Harlan gave up on having a happy ending the moment an officer slapped handcuffs on his wrist and shipped him to the county prison. Served with a five-year sentence, he accepted his fate knowing there was no one who would miss him. At least not until a handsome veterinarian comes in with therapy animals meant to help the inmates get one step closer t parole.
When Harlan was granted early release sooner than expected, he took off to find his new future without looking back. He planted himself on the Coleman Ranch and tried hard to forget the man he’d been falling in love with - the man he left behind.
Griffin was ecstatic about the opportunity to help inmates through his new farm animal therapy program. He never imagined meeting a man like Harlan, someone so obviously out of place behind those cold metal bars. One kiss, one late night dance, and he’s lost. His heart belonged to the cautious, grumpy man.
But when Harlan disappeared in the wind, Griffin gets left behind wondering how he misjudged the situation. Instead of wallowing, he dove into a self-reflective journey where he realized there was a part of him longing for something else - for a chance to be little.
Years later, life brings them back together, challenging them to face the truth - that they still want one another. Can Harlan accept the new version of Griffin, one in which he wants a Daddy to care for him? Or will Griffin be left behind again with a broken heart?
Dancing for Daddy is the fourth of the Coleman Ranch series. This full-length novel features a grumpy, new-to-the-lifestyle Daddy, a brokenhearted, but optimistic boy, a ranch full of found family, a peek at a forbidden past, and on-page steam between our two leading men. There will be crossover from the previous books in series. Recommended for readers 18+. Full CW at the beginning of the book.
I have so enjoyed this Coleman Ranch series. There is always a happy ending and almost no bad choices or unsolvable problems. Just a happy sweet story.
In this one we get to spend some time with Harlan and learn and understand not only where he comes from, but why he's kept mostly to himself over the years. We also get to see him reunite with Griffin in a new and better way...one with far less restrictions than before.
Dancing For Daddy, like the rest of the series, delves into the "Daddy/boy" relationship and brings out Griffin's "little" side as he and Harlan navigate the rekindling of their relationship. The discussion of the lifestyle was a bit early in the story, but then, these stories are not that long. The pace was perfect, and the story showed very well, how the "Daddy/little" and the "boyfriend" relationships often co-existed side by side. For those that are new to, or unaware, of this type of relationship, will find that this series serves well as a "textbook".
We get to see most of the "Daddies and littles" from the past books which is always a big plus for me, and I am so looking forward to the next story. I hope A.W. Scott writes fast and doesn't suffer writer's block:)
Dancing for Daddy is the fourth book in the Coleman Ranch series by A.W. Scott. This is the story of Griffin and Harlan. I loved their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and very well written.
I had the pleasure of reading this one since I already read the first book “Waiting for Daddy” in the Coleman Ranch series by AW Scott. “Waiting for Daddy” was a fabulous reading! I was disappointed that I missed out reading the next two books because this book is the 4th one in the series! I gotta remedy that soon for sure! I haven’t not enjoyed reading AW Scott’s books because they are so good! Definitely more than 5 stars reading from me for this one!!!
The story focuses on Harlan who was in prison. He was encouraged to be in the program where Griffin, a vet would bring an animal as a therapy animal. That was where Harlan and Griffin would have a quick fling wherever they could find a place to do it without actually being caught. Then Harlan was released and that was the last Griffin saw of him.
Years later, Griffin got a job as a veterinarian at a town near the Coleman Ranch (the ranch in the series) and he was summoned to check on some animals at the ranch. There, he bumped into Harlan and was so thrilled. However, Harlan did not share the thrill and begged him not to reveal where they first met because nobody on the ranch knew of his incarceration. That left Griffin heartbroken so he left Harlan alone. But whenever the ranch hands invited him for dinner in the big house, he’d quickly accept because that’d give him a chance to be in the same room as Harlan since he’s the cook. One evening, they invited him to go to a bar and he accepted. There, a guy started flirting with Griffin and Harlan was there. He didn’t like that one bit. Griffin got pretty drunk and Harlan was the one who took him back to the ranch. I’m being a meanie and stopping right there and have you pick up the book to read to find out what happens!!! A wonderful reading!
Harlan gave up on happiness the moment an officer put handcuffs on his wrist and shipped him to county prison. With a five-year sentence, he knew no one would miss him so accepted his fate. Then a handsome veterinarian came in with therapy animals to help inmates get closer to parole. Griffin is ecstatic to be able to help inmates with his farm animal therapy and never expected to meet Harlan who was out of place there and so after one kiss, one late-night danceGriffin is lost and his heart belongs to Harlan. After losing track of Harlan Griffin went on a journey of self-discovery and realised he longed for the chance to be little. When they are reunited years later they have to face that they still want each other. Can Harlan be the Daddy to care for Griffin or will his heart be broken again?
I loved this story with the original meeting between the men and their reunion years later. I was so pleased for them when Harlan researched and became the Daddy that Griffin needed. This was definitely an emotional story with a HEA ending that will make you smile. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content and a BSDM-like DDLB dynamic.
Another wonderful visit to Daddy, I mean Coleman, Ranch!
A beautiful mm, second chance, daddy kink, romance set in the queer cowboy filled Coleman Ranch between a grumpy ranch cook with a secret, and the sunshine vet that loves him anyway.
One thing that’s special about A.W. Scott’s writing is the worlds she paints and continues throughout her various series. Although the book can be read as a standalone part of the beauty is having intimate knowledge of the found family that love and support each other at Coleman. Part of the magic is watching their family grow with each novel.
Dancing for Daddy doesn’t disappoint. Although this is a second chance romance- it is from circumstance and not from any bad blood in the relationship. The initial meeting and relationship they share is beautiful and the fire that ignites again upon an only slightly angsty second meeting is perfection. I love the connection, understanding, and easy acceptance these two souls share and it’s a pleasure watching them claim each other and fall in love alongside their found family.
This was another fun visit to Coleman Ranch, a place where Daddies and their Littles live as found family in mutual acceptance and support. In this book, Harlan and Griffin first meet when Harlan is imprisoned and Griffin comes to administer an animal comfort program to assist with the inmates' work with their therapist. Then, they lose track of each other for a few years. When they accidentally meet up again, Harlan has a difficult time letting out that part of his life to his new co-workers. Still, the attraction between the two is still red-hot and Griffin's discovery that he is a Little doesn't seem to be a deal-breaker at all for Harlan. This low-angst book has supportive friends, self-discoveries, a slowly developing relationship, secrets revealed, and a beautiful forever love.
I love that we get to see Harlan and understand where he comes from and why he's kept mostly to himself over the years. We also get to see him reunite with Griffin in a new way and with far less restrictions...
Like the rest of the series, this book delves into Daddy/boy relations and brings out Griffin's little side as they navigate the rekindling of their relationship. I found the discussion of the lifestyle to be a little early in the book, but the pace was good otherwise and the book balanced Daddy/little and boyfriend relationship well.
I loved getting to see the rest of the littles and daddies from previous books and I look forward to the next story in the series.
Thoroughly enjoyed Harlan and Griffin's story. Harlan was in prison where he met Griffin and Julia. Once he was released he lost contact, as he was given a second chance on Coleman Ranch. Years later Griffin finds out Harlan is working on the ranch where he sees him . Harlan is shocked to see him and tells him to leave which upsets Griffin a lot Roll on another year and they meet again, only to find out there is a lot of feeling left and thing left unsaid. Loved this story, sweet and happy ending. Both needing a second chance
I knew there were things we didn’t know about Harlan, Griffin is adorable. I love their story and how being together brings out Harlan’s personality. People are more than just some facts. There are so many reasons and details missed if you just assume when learning just one thing. I need to know how Garland is. I hope we see more about him.
Sweet second chance romance between Griffin and Harlan. I loved how they met though I got a little frustrated with Harlan when he was pushing Griffin away. He was a little cruel in how he did it. Anxious to see Corey and Ashley’s story. It sounds intriguing.
This book is wonderful. The dynamics between the characters flowed beautifully and tied in so well with the previous books. The backstory for Harlan provides a lot of insight and I jut couldn’t get enough.
I enjoyed Griffin and Harlan’s story. It’s sweet, mildly angsty, and a good addition to the series. I’m looking forward to Corey’s book coming up next and very hopeful that Gerald gets his own HEA sometime soon
Both Harlan and Griffin have done some unusual things before meeting again at the ranch. Enjoy the work and the changes that make their steamy relationship possible!!!
This is the first book in the series that I have read, but I will be going back and reading the rest now. This was such a wonderful book and I loved Harlan and Griffin.
This is the 4th book in the Coleman Ranch series. It is as good as the other books in the series and I will be reading the 5th book, Meeting his Daddy, next.
Harlan and Griffin met at a time that Harlan would like to forget but he can't keep his feelings buried forever. They are able to pick up pretty close to where they left off but without the worries from before. I think these two were great for each other and I look forward to more in the series.
