First challenged by a friend to write a story, Erin has since written numermous online and publish works. Her story Deception, was a GCLS Finalist in 2008. That book also garnered the Sapphic Readers Award in 2009. Story creation involving strong characters always seems to dictate the story and invade her mind at all hours. It always amazes her when the characters she is developing suddenly take on a life of their own and lead the story down a completely different path. She thinks that, when all is done, the characters make an impact on the storyline the story is better for it her.

OMG

Deception was soooo good!! Lane & Bryce are totally captivating, I was so into this story that I didn't stop until I finished it at 1:30 in the morning. Even in the end, I only think I know who did it. Fantastic, I loved it.

I wish more of Erin O'Reilly's books were kindle unlimited because I've aways enjoyed them. I actually own the entire "When Hell Meets Heaven" series, "55 Ford," "Through the Darkness," and a few others. I was reading Erin's books before I switched to Kindle Unlimited.

I couldn't find one thing to like about any of the characters. The three main women were all manipulative and horrible. Nothing to make this book palatable.

Book Description From Amazon
“Lane Cuthbert knew exactly where she wanted to go and what she had to do to get there. Her goal was to challenge the network legal gurus for their positions but first, she needed a juicy scandal or murder. What she found was a beautiful woman with a secret in need of a lawyer. When the sheriff charges beautiful and wealthy Bryce Clayton with the murder of her nemesis Preston Garrett, Lane sees her chance at fame. The only problem is, Bryce won’t say where she was at the time of the murder. Although Lane is able to discredit many of the district attorney’s witnesses, she still has a problem – the alleged murder weapon belongs to Bryce. Through twists and turns, the trial reveals secrets that people wished to keep private. Can Lane convince the jury of her client’s innocence or will Bryce pay the ultimate price for her silence? Deception is the pretext that allows secrets to flourish and allows murderers to conceal the truth. A shocking revelation is approaching with a vengeance, and all that stands in its way will be eradicated. Both women are on a collision course to a passion they cannot fight, to a love they cannot ignore, to an ending that will change everything.”

Review
This was really an interesting book, in part because the neither of the main characters are completely likeable. Bryce whose been accused of murder is portrayed as a highly intelligent woman with a temper who gets what she wants. However, the reader also gets glimpses of a confused and socially awkward individual. It creates an interesting juxtaposition. On the other hand, Lane is the defense attorney who has mapped out her entire life and everything she does is a step toward her goal of being famous. She comes across as being manipulative and self-serving with occasional bouts of compassion. As the story progresses I started to like aspects of the characters while still disliking other areas, which I would say can be pretty true in real life.
What I think I enjoyed most about this story was the murder mystery. There were several times where I was sure I knew who was responsible and the story definitely ended in an unexpected way that still leaves me guessing. Usually this type of ending would frustrate me, but I suspect what will really happen is I will end up going back to re-read the story to see what clues I may have missed.

wasn't sure I'd like this book from the start, and kept putting off reading it until i was running out of other books. Then, a few chapters in, i decided it was really pretty good and actually worth my time.
I can't say that any part of it, though, has me wanting to go back and read it again, or read any part of it again. I have to agree with some of the other reviews that the love affair seems... unreal, not enough depth into the building up of it or something to make me really buy into it? needs more work on the whole chemistry, cherished looks, stilted breaths, whatever else was missing to make you say "YES!!" when the duo finally get together.
and the most frustrating part that actually took it down to 3 stars for me, was the ending.
the murder mystery was a good build up. wondering who did it, who didn't do it, who's covering for whom, and the many other questions that popped up throughout the book, are what make it good. but reading through all that, hoping to get all the answers at the end.... and then NOT, has me almost angry! sure ok, leave a couple things up in the air, some really good books do that and can pull it off. But this book leaves way too much unanswered for my tastes. it really makes the book UN-recommendable to me.
