Joseph Gordon-Levitt is an American actor whose career as both a child and adult has included television series and theatrical films.
He is known for his roles in the 2009 indie 500 Days of Summer (for which he earned a Golden Globe nomination), a supporting role in the 2010 science fiction film Inception, and for starring in the 2011 drama 50/50. Beginning in commercials as a young child, he made his film debut in 1992's Beethoven. Gordon-Levitt subsequently co-starred in the television sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun (1996–2001) as the young Tommy Solomon.
After a hiatus during which he attended Columbia University, Gordon-Levitt left television for film acting, appearing in films like 10 Things I Hate About You (1999) and Manic (2001), followed by critically acclaimed performances in 2004's Mysterious Skin, 2005's Brick, and 2007's The Lookout.
He runs an online collaborative production company called HitRECord. —Wikipedia
Darkly enchanting & mesmerizing. I didn't know what hitrecord.org was - or that it was that collective who created the book - until I noticed the credits at the back. Now I want to find and read all of these Tiny Books. It took me approx. 20 minutes to read the whole thing, leisurely. Will read again, for sure.
The stories are a bit bleaker/sadder, the images a bit rougher, and the collection feels not-quite-cohesive... but that's all in comparison to the absolutely beautiful and amazing Volume 1 that came out last year. This is like the rough draft version of the collection and it's still a wonderful little conversation piece. It just isn't as wonderful as the next one, if that's not too harsh to say.
A really easy read. A small but powerful book with many meaningful messages. This book is a product of collaboration featuring 45 contributors from 2,312 contributions. So glad that Hitrecord.org, founded and directed by actor and artist Joseph Gordon Levitt, provided a platform where anyone with an internet connection could work on projects collaboratively like this book. Could not wait to read the rest of the series. This is truly amazing. Very impressive work. Highly recommended.
I loved the poem on page 40 terribly so. The rest were fine too, with quaint art to go along with it. I wonder what poems made it into volume one that did not make it into the original 2010 cut. (Had to say…These books are made on such lovely quality paper too. At least, from the release of the original Hit record box.)
Adorable. A great little book to have sitting on a table, maybe near something more interesting, in case someone isn't looking for something quite that interesting and instead wants to go on a tiny literary adventure.
