Since his 1997 debut, Roddy Lumsden's poetry has been highly prized for its vivid blend of wit and imaginative reach, formal grace and brilliant musicality. The poems collected in Super Try Again show off these signature attributes whilst sharing as their origin lines encountered elsewhere-in dreams, poems, songs, folk stories, graffiti and quiz questions. Lumsden describes the poems as overlays or homeopathic versions. Despite the diversity of styles and sources, when read together they conjure an exotic, uncanny journey which sweeps across centuries and time zones.
Roddy Lumsden was a Scottish poet. He published seven collections of poetry, a number of chapbooks and a collection of trivia, as well as editing a generational anthology of British and Irish poets of the 1990s and 2000s, Identity Parade, among other anthologies.
