Demon Vampire is an epic paranormal dark mystery that is intended for mature audiences. The vampires within are visceral. They do not sparkle, they do not brood. They are human monsters in the very sense of the words. Demon Vampire is written with a poetic mastery that is felt in every word. It draws you in from the first sentence and never lets go.
I enjoy writing about the visceral vampires you remember from the nineties. The romance, the pain, the loss.
Lately I've enjoyed writing fantasy. The type of high magic that isn't just two wizards casting spells to try to kill each other. No, that's not enough. I say that when two wizards fight, they split mountains apart when not throwing meteors and opening gouts of fire from the elemental planes. That is what spellcasters do.
I've read many books with vampire storylines, but Demon Vampire is very different. Virgil Allen Moore has crafted an extraordinary story with a unique protagonist, Zack Giver.
Virgil Allen Moore is a skilled artisan who draws Zack Giver's story with bold strokes of suspense and tension and gentle touches of character indecision, and emotional angst. Demon Vampire is a singular novel that pulls the reader in. Readers are compelled to turn the page to discover what will happen next. Virgil Allen Moore skillfully drives the story along, knowing when to apply the gas and when to slow down.
Forget about other vampire books you've read. Don't assume anything! Demon Vampire is a mature story with complex relationships and converging subplots.
If you're looking for a different kind of vampire novel, for a vampire story with bite and substance, you've found it.

The title of Virgil Moore's book, Demon Vampire, might turn you off. The cover of his book might turn you off. Or they could be intriguing to you and be the reason you want to purchase the book. Either way Mr. Moore is successful in this paranormal/horror book.
First of all, this is a paranormal story involving vampires and such creatures. I have to admit that these books are starting to not draw me in as much anymore because there are so many of them. I haven't read a ton of them, but of the vampire stories I've read, this is not one to fall in the copy-cat boring category. Mr. Moore gives a new twist to a story of vampires.
Next, I consider this a horror story. I have friends who like horror and might laugh that I describe it as such since they read ones that would give me nightmares from being within touching distance of the book. Yet I call this a horror story because it gave me nightmares. That right there convinced quite a few people they have to read this book. I might to agree with that.
Though I view this story as a horror story, I have to admit I enjoyed. Horror usually is a strike 'no' for me. This one was not over the top scary which is a plus for me. It takes unusual twists and turns that keep the story fresh and the reader guessing. That is one of the strongest points of Mr. Moore's work. The plot is very intricate and far from simple which is what I like. This on the other hand, made it difficult for me to follow in the beginning. I was very confused and was wondering if any of it would make sense. Yet the more I read the more I grew to understand and appreciate the writer's style.
I did find quite a few editing issues within the book but not enough to detract you from the story. At times, the dialogue seems a little unreal, but we are talking demon vampires here. They are unreal themselves.
Do you like paranormal stories? Do you like to read unique twists on vampires? Do you like mildly horror stories? Do you enjoy complicated stories and plots? Then you have to check this book out. I wanted to stop reading it because of the horror characteristics yet I had to know what was going to happen to this young man who was finding out that his 'ordinary' life is far from ordinary. Mr. Moore has done a great job of giving me a few sleepless nights.

Demon Vampire by Virgil Allen Moore Ok, this can't be 'a typical' review because I am unable to remove myself OUT of the book. It has totally sucked me into it's realm! It's like walking into a dream where you do not trust your senses because you do not know what is around the mist coming up off the ground. Dreams that feel so real you can feel the pain, taste the pleasures it has to offer and the darkness we all have inside of us. You see someone in the distance that seems familiar, maybe the way they walk, or the tilt of their head, and you feel just a little bit 'safer', but can you be sure they are truly who they appear to be? What power do we actually have control of in our dreams, what can we actually do? Is it possible to transport power from a dream into the realm of the living? Ask yourself, are you awake right now, or are you dreaming? Demon Vampire has totally blown me away! Virgil has made me look at vampires in a whole new light in which I have welcomed! I have read and reviewed A LOT of books, and to give credit where it is due, they were all five stars in my eyes because I do not judge an author who writes about my favorite character lightly. But what Virgil has done should be no threat to the tone other authors write about the Vampire. Virgil is truly unique with such a unprecedented imagination that I feel has limitless power. He takes you into the deepest, darkest heart of a Vampire and allows you to experience their hopes, dreams, wishes. Oh, you didn't know Vampires have those like humans do? It's not always about the cloak and blood. There are dark dark secrets that only the elite are to know, there is a hunger for power and vengeance beyond belief. It tears and rends the soul to get it's point across to you, the reader. Do you dare take the invitation it has to offer you? Do you dare take the hand offered to you, to meet the Demon Vampire? In my review I have given very little information about characters, plot line, etc. I feel looking at other reviews, this has been done. I wanted to write a view from the very depths of my soul and imagination and what 'I' felt about it. I am still feeling it, and I do not know if I will ever recover or realize I have completed the book and am safe in my chair, typing you this review. I give Demon Vampire by Virgil Allen Moore five stars ***** *Note: Thank you Virgil for allowing me to take this voyage into your mind. This author's work speaks volumes... Being a person who is not easily impressed, and only write reviews when credit is due. This certainly is the case with Virgil Allen Moore's work. His words(the book is 500packed pages)seeps into your mind and produces an lucid trance from page one. You do not get a simple novel, Moore has perfected his work and leaves a lasting, sweet quality upon your soul! Some say this is a 'dark novel', and I was cringing at moments, but I was also enthralled at the story content, the traveling in and out of the dream worlds and powers of unique gifts each have, and the relationships between the characters; I loved this! I was not disappointed. Instead, I was mesmerized at every page and could not put the book down. This is a truly powerful story. The authors blog is incredible too, with very cool pictures.I googled his name and found it as well as reading the reviews and sample chapters. I will be reading more of his work and cant wait for the next book in the red gold series.
Demon Vampire is Virgil Allen Moore's first novel, and it's a big, bold, ambitious one at that. Dare one say, epic, even, as the tale spans several centuries and continents. This was a move away from the recent surfeit of fluffy, angsty, moralising vampires, back to the darker, nastier creatures as envisaged by authors like Anne Rice and Charlaine Harris. Virgil Allen Moore also introduces a new aspect to the vampire mythos—vampeals: half-human, half-vampire hybrids, which is certainly unique among anything I've read previously.
Here be spoilers....
All in all, this was very enjoyable, and the author shows great promise. In many ways, the book was considerably better than some I've read from mainstream publishers, in terms of plot, description and characterisation. Congratulations Virgil!
Oh, and finally—I'm not a resident of the US, and so not bound by its laws. However, for the record, I will state that the author contacted me to ask if I would be interested in reading his book, and very kindly provided a copy of it. In return, I agreed to write a review, but Mr. Moore has had no input to or preview of this review before I put it up on Goodreads. It's all my own work :-)
When I started reading Demon Vampire I felt it was a refreshingly new and powerful story about vampires with a twist. There are so many cookie cutter vampire books out there and Demon Vampire is definitely different than any story I've read. I fell in love with the characters and found myself truly caring for what happens to them. Even the antagonists have their own inner conflicts that make them unique and interesting. I really enjoyed the imagery in this story it was very poetic and beautifully written. I truly had trouble putting this book down and found myself staying up late just to get to the next chapter. I was mesmerized by the depth and complexity of Demon Vampire so much that I actually have read this book more than once. I would definitely suggest this book to anyone that is looking for a story that kicks your imagination into overdrive and awakens your senses into a world of vampires that you can finally believe in. I can't wait to read the next book because the ending leaves you wanting more. Well done!
Initially, I was attracted to this becasue of the exquisitely beautiful cover girl, and I wasn;t really much of a vampire fan, but now that my mate and I have book read it, we're vampire fans for life, and want to read all this authors other books.
This was a really long story, or so it seemed to me. Either way, I feel like nothing was really going on, it seemed very flat to me. I never felt that drawn into, and didn't really care what happened to the characters. Now I love details/descriptions/fluff, but this book had way too much for my liking. I would start reading a description and several long sentences later, I would have to stop and think as to what was going on in the story. The details or whatever, would take up so much time to read and it would pull my out of the story. Some I felt like I had to decipher because I wasn't really sure what was being said.
Needless to say, I wasn't really a fan here. There was more description than actual story. Zack was a complete moron regarding his interactions with everyone. That making him a very annoying character for me. I get a guy might seem stupider interacting with a pretty girl, but Zack was too much. I can only handle so much of the constant apologizing to someone. I'm surprised he never caught on, but at the same time not surprised. I didn't really like Kyli either, she was just a bitch. There was nothing really likable about her, to me. The fact that the author chose to explain some of Del Marin's story seemed strange. I actually thought that explaining Kyli's fathers life would have made more sense. Especially when we were told that he was 200 years old. In the end, I had a ton of questions/comments and there were lots of 'questionable phrases' that I had no clue as to what they meant. There were SO MANY grammar/punctuation errors throughout the book, which didn't help my 'tuning' into the story and inconsistencies. I had to keep stopping to jot them down. I am definitely not interested in continuing with this series either.
FYI, I was offered to read this story prior to it being released. I was really hoping for a good story here, but unlike the other reviewers I've read that enjoyed this story and gave high ratings, I did not. I had informed the author or whoever it was that sent the story to me, on how I did my reviews, so I'm forwarding all that to them. Either way, even with my questions answered, it won't matter in the least to my review/rating. I would give this story 1 star.
P.S. I usually always end up posting my questions/comments I have for the books that I don't like. So below are all 25 of those. The best one I found:
Del was born in 1902. And 'after three years at the firm', the year is 1949. This is when he's leaving the US for the overseas job, it says that he should technically be 30. Now I'm not that great in math but I can subject 1902 from 1949. So how in the beep is he only 30? Time line doesn't match here.
=========== Questions/Comments:
1. When the strange vampire creature at the beginning wakes up, why does the coroner shoot him? The vampire creature wasn't doing anything threateningly or trying to scare them. It doesn't really make sense to me when he's dead and the coroner and intern are both so nonchalant about the corpse, but have a heart attack when the vampire creature wakes up and asking reasonable questions. To me, the shooting would only make sense if the people hadn't known Vampires were real.
2. Why does Zack's bedroom have no windows? Considering he's not yet a vampean/vampire, doesn't really make sense.
4. So Zack gets backhanded twice and blood is "spilling off the lap of a chair." I would only find that likely if his nose was broken. A busted lip...can't imagine that much blood results from it.
5. So a hand going through your calf and then breaking your humerus bone, results in only a wincing of pain? He's seems so energized too, with all the talking, even with the blood lose. He hasn't started changing yet because that seems to start after Orhn pours the blood onto his wounds.
6. Zack doesn't seem very smart. He's still questioning what he is after Orhn breaks a bunch of his bones and tells him he's a vampire, then Kylie tells him she's a vampean. And not to mention his reaction when he finds out she's taking him to a Hotel. He's worried about her trying to test him on whether he'll pay for the meal or not, and he having no clue where his wallet is. Really? They both look like crap, covered in blood and he's worrying over that? Very stupid.
7. On page 70, "Orhn had broken Zack's LEFT humerus in half." On page 90, we're told that Zack's RIGHT arm was bent inward at a disturbing angle. But then page 92, "Zack felt a crack in his LEFT arm." After Kylie sets it. Messed up there.
8. On page 99, Zack is telling Kyli about being with Orhn. "There wasn't even any sound when he bore his hand into my arm." How old is Zack suppose to be? He's getting ready for high school, so he should be around 14-15?. But him using the word 'bore', just doesn't sound right. Seems like too smart of a word for him. Then his vision starts to blur and he sways. The door bell rings and la, la, la, foods here and nothing more is said about him about to pass out (or sounds like he was going to).
9. Even after Kyli's been so bitchy towards Zack he still ends up eating four raw steaks? Just to make her happy? Sorry but Zack is definitely stupid. I guess if she were friendly she could have at least had him work his way up to eating that much considering he didn't like rare meat to begin with. I know she was sent to kill him but I don't understand why she's waiting.
10. Another stupid moment for Zack. Waking up from passing out from eating the steaks, he's having some vision problems. He's moving his glasses all around trying to see better. Sorry, but it's not like the glass lens covers your entire eyeball. Hence when you wear glasses (which I do) you can make your eyes look up, without moving your head or down and see, in my case blurriness. For Zack, it should have been clear, hence he should have been able to tell he didn't need the glasses. Then he doesn't even realize she took his glasses. Um...how did he not feel them coming from behind his ears? To top it off, he makes a grab for them saying he needs them to see? Seriously?
11. Page 113. "Demon gifts are abilities, Zack, not people." "It forces the vampire's mind out and controls the body directly." How? This doesn't really make sense to me. If the demon gift was a person or entity, then it eventually controlling the host would make sense, but a gift controlling a body? And his 'demon gift' talks to him. I'm confused.
12. I really can't imagine cranberry juice and blood taste anything alike. Even with both cold and tasting good. Considering Zack had seen Kyli drink blood previously, he never considered she'd give him some too? Even after the steaks? Again stupid moment. Or their talk about thinking of being a vampire/vampean as havind diabetes. Zack stupidly thinks Kyli is serious and comments on how people with diabetes don't bite people.
13. Zack's phone call to his dad. Had to have been the strangest thing I've ever heard a parent say to their 14-15 y/o son. Sure you can stay at some strange (yes, rich) girls house (hotel) and even after her chat of them 'getting along great', he only has to call every few days? After having been gone for like 1-2 days already? And then to find out that his dad had been gone for 1 1/2 days without even having talked to Zack first or during that time? And all the subtle sexual talk by Kyli? Really? Not a fan of John, but did like Diane. At least one of them is in parent mode.
14. Why does Kyli play stupid when her father meets Zack? We know at the beginning that her father wanted her to kill Zack. Why she brings him home and plays house with him, tries to get him to change, only to kill him, is beyond me. But her father does the same thing, acting as if he doesn't already know about Zack. It's not they can pretend they're just a regular father and daughter, when the father looks younger than the daughter. I didn't really understand that whole scene there. And how does his contact just fall out? I can understand if your messing with your eye, rubbing it or something but just randomly falling out?
15. On page 192, Del is talking with Mr. McHugh about him marrying Demy. Mr. McHugh says that Del could never be the man who would father his (Mr. McHugh's) only grandchild. How would he know if he'd have only one grandchild? Also, he'd rather have his daughter single and pregnant rather than married right away?
16. What is visceral fluid? I tried looking it up on google but couldn't really find anything. There was something about visceral pleura, which covers the lungs and in the pleural cavity-that contains fluid...And if the woman has a slit throat wouldn't the ground be covered in blood rather than visceral fluid?
17. On page 198, Del is unconscious prior to being drained dry of his blood. To get the vampires blood into Del, "she struck his jaw upwards. The trauma forced his teeth into her flesh." That sounds kind of doubtful, unless his teeth were sharp (which probably wasn't the case), his teeth would have been broken or something from being hit like that. Moving on, why was he place on an all liquid diet?
18. So when Del leaves Mr. McHugh's house, prior to leaving he puts on ALL his clothes (Page 201). Why? No clue. Anyways, months later he's wearing his suit still. What happened to the other clothes. By the sound of it, it seems like he's only been wearing the suit all this time. Hence it said that his suit was 'saturated in old, coagulated liquid', from all the cows he'd fed on. And I can't imagine he's eating more than one cow a night. But on page 209, it says that he's still wearing the same suit from when he had originally left the house.
19. One part that was really hard to imagine was when Charlene was cleaning Del up. They're behind a restaurant, in an alley, sitting on a bench, where a hose is located, and there's mud on the ground. Not all those clues really add up correctly to me. And are these lockers outside as well? Doesn't really make sense but considering the reader is told everything going on, it's never mentioned (until afterwards) that Charlene went back inside. Yet she reaches for a towel as well, and tells Del to get dressed. Again, I can't imagine he's doing this outside. But after this, it then says that she goes back inside the restaurant. BTY, what year is this suppose to be? Because they're obviously driving cars, yet it's only been like 2 months since Del left the farm/Demy and he met her when he was 25. I don't get the impression that it's one of those olden days type of cars either, the ones that had the long steering wheel column and moved real slowly.
20. What did Del so about his appearance while taking night classes? His eyes?
21. So Del becomes a tax lawyer at a firm. "He had gained enough clout to ask for much more and didn't." Just the no windows in his office and being able to move to another country after his 5 years was up. The lead guy says fine, but make it ten instead? Ten years?
22. I can't imagine it really being possible for a non-aging person to stay in the same place for 10 years with no one noticing. Not to even count the fact that Del has been dressing the exact same that whole time.
23. P. 224, Even after all this time Del still hadn't realized that he was a vampire, yet Ed did? Hard to believe that.
24. P.225, What was the point of including the tree with the office fire? Especially if the tree was near the building? If the tree is 2 feet wide, there would be an obvious hole in the ground. No sense there.
25. Maria ends up shooting Del in the chest because she think he works for Silveretta. Yet when Del wakes up she tells him she knew there was a vampire at her door. Huh? Later on, she's talking about another vampire she had met when she was younger. He leaves and returns a year later saying that if he'd stayed he would have been hunted? For what? Even if he would have had sex with Maria, doesn't mean everyone would have known. Also, she has no problem with him scratching her? It has to hurt to a degree if it's bleeding.
26. When arriving at the physic artist vampire, Kyli is explaining to Zack that 'they paint everything' including the blood river. Afterwards Bethany sees into Zack's mind, Marin ends up choking her. Kyli is pleading with him to stop, but why?
Some stories are like appetizers, others are like lunch and my favorites are like desserts. In the case of Demon Vampire, I can easily say its like a Thanksgiving Dinner with every single fixin' you can think of!
The first thing that struck me as I read this story was the Anne Rice feel to it. But I made the initial mistake of treating it like an Anne Rice novel, in which I can easily skip pages and not loose the thread of the story. Not with Demon Vampire, there is vital information everywhere! This brings me to the second thing I noticed: this book re-taught me to be patient, relax and enjoy the story. I am very used to reading books that are 250 pages or less where the plot and dialogue is developed very quickly. In this case, especially at the beginning, the characters get there when they get there, in this book there's no rushing.
First we are introduced to Zack, an awkward teen, who, even though has weird blood-filled dreams, he doesn't feel like he's anything special. Then we meet David and his daughter Kyli who are plotting to kill Zack because of what lives inside him, an ancient, evil Demon Vampire. One that can and will destroy civilizations with its uncontrollable power. At this point I thought I could predict the main plot, but I was so wrong!
As the story unfolds we meet Orhn Damascus, a vampire/vampeal that comes out of the blue to torture Zack. This torture teaches us important things about Zack and Kyli who comes to rescue him, and we get to know Orhn's fascinating story of love and loss later on in the book. As new vampires and vampeals are introduced, we learn about their stories and relationships with each other. As it is with people, there are "good" and "bad" vampires and the thing about immortality is that if a vampire has a grudge, it will fester and grow for centuries and so far I didn't see any of them wanting to "forgive and forget".
The story goes from the present day where Zack is trying to figure out what the hell he is, to the past, where we get to find out the stories of the different vampires and vampeals surrounding Zack. There are several centuries-old relationships in this story, but the main one is between Zack and Kyli.
The ending of Demon Vampire seemed to me like the ending of the Fellowship of the Ring, you can tell there will be more. Even in the last chapter, Kyli is still explaining things about the Vampire Elders. I'm sure all this wealth of information will be needed when the next books in the series come along. When you finish the book, one thing I can almost bet is that you will go back and re-read Chapter One!
I found this to be a very well written different approach to the vampire genre. I enjoyed this book and the characters. I felt the author took time and developed them so we could become well invested in them. The book flowed smoothly and I was able to read it in one sitting. I am glad this book will be continued as I really enjoyed the characters and would like to see where he goes with them from here. I would highly recommend this book to my friends who read in the vampire genre, but I would also recommend it to anyone who wanted something a bit different. I was given a link to download this book for free and I must say thank you for that. This is one book I would have bought and may still (hard cover perhaps) to go in my collection. I found this book entertaining to my creature/horror senses as well as for a bit of romance and action. Thank you Virgil Allen Moore for such a wonderful read.
I REALLY enjoyed this book. It started off a bit odd, but I quickly became completely absorbed in the storyline. I enjoyed how the author eventually began to go back and forth through time so the reader can get the back story of the other characters in the story, and you can't help but root for Zack as he struggles with the knowledge that he is a half-vampire and has a demon inside of him that may potentially take him over. There were an extreme amount of misspelled words and punctuation errors that were a bit distracting for me, but easily overlooked in the long run. I truly did enjoy the book, and can only say that I was disappointed to realize that the end was NOT the end, and now I am left wondering what will happen to the characters I have grown to like so very much? A great effort by a new author and I hope to be able to read more about what will happen to Zack and crew!
This is a very well written exciting new series. Virgil Allen Moore's writing has a way of immersing you into his vampire world. Gone are the stereotypical vampires and legends. Mr. Moore quickly pulls us into his world where he rewrites the definition of vampire and leaves you craving for more. Not only do you find yourself personally invested with the characters, Mr. Moore toys with challenging our own morals as well as the characters of his new world. You can't help but give in to the temptation to stay up until dawn to finish because you cannot stand to put it down. Best new series in a genre that has been lacking a great read for quite some time! Readers will find themselves counting the days until the next book to continue the series comes out.
While this book is well written and has fabulous language, I struggled with it. I just did not connect with the characters or care what happened to them. I am not sure why, since as noted the book is very well written. It could be that the style of writing did not resonate with me. This book has received fabulous reviews and would appeal to someone who is into the Vampire sub-culture and enjoys books that are dark and stark. I wish I had been able to connect more with the characters, but I did not. I give this book 3 out of 5 clouds for excellent prose and wording.

This was a very fun book. I'm glad the author rewrote the series to make it more mature in his revised edition of the book. The only bad part is that I have to wait for the rest of the book to come out next year.
the first few pages were very wordy. Ex. - obfuscated, doesn't flow while reading. Then it became about middle school age kids. The title grabs you and gives promise, but that's it.
I liked the idea of it, very much. Some parts were almost poetic yet macabre, colorful and descriptive, and gave a glimpse of promise for a good series. The section of Marin's life was informative and not badly done, though it really had no need in this book. More on the other characters would be nice. Why is Kyli's dad so young? What's his story and how did she come to be his daughter? I realize this is a first book for a new author so I expected some errors. SOME errors. Not errors on every page. Story line is disjointed, jumping from one idea to the next, most of which don't add up. Please, PLEASE turn off your microsoft auto-wreck and re-read your work. Or find an honest friend who isn't there to pump up your ego but to help guide you with some tough love. There are so many apostrophes where there should have been quotation marks and vice-versa that it makes some of the sentences complete nonsense.
The prologue has promise but again with the typos. The line "After fifty years, I've found I regret everything EXPECT that first night." I will assume it should read EXCEPT. Then prologue never meets up with the story-line, leaving me to wonder if the author forgot it had even been written. Then a few more pages on as we get into Chapter One there's a scene where the "Her INSPIRATION heavy, labored, she exhaled in ecstasy." I will assume that meant her RESPIRATION was heavy, labored since she was being bitten by the vampire. The rest of the book is full of such easily fixed yet oh so annoying and quite glaring errors. The constant over stating of the obvious also made it hard to get through. And I know lots of kids, of all ages, and all the almost high school aged ones can actually speak quite clearly and use more than one sentence at a time. Yes, even the semi-upright just past dragging their knuckles stage 14 year old boy ones are not nearly as ridiculous as Zack is portrayed. The dialogue between the 2 'stars' of the book is incredibly inane, most of it doesn't make sense. As in another chapter, Kyli is having a struggle to wake Zack up and he ends up on the floor on his face. Yet the next line of the scene is how he's not tired or groggy etc...so why was it so hard for her to wake him up? And since she knows she's trying to wake him from a nightmare, you'd think she'd realize what he was saying wasn't necessarily directed at her and should have questioned what he was dreaming of instead of acting like such a spoiled biatch and making him yet again apologize while he's clueless as to why he is doing so...again...
Disconnected ideas all through the book continually added to the rather difficult time I had getting through it. I'm going to hope that this book was a rough draft and that not only will it get cleaned and polished but that the rest of the series will continue to improve. Like I said, the premise is a good idea, but I'd like to see the ideas formed and cemented and that the next ones will be worthy of not only being read, but enjoyed and re-read. And yes, I'll read the next in the series but if it's as badly done as the first, it will end up being one of the few times I had to give up on a series. I don't want that to be the case.

Vampire tale - long story, but confusing. This story left me a little confused. The prologue starts out with a not-dead creature in the morgue. It is covered in some type of armor and has no pulse. It seems to have fangs, so the coroner decides it is some type of vampire. After some time, it gets up from the table and starts moving around. This creature regrets everything in the last fifty years except that first night. So then we go to the past to the first night where a vampire drains a beautiful woman against a tree. Next we are with a teen about to start high school. I'm not sure how these characters are related. The next 20 some chapters tell the tale of this boy and the girl he meets. Then we follow the path of Del Marin when he became a vampire - I'm guessing maybe Del Marin was the character at the very beginning, but not positive, maybe it was the teenager. Though I'm not sure what he has done to regret... I see this books is to be part of "The Redgold Series" maybe the next book will make more sense of the story. But I am not left hanging waiting for the next book. I also could easily put the book down when interrupted - it just didn't pull me in. There are parts of an interesting story pulling you in, but then the characters make a left turn and I'm left lost.
