MIA
He's making me an offer I can't refuse.

When I'm offered a job—by my most difficult customer at my waitressing gig—as his assistant, I thought it would be simple.

I never expected to agree, to say yes.

But I needed the money.

And I needed the time to work on my art.

What I didn't prepare for was slowly but surely becoming the center of my boss's attention.

He's sexy and strong, but he's insufferable and impatient.

He's gorgeous and cocky and full of himself.

He's always right, even when he's wrong.

But he just might be the one…

----

DEREK
I'm desperately trying to avoid the worst business decision of my life.

When I ask Mia Kamaka to be my assistant, and she accepts, I'm a little too happy.

She's beautiful.

I want to do a lot for her.

But many burdens lie ahead.

We can't continue on this path.

Well, maybe we can.

But here's the What if there's a better path?

Genre ~ billionaire romance
Series ~ Seattle CEO #1
Others in the series ~ Rival to the Billionaire, Nanny for the Billionaire
Setting ~ Seattle
Publication date ~ March 17, 2023
Est page Count ~ 322 (29 chapters +e)
POV ~ dual 1st
Featuring ~ debut, billionaire, slow burn, workplace romance, minimal steamage

Mia & Derek meet when she's a waitress at his favorite Italian restaurant. He's always been a bit of a rude customer, which we don't really see and are just told about. She's not the best waitress really and after a particularly tough night she walks out on her shift and they go bar hopping together. He's enthralled with her right away and offers her a job as his assistant in his publishing company.

I like when my billionaires are not overly billionairey, and Derek is just that and doesn't flash his money all around the place. Yes he has a driver and drives a Lambo himself and buys her wardrobe, but that's pretty much it. He's in the midst of a scandal that could prove dire to his business.

Mia has trouble trusting after a difficult breakup with her cheating fiance. Her true passion is photography and she has her eye on a very pricey camera, so she needs money quickly so she can enter a contest. She accepts Derek's job offer, but also has another one on the line that could make things messy, and oh boy does it, which wasn't surprising in the least.

I liked Derek's friendship with his right hand woman and childhood best friend, Jenny, who will star in the next installment with Derek's brother, Ryder. We get a glimpse of how their story is going to be full on enemies to lovers.

My few niggles:
~ excessive use of the full name of the publishing company and Derek
~ Christina (Tina), why name her Christina if she's only going to call her Tina?
~ speaking of Tina she goes on and on about Mia's use of crystals

I did enjoy it, but they were a bit frustrating to me. I know they both have issues from their past that makes them apprehensive, but I needed them to figure themselves out a lot quicker than they did, which would have helped me feel their chemistry better. Overall, this is a solid debut, though.

This is a perfect solid 3-star 🌟 read. I really liked the plot and how the story was told from both Derek and Mia's perspective. The writing was easy to read and to follow along with.
Mia wants to be a photographer more than anything, but right now, she's a waitress trying to make ends meet. She is saving for a photo contest that just might help her get her dream. However, for that, she needs to take whatever job she's offered, which could include spying on her new boss.
Derek is the head of his publishing company and knows everything there is to know about business. In fact, he's so good that he doesn't know when to stop. He meets Mia one night at his favorite Italian restaurant, where she spills drinks on him. He can't stop thinking about her, so he asks her to be his new assistant.
I think this was a different take on the office romance that could work well for some and not for others. As for me, I liked it enough to read the next book in the series.

Thank you to Eve Madison for providing me with an ebook copy of Match for the Billionaire for me to read and review. What an addictive story! I was immediately sucked into the characters world and did not want to put this book down! Match for the Billionaire is filled with an interesting, entertaining plot, great characters, and just the right amount of spicy, sexy adult activities. I loved the strong, sassy attitude of the female main character and the incredible growth that she goes through gaining back her confidence. The male main characters past and challenges are different, but the growth he also went through parallels hers beautifully. Madison also pulled off a couple of excellent twists that I didn't predict and she dropped a couple of well placed red herrings into the story to draw readers minds in one direction before turning them right around when the twist is dropped. Definitely can't wait to read the next one in the series!

I can’t believe no one addressed the many grammatical issues in this book. There are so many inconsistencies, not just in the storyline, but in some of the same paragraphs. This was a difficult book to read. I found myself backing up and rereading so many times thinking it was just me. By the middle of the book, I gave up and just tried to finish. Look at my highlights for examples if you are able to see them.

Match for the Billionaire is the first in the series and also the first book that I have read by Eve Madison.

The dialogue between Mia and Derek felt a bit choppy to me. At times I felt that I could tell from the way Mia spoke that she was a strong, independent woman but then she would come across as weak when she spoke to him. It was hard to get a read on who she was as a character because she flip flopped back and forth.. I found that there was no real consistency. I also felt that some of the conversations and details felt almost forced. There were times where I just found it hard to follow..

Overall, I found that the plot definitely has potential but it was a bit predictable (could be from all the romance books I've read though!). I give it three stars because I definitely like the concept, I just think it could use some developing.

Match for the Billionaire by Eve Madison is a great, quick getaway read. It's fun, steamy and quite entertaining. Madison did a great job introducing us to Mia and Derek, the main protagonists who had us hooked from the start. Their connection and that "falling in love" feeling were written well.

The characters are good, and although they do have that "romance book" quality, it added to the charm. You can't help but enjoy their antics. Although there were moments when the writing got a tad confusing, and the dialogue felt a bit off. Like that scene in the car after meeting with Scott Disick - I won't spoil it, promise - but let's just say it got my head spinning for a second. Thankfully, it all worked out fine and didn't pull me from the story too much.

The story itself is like watching a move or tv show. It's got the cute factor going for it. There is no clear-cut protagonist, just two people falling for each other when they don't know if they should be.

Romance is definitely Madison's game, and if you're after something cute, fun and totally engaging, then look no further. Give Match for the Billionare a shot, and you won't be disappointed.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the Author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Match for the Billionaire by Eve Madison is a fast-paced smoking romance.

Will Mia and Derek allow their hearts to love again?

Mia Kamaka
Mia is our heroine. She is new to Seattle and trying to earn enough money for a professional camera. Mia dreams of being a professional photographer. So, she is working at an Italian restaurant until she can make it.

I like Mia. She lives the whole fake it until you make it motto. She has been hurt by love before and isn't sure if she can trust Derek. But with the help of her friends, she takes the leap.

Derek Anderson
Our hero is Derek Anderson, aka Mr. Blue Eyes. He is the CEO of a big publishing company in Seattle, where he grew up. Derek was recently tricked in the love department and has some serious trust issues. His family and friend, Jenny, are very close. He likes to keep it close knit.

Derek comes across as mysterious because he is quiet and serious. It took me a bit to warm up to him. He is kind but standoffish, always being aloof. By the end of the book, I thought he was OK.

The Romance
Their romance was steamy. They are definitely into public displays of affection. It actually goes way past the whole acceptable PDA. The story is well paced, with lots of steam, but I felt a few things weren't fully plotted. So, while reading it, I was questioning if I had missed something and would stop and go back a few pages to see if I did miss something. It could totally be me, but I wanted to know the back story of the Andersons, and how Mia and Christina ended up in Seattle.

Three Stars
My rating for Match for the Billionaire by Eve Madison is three stars. I love a good romance, but I feel that the story needs to be as important as the smut. As this is the first book that Ms. Madison has written, I am sure that her writing will improve. She has a wonderful premise, and I think each of the following books will be better and better.

Thank you for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed this review of Match for the Billionaire by Eve Madison.

I liked the idea behind this book but it was just an ok story. Or as I usually call them, this was a solid goldilocks story. The romance wasn't anything to flashy. The plot was simple but still sweet and charming. And the writing was good, it kept me reading. It was an all around decent story.

The book is laid out in 2 perspectives, Mia's and Derek's. The majority of the time you are looking through Mia's POV. But getting to take a peak in Derek's POV was quite fun. I love it when stories give you both sides. That could just come from me being noisy, but being able to read from both MCs is always a lot of fun for me. Derek's story seemed a bit more laid out than Mia. He has a more developed personal background; as well as, a clear drive for what he wants with his company and for himself. Even has clear character flaws that make sense with this business forward thinking he has taken on as he has gotten older. You can tell the author really enjoyed writing his parts of the story. I know that Derek's POV were the parts that I liked the most and almost wished we stayed in his perspective the entire time (or the majority of the time). However, I will say that his interest in Mia is a bit shallow. He's interested in her looks almost exclusively. But I can look past this flaw being that it is a straight forward romance story.

Alright, enough about the characters, what else is there for the story? You can see exactly what the climax/drama point is going to be for the characters pretty early on in this one. As soon as Mia is technically looking for new employment after leaving the waitress job (basically the beginning of the book), 2 offers are given and you can tell why they'd be conflicting as soon as you hear them listed (gotta read to find out why though!). It made me give a pretty big eye roll, because it was almost on the excessive side of being obvious and kind of made the rest of the story go "ehh". However, I still wanted to see the drama unfold. Spill the tea Gurl and pass me some popcorn because I live for that drama! And this certainly had the drama going for it. There is a leaked story of Derek's past that brought to light something his own cousin did to him. Mia and Derek trying to keep their hands to themselves - hehe! Mia and the job conflicts that are happening. As for the romance, I'd say some of the scenes were a tad risky! This is a solid 3 on the 5 pepper scale. It was certainly spicy! Then when they were getting to the trusting/loving section of the story, it was turning so incredibly sweet. Happy sighs for the happy couple.

For me, "Match for the Billionaire" by Eve Madison is a romance that falls short in several critical areas.

The book's premise centres around Derek, a billionaire businessman, who hires Mia, a clumsy waitress, as his assistant. Unfortunately, the motivation behind this hiring decision remains puzzling throughout the story. Derek's reasoning seems flimsy at best, as it's suggested that her hiring might be solely based on her looks. This does a disservice to the character and raises concerns about Derek's credibility as a businessman. The lack of a substantial reason for Mia's employment makes it difficult for me to connect with the story's premise.

Mia's character, despite being portrayed as clumsy, lacks any significant internal conflict related to the relationship. This absence of depth makes her character one-dimensional and difficult to empathise with. As a reader, I yearn for multi-faceted characters who grapple with genuine dilemmas that add emotional depth to the narrative.

Furthermore, the claim that Mia is "the best assistant in publishing" within a week of being hired seems implausible and diminishes her credibility. It would have been more believable to see her grow into the role and earn such a title through her actions and dedication over time.

Additionally, the presence of a typo within the book, where the character Scott is mistakenly referred to as Simon, reflects poorly on the editing process. However, it doesn't diminish the overall professionalism of the work.

Despite these shortcomings, the novel does have some redeeming qualities. The writing style flows smoothly, allowing for easy reading, and the book's setting has the potential to create an alluring atmosphere. However, for me, these positives are overshadowed by the lack of depth in character development and the plot's questionable decisions.

In conclusion, "Match for the Billionaire" failed to deliver a compelling and well-rounded romance narrative. With unclear character motivations and shallow character development, the book left me dissatisfied. While the premise shows promise, the execution ultimately fell short for me.

That aside, if you're looking for a rip-roaring, sexy read that isn't too taxing, this may well be right up your street.

"Derek Anderson. Billionaire bachelor. Famous Seattle figure. My boss." - Mia

Match for the Billionaire was a solid billionaire romance with every element of the sub-genre that I've come to expect: an egotistical workaholic, a down-on-her-luck clumsy damsel in distress, and mass amounts of sexual tension that the characters can't ignore for long. This book offered an enjoyable escape into a world of wealth and romance, and while the storyline and plot had its merits, there were aspects of the execution and character development that left me wanting more.

The not so meet cute was pretty standard to set the tone of their relationship. Mia can definitely stand up for herself and as a hurricane of fresh air, Derek finally takes notice of something other than his company. I wish the characters had more than one-dimensional personalities and I struggled to care about either of them individually.

The pacing of the book was generally steady, aside from timeline inconsistencies, but ultimately the plot felt a bit predictable and formulaic. The conflicts and obstacles faced by the characters felt resolved too quickly.

My biggest complaint while reading the book was the dialogue between the characters. At times it felt stilted in the name of being blunt or arranged for no other purpose than for info-dumping. Other scenes read as disjointed and not how real people speak to one another. I can imagine dialogue is the hardest part of writing a book, but it is also the easiest way to knock readers out of the story when it is not perfected.

I wish I had connected more with the story and characters, especially because this book is the first in a series of CEO Billionaire romances. I hope as the series develops, the execution becomes more precise.

Trigger Warning: childhood trauma (not detailed and off page), mildly dominating MC, physical violence (fight, same gender, mild), public spice, alcohol use

Match for the Billionaire is an easy read, sweet but not cheesy and filled with some steamy spice. This is book 1 in the Seattle CEO series by author Eve Madison. Derek, our billionaire MMC is a grumpy, arrogant workaholic and PITA for our FMC, Mia, a plain spoken, photographer surviving as a waitress. Their attraction to one another is instant and Madison writes the longing and instant chemistry with ease.

What I love:
-Dual POV
-Super steamy spice. Well written - you can 100% feel the heat and at one point in the book I felt
like a voyeur. HOT HOT HOT
-Non-toxic men. Don't get me wrong, they are human and have issues but I liked these guys.
-Strong female friendships
-The billionaire is not an alpha jerk. He is not the typically written rich guy.
-The banter is spot on

What I don't like:
-Repetitive wording & sentences. The description of Derek's company is repeated multiple times as
is the conflict or reason for his current stress (company going public). Each time feels exactly
the same.
-Plot jumps. There are a couple points where the characters make choices that feel like they come o
out of the blue. It doesn't always feel like an organic progression.
-For a character that says she doesn't drink much, there is a whole lot of excessive drinking.

I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading Book 2, the story of Derek's brother.

Mia is a waitress who has a terribly clumsy day and gets rescued by the jerk she was just serving. They find they have an undeniable connection but instead of pursuing it romantically Derek offers her a job instead. Desperate to earn money on a short timeline to break into the photography scene Mia takes it and they both work on fighting their attraction while riding out a scandal surrounding Derek and his company.

It’s an interesting story. Kind of a mystery in the romance. Some parts were a little far-fetched, especially in the development of their relationship and in just communication. Any rational person would’ve just explained their situation a tiny bit more and could’ve avoided half the trouble and miscommunication. The spicy parts were hot but also a little off, can’t really put my finger on why but I couldn’t really get into it. Took me four times as long to read as normal, not a terrible book just a little rough around the edges and some of the character development and interactions felt too forced not a waste of time though. The mystery kept me guessing the whole time but had a slightly unsatisfying conclusion. I’m definitely interested in ready about the other brothers too, I hope they get their own books so we can learn more about the whole family!

3.5 starsBillionaire romances don't seem to be going anywhere and if you want a quick, light read with minimal angst then this should fit the bill.
Mia is a struggling photographer working as a waitress who catches the eye of Derek, said billionaire.
Both Mia and Derek have backstories that are not fully explored and it left me wondering if there was a previous book I hadn't read but, this is the first in the series.
Neither shared much of their personal history with the other either which seemed a little strange to me. However, these are minor quibbles and easily glossed over.
There are a few cute and funny scenes involving Mia and Derek, especially in the beginning where she is working in the restaurant.
The story develops quickly, if predictably when Mia goes to work for Derek. Someone at the company is leaking information to the press and it isn't long before fingers point in Mia's direction. Derek is a likable enough character for most of the book but he should have had to work harder at the end to win Mia back. Mia on the other hand should have shown some loyalty and turned down that dodgy job offer instead of dithering.
Next booking the series is Ryder's story.

An easy read, perfect for a lazy day beside the pool.

This book begins in Seattle, Washington, with Mia. Mia is living thru a lousy day, almost getting fired from her waitressing job. I like Mia immediately; her outlandish comments and sassy remarks have me smiling. I like that she has so much spunk, but her temper might get her in a pickle occasionally, like now.

Derek, Mr. Ice Cold, or at least that seems to be his demeanor from her pov. But once we get to know him, it seems he is more calculating, and I love that story doesn't repeat the same scene in different povs. Derek is a typical boss, busy as heck and looking forward to the next deal, but he doesn't expect to run into a woman that challenges him with her wit. Let alone offer her a job?

Mia is relatable, has hot mess vibes, and is old enough to fall between new adult and midlife. The lines start to blur, and she isn't technically working yet. What I so didn't expect that what a fortuitous connection for her. All work and no play builds the angsty sexual tension betting Mia and Derek until this story gets steady enough to start to blur the lines.

The tangled web of desires vs. morals presents itself as Mia gets entangled in tough decisions and steamy situations. This book would be much better if the steamy scenes went both ways instead of one person giving all the time.

The author is seriously channeling some dom/sub vibes in this story. The story gets sad before it gets happy, but it does end okay. Around the end, unfortunately, I felt a disconnect between the characters, which caused me to read the last bit as an outsider looking in and, therefore, not enjoying their ending as much. Mia and Derek are a cute couple, but they didn't get to the dreamy, swoony vibe I expected from this billionaire romance. Instead, the difference between them needed to be more exaggerated and fixed so that the reader could dream of the life change and swoon at the pampering.

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Derek is going to be trouble for Mia's sanity or should it be the other way round because who is their right way of thinking would willing work with their walking temptation?
Mia assumes it was Derek that tattle for her slip up, making her doubt her ability for the server life at Sopra's, only it was the best paying job around to help fund the photography dream job. Now it's all down her boss's shirt in a manner of speaking thanks to the whiskey thief. When Derek had started his day, he never foreseen the event had him detour. Offering Mia a job after another disorganized assistant, does she know of the scandalous gossip? Risking it all on a whim of feeling Mia would be a good fit working with him. Keeping it professional is about to be more tempting after the long dry spell, especially after putting the little drunkard bed.
It's all just temporary until she lands her dream job..right!?!

Match for the Billionaire is a grumpy boss contemporary romance that brings together waitress and aspiring photographer Mia Kamaka with one of her customers, CEO Derek Anderson who cross paths one night when he grabs a drink off her serving tray meant for another customer.
Working at the four star restaurant has presented a few challenges for Mia who is one mishap away from losing her job.
Derek stepping in to assist her when that mishap occurs will steer them onto a path of passion, love, drama, friendships, humor, corporate intrigue, and personal vulnerability.
The writing was engaging as were characterizations in a read that was emotional and captivating.

I didn't click with the characters, so I think I was more critical of some things that normally I would've let pass. One thing that irritated me was that people seemed almost incapable of saying 'Derek' instead of 'Derek Anderson.' Mind you, I had just finished watching The Matrix a day or two prior to reading this book, so whenever I saw Derek Anderson (which seemed to be a lot) I heard Agent Smith's voice in my head saying, "Mr. Anderson," which was kind of fun.

A connection right from the start, it just happened to start with Mia having a heated confrontation with Derek. Making it a very memorable first official meeting where they actually talked to each other.

Having a bad day at work and then having to deal with a customer who thinks the world revolves around him is not what Mia wanted. Turing herself into the Whisky police as Derek creatively calls her when he takes drink from her tray meant for another customer. At this point she has had enough and just vents right to his face. I think this is the moment that he actually started to fall for her a bit as she was the first person to stand up to him and put him in his place. Queue comical moment shortly after involving a food tray. Thinking she is about to be fired she looks for a reason to escape and that lands in the form of Derek.

Derek is more than happy to escape with Mia for a few hours, even though he was meant to be meeting someone for a business deal that could soon be dead in the water after a story was printed about him. Mia is a breath of fresh air and someone he wants to have around more. This leads to him offering her a job, to be his new assistant. Could be tricky given that there is clearly chemistry simmering away between them. Whats the worst that could happen?

Mia is in need of money quickly to be able to afford a swanky new camera so she can take the best photo possible and be entered into a prestigious photography competition. This leads her to take not one but two jobs, the second being for a private eye where she would be taking photos of people. It’s only after she has agreed to work for Derek that she gets her first assignment from job number two. Can anyone guess who she is meant to follow? Someone she does’t need help with getting close to. She may need the money but after spending just a short amount of time with Derek she’s not sure on what path she should choose and time is running out.

The chemistry between them is a slow burn leading to hotter encounters the more time they spend together. It’s almost like each moment they are close they are playing some form of foreplay until they both decide to give into their true desires. Giving into said desires could have unforeseen consciences with secrets soon to be brought to the surface. Can they overcome the obstacles in front of them to see a future together or will past mistakes and stubborn tendencies bring them crashing back down to earth?

Two people who are meant to be together but will have to learn to get out of their own way to get the one they really want. Interesting characters that draw you in and start to create the world this series is going to belong in. Leads in next book are going to be fun. Friends/enemies to lovers I feel.

This book serves as a fantastic kickoff to the Seattle CEO series and sets the stage beautifully for the upcoming books. While I saw the plot twist coming early on, I was pleasantly surprised when Eve took it in a different direction, revealing it in an unexpected way. Personally, I wished Mr. Anderson had groveled a bit more, but overall, I had a great time reading this book. I'm eagerly looking forward to diving into the rest of the series and discovering the fates of the other characters!

I enjoyed reading this romance by Eve Madison and thought it was a great read to get into her writing. It was a good start to her Seattle CEO series and I think it sets up the next in the series wonderfully! I really appreciate the FMC being an enthusiastic fan of the Backstreet Boys as I am a fan as well! I loved that even though I saw the plot twist coming early on when reading, I was surprised and glad that Eve took it in a different direction and had it revealed in a way i did not see coming! I personally would have liked to see Mr. Anderson grovel a bit more, but still really enjoyed reading this book! Looking forward to reading the rest in this series and seeing where the other characters end up in this world!

This my first Eve Madison, the first in a new series, and I wasn't disappointed. Delightfully hot and sexy. Great characters, and a well written storyline. Would recommend. Cannot wait for the next book!

I had to DNF it was so boring and corny but I read at least 50% and I will never get that time that so it’s counting towards my reading goal 🤠

Wow...Mia and Derek's story is filled with twists, turns, laughter, heartache, tear-jerking moments, undeniable chemistry, friendship, family, secrets and so much more. You'll be immediately immersed and won't want to put it down until you've finished! Mia is a strong, fiesty, intelligent and creative woman who is in need of finding herself again after heartbreak. Derek is a workaholic recluse on the outside, but there's more beneath the surface. Can they show eachother who they truly are behind the masks?... Looking forward to reading more in the series!.

I have to admit being confused a few times reading this. It seemed like I was missing something. But in the end I thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between the MCs and enjoyed the introduction to the brothers. I really didn’t care for Tina in the beginning, her character was so harsh, midway through she is suddenly supportive. It just felt like the character hadn’t been fully developed in the author’s mind prior to writing her into the story.

But even with that discomfort, I felt at times, I still really recommend this book. Appropriate Angst. Excellent steam. Sweet ending. What more could you ask for in a romance?.

This is the first book in the Seattle Billionaire Series and it starts with a bang with Derek who is ceo of Hare and Holeton publishing firm who runs it with his family and workaholic who needs to learn how find happiness in himself.when he meets Mia its like everything changes for the better ,but when smear campaign is leaked will he believe Mia or his family ?will he destroy the best thing that's ever happened to him? Great story and some funny spots had me laughing for sure and you can definitely connect with the characters emotions and Heartbreak and pain. Loved it.
