I purchased this book to read while I was on a flight. It wasnt the most exciting book but I liked the storyline enough to want to finish the book and read the second part. There were so many grammatical errors in this book I could have screamed. It was literally published as a rough draft. The proof reader definately did a horid job the first time around. Overall the story was good. They could have developed El's character a little bit but I assume that will come in book 3.I also thought the "sex scenes" were drawn out. They could have definately be taken down a page or two. I would suggest this as a read but not a book that you need to break your neck to purchase. The kindle edition is about $1 so I definately got more than what I paid for.
I actually won this book in one of my online book clubs and I am so glad that I did. This book held my attention from the first page until the last. The main character Yanna evolved from being a young minded female to a woman and I loved every bit of her evolution. The characters were well developed and the story lines were intriguing. The sex scenes were serious lol, made me want to take a break and take care of a couple of things :). I was very surprised by the ending but was satisfied with the way every one's lives turned out. Overall, this was a great read and I will continue to support Nika Michelle
This was great read. I really enjoyed this book. My favorite character was Yanna and Dianlo. Yanna was a down ass chick and she stood up for her thot ass cousin Princess. Great read on to the next book.
Ayanna, has been dealt a rough hand in life; her sister, Amaya, is immature and wants her sister's life; and their cousin, Princess, is just out to get whatever she can by any means necessary. This was a great read! On to the sequel!
What a wonderful read!!!!...These couple seem like the everyday couples experiencing life ups and downs...I can't wait to see what happens next...There is NOTHING like q book that jumps right into the action!!!!...
Didn't see the ending coming at all. I figured the arch rival would die first. Who killed him is a no-brainer for me....just have to wait and see if I'm right. Hanson is the obvious choice. Of was it El.
Book Review: Nika Michelle's Forbidden Fruit Series
I'm reviewing the entire series due to my eagerly turning the last page in one book and immediately turning the first page in another! I just could not stop myself long enough to write reviews in between so I will be posting this review for each book in the entire series! Forbidden Fruit was the first piece of work I had the opportunity to read by this author and I enjoyed it so much until I breezed through all five books in less than a weeks time! Nika Michelle is the real deal! I cannot believe I had her books all this time and had never cracked the cover and now I see I have been cheating myself because this was the first time I actually sat down and breezed through an entire series back to back in one swoop in a very long time! She took no time pulling me into this story immediately and I could not stop until I was finished! When I initially started reading, I had no idea this was a series until I got to the end of book one and then I had to know what was happening next, so I eagerly jumped into the other books in the series! She picked up each installment right where the other left off, so she did not miss a beat with the flow of the story!
The bonds and loyalties between the friends in this story were unbreakable! The one thing I really liked about this series was the fact that she left no loose ends dangling at the end! The men were true soldiers, loyal to their ladies and their friends and would do anything to protect them and their families by any and all means necessary! The ladies proved they could be just as deadly if you decided to threaten them and all they held near and dear! The ladies added a new meaning to the term ride or die as they had their men's back when they were young and continued to hold them down as they became older! As they grew older and had children their views changed and the life of fast money, glam and danger were no longer appealing! As the the climate became more dangerous, everyone scrambled to mitigate the damages and threats. If anyone could be considered an imminent threat to their safety and security in the future, they were dealt with in the present no matter who they were or how much love was out there! Family always came first! When we speak of family, many folks think of biological, however, these friends forged bonds and friendships closer than those coming from the same womb! When they loved, they loved hard! When they engaged in battle, they fought hard and together! Always having each other's back! Loyalty was indeed a must! When loyalty does come into question, anger and dismissal are the first courses of action, until those affected had a chance to digest the entire situation and realize, you cannot just turn love on and off like a water faucet! True love will always prevail if it is true, so when mistakes where made, it took a minute but all was eventually worked out and forgiven! I could actually go on and on and break this story down even further and then you will be reading my novel on a novel, so I will end by saying, I really enjoyed this is a series I believe you would definitely enjoy reading it as well.
This was definitely a five star read, so if you have not read any of this author's work let me introduce you to the author Nika Michelle!
I really enjoyed Forbidden Fruit by Nika Michelle. In this book she touched on 3 women's relationships which all had different issues. Yanna, who was my favorite character in this book, was very faithful and in love with Diablo. Where he was also very much in love with her but didn't know how to be faithful. Maya, on the other hand was young, had been involved with 2 men and had become pregnant by one of the two men. She had her own little secret that she was hiding and once the secret was released, it affected everyone she was close too. Then there was Princess, who was out for one person and that was herself, until her first love came home from prison and he changed her drastically for the better. However the way the book ended was not what I expected but I am waiting patiently for Forbidden Fruit 2.
This book was a decent read, it started off a little slow in the beginning, but it picked up later. Most of the action came from the main character Ayanna and her boyfriend Ablo. Ablo is well respected, has plenty of money, and can't seem to keep his (you know what) in his pants. Everytime he cheats Ayanna threatens to leave but somehow finds her way back, but when it becomes too much and she wants revenge, she may end up hurting herself more in the end. Ayanna's cousin Princess and sister Amaya definitely have plenty of drama in their lives also. This women definitely kept the drama in the relationship department. The book was an okay read just because Yanna and Diablo constantly had the same conversation about cheating and it became very repetitive. I am interested to see what happens in the next book so I will be checking it out.
I am just blown away by this book. It certainly kept me on my toes and there wasn't a dull moment in the story line. Diablo Perez, king of the Cues, really kept making me upset. I really wanted to like him but I just felt like he was incredibly selfish throughout his relationship with Ayanna. I think that he had his vulnerable moments but to me, he didn't love her. At least not the way he should have loved her. I think that a central theme throughout the novel was "what goes around comes around" and also that "you should cherish what you have and not take what you have for granted." Overall, I believe each character learned many lessons and truths in the story. Definitely a page turner & I can't wait to read more from Nika Michelle
So I finally finished Forbidden Fruit. I enjoyed the storyline. My only frustration was Ayanna was so dumb for Diablo but that is also what made the story real to me. Sometimes a man that's fine, got swag and has it going on in the bedroom can make you blind for love. I don't want to give anything away in my review but there is a situation that happens that I am hoping is explored more in Forbidden Fruit 2. There were a few editing issues (for those that like to know these things) but it didn't take away from the story. Overall this was a good book that kept my interest and I will be reading more of Ms.Nika's work.
First let me state how HEARTBROKEN I am that Diablo was killed at the end. NOOOOO!!!! He was my favorite character in the book. (No I don't go after men like him) But I just grew to like his character as I read the book. Something about a man chasing after his woman...strong emotions! Anyhow, I really enjoyed the characters in this book. I thought I would get lost with all the 'Cue members' she kept introducing but its wasn't hard to keep up at all. Story line was easy to follow although I got bored with some of the pages after pages of conversation. Good read overall, even though my favorite character died at the end :(
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
"Forbidden Fruit" is the second book I've read by Author Nika Michelle. It centers around Ayanna and her relationship with her boyfriend Diablo. Along for the ride are Ayanna's sister, Maya, and her best friend and cousin, Princess.
I finished "Forbidden Fruit" within a couple of days. I enjoyed the characters although I would have loved to see them a bit more developed. I was hoping that El played a bigger role than what he did. The storyline was good but had a couple of slow moments. There were also some editing issues. With that being said, overall it was a good read and I will definitely be reading part two to find out what happens next!
Ok, so I'm trying to do better on leaving reviews...This was my first read by Nika Michelle...for the most part I enjoyed this book...I enjoyed the story about Ayanna and Diablo...I did not really care to much for the other chracters..their stories to me where ok...I found my self skipping over the pages to see what was going to happen with Ayanna and Diablo...I think that a little more should've happen with EL...but hey maybe he'll show back up in book 2...a little disappointed at the end tho...but again book 2 could possibly some light on that...for the most part I really enjoyed this book!
A read this book upon a recommendation from a book club member. I was not at all impressed and I am not sure that I will be reading the 2nd installment. To me, there was just "too much": the way the men referred to the women and their body, the cursing that added nothing to the plot (almost every other word), and Yanna's constant "all you do is cheat and I'm going to leave" on every other page. This book is not a recommend.
Yanna started out young, checking the streets for opportunities. This enjoyable story follows her as she and her friends partner up with a notorious local gang, the Cues. Diablo, the gang leader, is Yanna's man, and their love story is the backdrop to the drama that carries this fast paced, drama filled tale.
This book started out wild, more on a teenager group level. As I read more and more my attention was graspand I became more and more interested. I must say it was a very active story, with lots of action, drama, excitement, and secrets. I was happy for Yannabut I just wish the ending could have ended with her and Ablo living happily ever after raising the baby and starting a good honest life.
this was an awesome debut by Nika. I really enjoyed reading about Ayanna, Amaya, and Princess and their relationship with each other and men. there were some twists and turns that I never saw coming. there were a few editing issues; however, they did not take away from the story. I will be looking forward to more from this author
Diablo didn't realize he had a ride and die chick until it was to late. Yanna loved him with all her heart but it's only so much I women can take. Maya finally came clean about the father of her daughter. I hope she still let Mel be apart of her life. Princess finally found true love with Tee.
Love the well developed characters. I really felt bad for all Ayanna and the drama that DiAblo put her though. I was so mad at Amaya for making a fool out both Mel and Ju. But Princess was on a whole other level of being ratchet. I was so surprised at the ending that I can't wait to see what happens in part 2. This is a most read series.
Ayanna Knows how to get what she wants is the boss of the streets .. but can she deal with all that he puts her through and can she manage to avoid the forbidden fruit I loved this book I cant wait to bite into part 2
This is the 1st book I have read by this author but it wont be the last. This book had everything!!! I must admit Ayanna did get on my nerves at times but she ended up doing the right thing in the end. I cant wait to read part II!!!
I really enjoyed this book. The details were so vivid. It was like watching a movie. Just the right amount of suspense without being too predictable. I can't wait to read part two.
I loved this book! I was extremely excited to read something from a new author on the scene. Forbidden fruit is a force to be reckoned with. Kudos Nika Michelle!
