The strongest man in the world, half-god Hercules battles a host of deadly enemies and confronts his ultimate challenge when he must obtain the golden apples that are guarded by a hundred-headed dragon
Story is a mediocre version that mentions a few feats of Hercules. About 1/2 the story is how he gets the golden apples. Not sure about the whole smart/not smart aspect of all this. That was just silly. I liked how it portrayed Atlas holding the sky. Hercules himself I thought could have used more details and better characterization. I have the first 4 books of this collection and even though they are short, I don't feel they are worth my time. Really wasn't impressed.
Hercules by Laura Geringer Bass is an amazing children's book. The illustrations are captivating; the story lines is compact, and the suspense is edgy. The book takes you to the mythical world with oomph, and brings you back wondering why didn't you stay in the myth, especially to know more about Hercules.
Idk why Atlas is green but okay. Nice speed read. Didn't go into detail on Hercules's trials (or say they were trials as a punishment). Nicely illustrated.
