Jack isn't your typical vampire. He has a high paying job, drives a nice car, owns a nice home and has a closet full of clothes that would make the top editor at GQ envious. He's a rarity among vampires, one who has successfully blended into the human world and enjoys the trivialities of human life.
Holly, a blonde haired, green-eyed beauty is exactly the type of girl that could take Jack out of his comfort zone and have him risk his true identity. Intruiged by her radiant beauty, Jack goes all out to impress Holly, even if it means extending the night into the possibility of facing the early morning sun.
In the tradition of Bram Stoker's Dracula, King's Vampire Revealed is a tell-all epistlary from a vampire who enjoys Facebook, reality shows, and the newest consumer technology. It is also the beginning of Jack's harrowing tale of betrayal, horror, exploitation, and the ultimate revelation of the origins of humanity and vampires.
**REVIEWS**
“P.J. Day breathes fresh air into a genre oversaturated with the same plotlines and characters. This page turner is something special.” —H.T. Night, author of Vampire Love Story and Winning Sarah’s Heart
“King’s Blood is a fantastic story that is told from an intelligent perspective.” —Summer Lee, author of Kindred Spirits and Angel Heart
“Hip. Relevant. Darkly funny. Day’s vampires offer a unique perspective on what it means to be human. A fantastic new series.” —J.R. Rain, author of Moon Dance and Dark Horse
I have purchased and read the four books in this series. I recommend that you start with book one and go in order. When you finish book one, I am certain you will be buying book two immediately. I should have ordered the entire box set. Hint Hint :)
P.J. Day creates a new and exciting spin on the life of a vampire in our modern society. I am somewhat of a history buff and interested in politics and socioeconomic status and this series made me think.
It was a page turner. I kept believing I had things figured out, but then the rug would be pulled out from under me and I would find myself thinking...what the heck?!! I am excited to learn more about the wonderful characters that have been brought to life in the series.
The author reveals just enough of his vampire hero, Jack, to whet our appetite. In this first novella, we meet 140 year old Jack who can speak from experience how society has dramatically changed over the past century. From a vampire's perspective, the comparison of what it's like to live in today's technical world as opposed to 100'ish years ago is enlightening to say the least. The author delivers Jack's insights in a very amusing way. The social commentary is hilarious! The novel had me laughing out loud many times when Jack was giving his perspective on Facebook, instant messaging, Smartphones and even voting for your favourites on reality TV shows. Funny as these parts are, hearing Jack's views on love and dating is even better.
From someone who reads a lot in the paranormal genre, overall, I would say this novella is relevant to our times, gives a refreshing spin on vampire fiction, and provides an incredibly entertaining form of escapism. This is a new author and series for me and I'll definitely be checking out more of Jack.
This was a good start to a series I know I will enjoy reading. This first book definitely sets the scene to what is to come in the future "episodes".
What happens when you are a vampire just trying to fit in with the rest of the world? You do everything you can so you can become "just like everyone else". With a job he can do from home Jack has it all, social networking at his fingertips, a co-worker Ted who knows all about him, and a new girl interest named Holly. In this first episode we get an inside look of what being a vampire in modern days is like, how he deals with his sun intolerance to how he survives his blood thirst. He has adjusted very well to the human world until a phone call has him scrambling to make plans to go see a client in Hong Kong. With Ted as his side kick it will definitely be an adventure for sure!
Didn't realise I hadn't left a review. By the time I'd decided to stop reading book 1, I discovered there was only three pages left so I finished them. Seven chapters, so little interaction with other characters (only three in those seven chapters). The rest was the wafflings of the main character. It became tiresome because there as no breaking of it with interactions with other characters. Even Bella's wafflings in the Twilight series was bearable because of the constant interaction with those in her life.
If you are after action/interaction then don't bother with this book. If you enjoy such writings of predominately the main character's thoughts and musings then you might enjoy this. Do make up your own mind though.
When I bought book one, it came with book two. I won't be reading it unless I'm desperate and bored out of my mind. Sorry PJ Day.
I was really looking forward to reading "King's Blood, Part 1" but found myself very disappointed. 30% of the book is the internal musings of a vampire, Jack recounting all of the changes he has seen over his 150 years. It was not interesting and I kept waiting for the real story to begin. Then, when we begin seeing Jack interact with Holly I had hope that there would be some action and a great plot. It just never materialized and really there was not much there that let me know he was truly a vampire other than him talking about it.
This was not the book for me. There was no humor, action or interesting information. Additionally, the writing felt disjointed. If the truth be known, I was bored senseless. Sorry, P.J. This book just did not work for me.
Very Short. First part of a 4 book series. I was enticed when it called itself a "serial novel" which is all I ever look for. Right now it's looking like a collection of short stories. This "novel" didn't even have enough meat to scrape out a complete story within a story. The whole series is only $5 on Kindle, so I guess I shouldn't expect any of the books to be very long. King seems interesting. And the imgur is totally real - and almost made me laugh out loud when I pulled it up.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I liked the interaction with Jack and Holly. I always enjoy a male's point of view on women and dating. PJ did a great job of putting a twist on the vampire story in this one. Great idea of a vampire playing human in a human world. I read the entire series in 3 days, one of those books you just can't put down.
I throughly enjoyed this book!! I love Jack! We get to go on his first date with Holly which is nothing like he planned. The characters are well written and I loved their interactions. I have already purchased books two and three and can't wait to dive in! The series is fun and it moves along. GREAT JOB PJ!!
P.J. Day has given me a new Vampire to swoon over. With a lead character who is charasmatic and swoon worthy,it should be enough on its own. But Kings Blood gives you an engrossing plot line that will leave you begging for more. I can't wait to read book 2.
Come on, let the book begin already!! Just finished it, the end came upon me out of nowhere and to tell you the truth I'm relieved for a short book it was drawn out and dreadfully tedious and dull....wondering if there's a storyline at all
Needed more action and less internal musing. Felt this was more like reading someone's diary and to much time was spent on the internal world of the lead. not sure how I felt about the auction other than brilliant unexpected twist at the end. exploitation turns my stomach.
This is an amusing "new" look at the life of a modern vampire's life. It's relatively short and I'm looking forward to reading the other three installments.
Never finished this book...It couldn't keep my interest at all and after only reading 7% of book, I just couldn't take it anymore and gave up...Definitely would not recommend.
While I found this partial-story intriguing, I am again frustrated with people publishing"books" that are only part of serials. This is not the same as a series of books. How about we take the first three serials and make it one book? I would then rate this much higher.
