Vampires live a long life and it can appear to be perfect to those who don't have the option for immortality, but when your sanity and place in society is dependent on the one you love- the thought of eternity can be excruciating.
When Bristol finds his true blood-mate at an early age, the girl who knows him to the deepest part of his soul- everything seems perfect. He pictures a future of only the two of them with no rules or limitations, but one terrifying night all of those dreams are stolen from him.
I am the author of the With Love series- YA Paranormal Romance. Broken Bond, which is the short story prequel was out in 2011, along with Bonded With Love, book 1 of the series. Struggle With Love, book 2, will be out in late May of 2013. I have been writing all of my life and always hoped to be published. I absolutely love sitting down and putting pen to paper. It is calming for me. I also love reading. I read mostly YA Paranormal Romances, but am willing to try anything. I love spending time with family, my husband and my beautiful baby boy, and friends. Enjoy rainstorms, movies of all genres, singing, drink coffee, and sitting in front of a fireplace(although I don't get to do that much in TX). I look forward to hearing for all of you, so please feel free to message me :)
This short story was a really interesting way to start a series. We get inside Bristol's head before he begins his journey into insanity and then watch him slowly deteriorate after his mate is taken from him. I assume he's the one we follow in the series?
Bristol begins his journey as a man in love. He's got some hunch that something bad will happen, but he isn't quick enough to act. It happens pretty quickly - his mate is taken and he has lost his one true love. When vampires lose their mates, they begin the slow trip to madness. First they become more thirsty for blood, then they can't quite become satisfied, then they're pretty much gone. His poor best friend is put in a horrible position to move him between the levels of their asylum, probably setting up Bristol's hatred of their kind. While this story had a historical feel to it, I found myself sucked in despite my typical tastes.
It’s 1932 and Bristol Dupont is a vampire living in a vampire community in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. He has his true mate and the future is looking pretty good even with the rogue vampires causing problems. And then the unthinkable happens and Bristol is left anchorless and going insane.
This prequel to the With Love series is interesting, but there isn’t as much background about the vampires as I had hoped. I wanted to get a better feel for what they are about, where they came from, why the rogues were allowed to live, why Irene was taken, etc. The dialogue could use some work and the characters need some fleshing out. Otherwise, not a bad start to a series.
I just finished reading Broken Bond by Tiffany Heiser and really loved it. It helped me to see the real meaning behind Bristol. His back story of why he is the way that he is. I thought that it was a great read.I can understand why he feels the way he does through this prequel. I will definitely read more containing to this character all books surrounding it. Tiffany Heiser is a great author and I can't wait to read more from her. I rate this a 5 star. Thanks Fallon farmer
I think this is a really good prequel to get to know the character. I decided to read it before book one in hopes of understanding the characters. It's not a long book, but packed a lot of info. The writing was great and I loved the detail on what happens to a vampire if they lost their blood mate, how they go insane. It was a differnt outlook on the vampirism. I love how she didn't follow all the other Vampire fades, adding her own unique take. I would recommend reading this book before you start the series.
