'The Guernica Generation: Basque Refugee Children of the Spanish Civil War' is a historically accurate account of the Spanish Civil War that erupted July 17, 1936. General Francisco Franco, a Fascist, battled the Republican government. The Spanish Civil War was between civil rights and Fascism.

This is an often harrowing account of what triggered the war and what happened to the thousands of Basque children that sought refuge from many countries. You will be genuinely surprised to discover the actual accounts and destinations of these children.

One of these Basque children describes her journey at the age of 6 to the Soviet Union.

This book was riveting and with fact checking with Wikipedia on the internet, this book has illuminated what so many survived in Spain during the 20th century. I highly recommend this book to any history buffs!
