Sometimes dreams are the only escape from a life that is worse than nightmares…
Emily Hilbright isn’t your average 20 year old girl. She isn’t focused on school. Or boys. Or friends. Normal doesn’t exist for her.
Surviving consumes her days. Trying to stay sane overwhelms her nights.
Because for Emily, sleep doesn’t bring rest. It brings her own personal hell.
And through it all, he’s there. Her mysterious tormentor. Her unlikely savior. A constant. Always watching. His presence haunts her. His love consumes her. He becomes her world as she slowly loses everything.
But he exists only in her mind.
Or does he?
Good and evil play out on a distorted landscape where dreams become reality. Madness looks like sanity.
And Emily soon learns that love can be the thing that kills you.

I just noticed this book came out in December 2011, and I am freaking out thinking the sequel may not happen! I need to know how this turns out for Emily and Tavin. I NEED TO KNOW!!!
I have enjoyed each of this author's novels, and I highly recommend reading her stuff. She's got a firm grip on suffering, turmoil and overwhelming determination to overcome. I love her voice--her literary voice, of course. She's real, but she also has a way with the paranormal that makes it feel magically "normal." Like magic exists, and it's not perfect, but it's out there. Period. I find that refreshing, somehow.
This book is long and rife with struggle, borderline insanity and confusion. It's not a light and fluffy novel, that's for sure. But it is oh-so-worth reading. I'm once again impressed--so long as the sequel comes out soon. I'm serious, Ms. Walters!!
I would rate this book at the 3 1/2 star point. Strong YA feel to the book. This is quite a dark story but lets be honest, if your are writing about demons and feeding off someones soul/life force, there isnt alot to be sunny about! Is a HEA kinda story.....kinda! Will I read the second book, yes.
Can nightmares become your reality? For the last six months every time Emily falls asleep she falls into a nightmare and not just any nightmare but one that leaves her feeling as if she has been disconnected from reality. Now she's starting to think that her nightmares are becoming her reality. That is until she sees tantalizingly blue eyes in her nightmare that somehow are able to ground her and along with those eyes is the overwhelming and comforting smell of cinnamon. For some reason, she knew that he was dangerous but felt like she could trust him. He would keep her safe from the nightmares that were plaguing both her dreams and her reality.
Tavin is a demon. A soul sucker. And isn't supposed to be able to love... that is until he marks Emily and follows her in her dreams. She's different. Strong. And everything light. Will he be able to kill her in order to save his own life or will he give up his life in order for her to live? Because in his reality, if she lives then he has to die.
This is definitely a young adult romance novel that leaves you squeeing for the next book in the series.
I bought this book to support the author, a high school classmate of my daughter's. Little did I know how much I would enjoy it, and I look forward to the next volume of this trilogy and to others she has in progress.
Emily Hilbright's life is a mess. The teenaged protagonist has had more than her share of dysfunctional family issues, and her nightmares are ensuring that sleep brings no respite from her soul-sucking existence. If it weren't for her loyal best friend Sasha, life wouldn't be worth living. But the boy in her dreams is intoxicating, even when she's not sure about his intentions...especially when the lines are blurred between dreams and reality and Sasha suspects Emily is losing her grip with sanity.
The premise that a creature born to wreak evil and havoc might have a change of heart -- and the impact this might have on other forces of good and evil -- is a fascinating and thought-provoking one.
This book hmmm.... I liked this book but I am a little confused... is there going to be a second book because right now I feel like I am left hanging. This book is great really, so well written and the story line is fabulous who would have thought Lilith was involved in all of this. I honestly love reading books that have Lilith in them because every single book portrays her so different. I suggest you read this and I will give it a fifth star as soon as I know there is a second book coming :-)
This book is nothing like I thought it would be. It was interesting and has re-piqued my interest in the stories of angels and demons. I can't wait to see what happens next in the story because the relationship seems very impossible and I hope everything works out for the characters.
There were a lot of editing issues and I got confused on who was talking.
This was a disappointing read for me... Not my usual genre, wanted to change it up a little. This seemed to resemble a few other "young adult-supernatural-romance" offerings out there. I will not likely read any further work of this author. :-(
I still don't know what I think about this book. I didn't know what to expect, and the ending left me feeling ...ugh. I'm very curious to see where the story goes and look forward to the rest of the series.
I really enjoyed this book. It started out pretty slow, I found myself skipping paragraphs at a time. Not u til chapter 10 or sordid I start to really like the book.
