Provides an introduction to the command center for United States miliary operations, and discusses the history of the physical structure, its organization, personnel, and some of its residents including the CIA, NSA, and NIMA.
I read this book as research for a novel and fell in love with it. It's not merely the massive amount I learned; it's that Jeff Cateau and Michael Levin are howlingly funny and could be writing for Weekend Update on SNL or Stephen Colbert. They're that smart and that clever. It's a win-win.
Review: This is the "complete idiot's" guide to Pentagon. If you have a basic knowledge of the military than this book will only be slightly insightful. It is useful for understanding the family tree of the pentagon in regards to structure, but does little to show where actual power lies.
Three stars: Good basic book on the Pentagon. Doesn't delve beyond basic structures and doesn't give much color, but a few of the jokes were worth a chuckle. Overall an informative but not thrilling or particularly interesting read.
