Lydia Frederickson is afraid to answer her telephone. Widowed and alone, she only wants to get through another anniversary of her husband’s death without falling to pieces, but a stalker isn’t making that goal easy. The disturbing calls are becoming increasingly personal and threatening, and everyone who knows her is suspect. The only person she knows isn’t making the calls is her new ponytailed, tattooed—and breathtakingly handsome— minister, Matthew Winters.Former narcotics agent-turned-minister Matthew Winters knows he’s not what the town expected in their new pastor, but he’s up for the challenge. What he doesn’t expect is the sudden attraction he feels for parishioner Lydia Frederickson. When he discovers she’s the victim of a stalker, he feels God’s intervention has led him—both a cop and a preacher—to her. Matthew knows he’s falling for the beautiful widow, but a secret from his past may undermine their future.
Very promising start with very little build-up, simple writing style, and okay characters. The stalker's identity was too easy to figure out and even though this was a shorter story, it felt like a longer book due to the angsty main characters and handful of side characters thrown in.
►Cutest lines?
“Don’t let the persona fool you.” Lydia leaned closer to the older man. “There are horns holding up this halo.”
I enjoyed the book until the killing of the police officers at the end. I felt it was overkill You said there was a smell, why couldn't the officers just been knocked out? Why have the h have more on her conscious? Other than that the star level would have been higher.
I enjoyed reading this mystery story involving Lydia. Also the romance she starts when she meets Matthew, the new pastor at her church. The story line is will written and I had to find out how it ended. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.
Good read. Recommend this to anyone that likes a mystery mixed with faith. This book is a stand alone, but there are at least two more books in this series that I will be reading.
I really enjoyed this mystery. I had my suspicions but I couldn't really nail it down. I Loved all the different characters. I loved the story and all the different ups and downs. I can't wait to read the next book!! 🙂

The plot of this book kept my attention and kept me wondering who would end up as the culprit. I didn't see the answer coming and was a bit surprised that this person could have kept his feelings a secret for so long. The reason for the 3-star rating is primarily because my e-book copy was full of grammatical and formatting errors, which made it a little difficult to follow at times since I had to guess which character was speaking.
I received this book from the author with a request to post a review.

The town of Lincolnville was small, and when Matthew rode in on a motorcycle and wearing a leather jackets. Comments were he belong in jail. With the noise from the motorcycle as he drove up to the church Sunday, drew attention .People anxious of who the committee choose, an outsider, someone younger, single to led the flock. Jaws dropped, it was the biker they had seen. Sermon, don’t judge a book by its cover.Attraction for Lydia from the first, and to find she is a victim of a stalking makes him want to help and protect her. With his background of being a cop turned minister, felt .God wanted him here. I like how the author brought in the details of the people, and the town. With Christian principles, he is showing them not to judge, and to helping people, when they are in pain. Lydia felt the attraction, but first needed to get rid of the stalker. Good series, and looking forward to the other books in series.
Ms. Bain sure knows how to keep a reader in suspense...and knows how to tug at the heart, too! From the start of the story, the author keeps you on the edge of your seat, as scared and worried about Lydia as the heroine is for herself. This story is also full of unexpected lessons in human nature and all its weaknesses. Not judging is so hard when we believe that what we see is all there is. This is a great story full of heart and wisdom. I loved it!
The book is great. It starts strong and doesn't stop. The writing is excellent and easy to get into. The development of Lydia, her history and her new-found love interest keep your attention throughout. Combined with the twists as to who is terrorizing her, you don't want to put the book down...and then you're sorry it's over when you turn the last page. I truly look forward to her next book and future as an author.
As usual,,Kathyn J. Bain has brought a non stop thriller. I loved the characters of Lydia and Matthew and their romance. All the characters worked well together to give us a cohesive story. We see God' grace and mercy working throughout the book. Thanks for the advance copy and in exchange I am giving my honest review.
I thought this book was very good, the ending was very good, I did not see it coming. I would recommend this book to everyone who wants to read a good clean, suspenceful book.
I received this book as a gift and it was awesome. Reading Lydia and Matthew's story was a page turner. You we're kept guessing as to who was the stalker of Lydia. Especially when the stalker put you on false trails as to who it was. It was interesting as well for it tested Matthew's faith and learning to walk in it in every way. The author did an awesome job in the way she showed her knowledge of stalking for a stalker can be one of the most dangerous predators if they have the right knowledge especially with the advent of computers. Kathryn Bain shows her research in this with the way she wrote this book and the way she handled the book. Its worth reading especially when the guy gets his girl in the end but not in an easy manner which is only fitting with what was happening.
