign a contract with a mysterious, ominous clause. A GOOD NANNY is a 4,000 word horror short story.
A GOOD NANNY is a great read I like how the author explains the character in the story, and how she was living. At times I was smiling because of how the author explain who Miss Borrow is,in which she is the main character in the book.I also like how author Barbara House gave you just a little bit to keep you reading on to see what becomes of the story, and of Miss Borrow. When reading a book some times you think you know how the story is going to end,and then when you get there it's totally completely the opposite of what you thought.Well this book is kind of like that, well for me it was.It was like you can't put you finger on it, and it's like it's on tip of your tongue of what the book is about, but you can't get it for the life of ya. As you (the reader) read this book don't speculate of what's going to happen in the book like I did because when you get to the end, you'll be surprise.I know I was.Over all excellent read,a nice short story I'm looking foreward to more of Author Barbara House, books.
For a short story the main character Maude is well-developed. I like short stories that get their point across and can hold the reader's interest and this one doesn't disappoint. What was it about the contract that she was given her just deserts?
